>tfw southern California /out/ doesn't get much greener than this because of the drought
Get me out of this shithole
>>617892
Gotta learn to love the brown man.
Where you at in socal?
>>617892
Only you can get yourself out of somewhere, anon.
>>617892
high altitude above the anza borego is still pretty damn green, go there anon
>>617892
Isnt it great when you plan an overnight and have to carry 20 pounds of water? I have to convince myself that i like this place sometimes.
>>617892
Go to Idyllwild on San Jacinto, Angels Valley in the Cuyumacas, Laguna Meadow on Laguna Mountain near the border, Green Lake in the San Bernardino between Big Bear and Arrowhead, Lake Hemet on the slope of San Jacinto, or Oak Glen in the San Bernandinitos.
Those are the best places for greenery, especially Idyllwild. Idyllwild is every angle of the word fantastic, its verdant woods included.

I hate California state parks. It's like i can feel the government holding my hand the whole time.
Arizonafag here, the op picture looks pretty green to me
>>618522
>I hate California state parks. It's like i can feel the government holding my hand the whole time.
i've lived in socal my entire life and i've never once felt this way. I hardly even notice they're there.
Then again, I don't go to touristy /out/ locations where of course rangers and shit will be out in force.
Cleveland National Forest is super green, what the fuck are you talking about?
>>618531
Some of the state parks in Socal are huge. Anza in particular. Where are you going that there's rangers everywhere?
>>617892
Camped off the all American canal by the az/CA bored. I recommend it during hunting season. Nice
>>618593
Hell yeah, i get to see her everyday, green but still not alot of good water to be found.
>>618614
There's a spring on Palomar mountain. Do you live or work in CNF?
>>617892
only a cunt could not find beauty in socal.
all the sages that smell fucking amazing.
the wildlife that survives in an environment you never would if it wasnt for that grocery store nearby + water being shipped in by the truckload.
being all warm and shit so you can sweat your brains out and feel like a new man
vistas, mesas, fucking BEACHES
killer sunsets and sundogs
fucking cool fungus's like amnitas
literally went on a hike the other day and saw douglas nightshade. same flowers as the tomato but poisonous
red tailed hawks and shit just flying around
tbh socal is amazing
>>618775
and petroglyphs

>>617892
>oh look another faggot who doesn't know Balch
>>618748
I live in Lake Elsinore. Technically part of the forest
>>618794
Man that sounds awesome. Are there good hiking areas right around town? I live in Coastal North County so I imagine it's pretty similar just in the mountains.
>>618799
Pretty nice hiking trails, yeah, i havent done all of them since i didn't start getting /out/ until just recently but what i have done i enjoyed.
Even the one camp ground i go to up there (Blue Jay) has been really cool and only once had loud assholes there.
Cool hiking, cool camping, hunting is legal and i only have GREAT things to say about the rangers. (Been let off twice for smoking weed)
Biggest downside for me in the heat down here.
>complaining about drought in a desert
I don't understand Californians.
>>618794
Oi m9 I live a city or two over from Elsinore and have been frequenting the trails near you and recently did Sitton Peak comfy trails.
>green
>>618835
Sitton peak was my next choice. Ive been thinkin about doin that one when i get some time.
I just moved to Ventura, I love the area and scenery, I just need some friends to go /out/ and show me the cool camp sites and shit. Fucking sucks having nobody to do shit with.
Also I'm trying to get into scuba diving to potentially turn into a career of some sort if I like it enough, if anyone has any tips or un-obvious facts for a young dude starting his to consider, it would be much appreciated.

Starting his life*
>>618595
i said that i never see park rangers, and when i do. they're in the very popular touristy bits of parks which i avoid anyway. Also, I don't fish or hunt but those guys seem to linger around those areas for that shit to catch cheap SOB's who dont want to pay for a permit.
>>618935
>Ventura
i'm located in lower VC, northern LA county area. age? 21 here
>>618935
Mt.Pinos and surrounding Chumash wilderness is fucking great for /out/ activities. Plenty of cool camping too.
>>618484
I feel you OP, after spending time up north I came back to the shitty chaparral.
Cleveland NF sucks dick, Laguna Woods Wilderness Park is a dry shithole, Crystal Cove is only worth it in the winter and spring, Topanga a shit, Angeles NF is ok at best, dry as shit right now. San Bernardino NF is pretty sweet right now though, pic related.
>>617930
>Gotta learn to love the brown man.
Yeah, that sounds like California
>>617892
did it ever? Just head north. all the water you'd ever want and lush rainforest in the pacific northwest.
>>619156
Quality post
>>618484
What up fellow OC bro. Born in Mission Viejo here, went to Uni in Fullerton, now living in Truckee. Fuck Orange County. All of it. It's nice and green up here.
>>619134
more for us REAL /out/ enthusiasts
>>619141
North San Diego County. This was in the San Marcos area.
I'm going out to the desert tomorrow for 2 days, I'll post some pics when I get home.
Could be worse, at least it's not South Australia, thanks fuck I live near a river and a few lakes or I'd be shit out of luck for /out/ activities.
>>617892
Because it's a fucking desert. Fuck California.
>>620331
>born in mission viejo
s-same mang
Texasfag reporting in, do you want some of our rain? We just had shit tons and we're going to get more this weekend. Went from a drought to floods in a day. Truly this is a blessed land.
Wait a while, till December, and head to Idyllwild
>>620968
I would live all year round in Idyllwild. Going up there for some backpacking with my dad in November, then I'm stayin with my folks and my two dogs in a lodge in town for a couple more days. I love that place.
>>618477
>go to the small parks where a whole LAs worth of people cram themselves into also
>where all the kiddies somehow get away with smoking dope and shit but if you spit on the ground you'll get ticketed
>>620961
pls give us rain
SoCal Newfag here. Are there any good starter places to go hiking (aside from what >>618477 said) that are more secluded and where you don't run into lots of people? I'm in east LA and I need to get out and see something other than fucking buildings and beaches...
>>623157
Kings Canyon is like 3 hours from LA
