ORVs harm vegetation directly through trampling, soil compaction, and pollution. All of these impacts can be devastating to an area of the forest by resulting in fewer and less vigorous plants, reduced plant cover, lower plant diversity, adverse changes in plant species composition, and disruptions to natural plant succession and nutrient cycling processes. The loss of vegetation results in increased soil temperatures, with negative impacts to soil fauna, soil fertility, nutrient cycling, and hydroponic processes. Vegetation loss also increases the likelihood of erosion. The erosion of soil caused by ORVs impacts vegetation by exposing roots to potential damage and by covering vegetation on the downslope side of the eroded area.

Please stay on established paths.

I recently purchased a 2009 ford ranger FX4 and I want to lift it a few inches. I found some videos on YouTube that show a super easy and cheap way to do it. Basically all you have to do is instal some $60 brackets on the rear suspension and then Just crank the tension bars in the front suspension a little bit and you can get 2 easy inches of lift.

My questions is whether anyone knows anything about this method? Is this actually a viable option or would it damage the truck in some way or inhibit performance? Any information would be much appreciated.
>>
>>1033810
it is exactly that simple. it will change your suspension geometry and wear your tires out without an alignment afterwards but not so bad.

Why don't we see here lads from South Africa, Brazil, Russia, Argentina, Thailand etc often despite they being big and populous countries with excellent /out/?
We're mostly Anglosphere and European shitposters.

Do you guys from other countries just lurk and don't /out/ yourselves or they don't even wander around here at all?

Russia has a huge /out/ culture, 4chin just isn't the Russian platform of choice for it, I think the same can be said about the other countries on your list. Apart from maybe Brazil and Thailand, they're both just incredible shitholes filled with human dirt and trannies and those are not the kind of people to be /out/ists.

>tfw finding more and more adult squash bugs and eggs on my pumpkin plants

It constantly feels like the shoe is gonna drop any day now. I can't even step into the plants to maintain them there's so many. Hopefully, that will also save them.
>>
My neighbor gifted me some plants today, they're all herbs. Rosemary, African Basil, Flatleaf Parsley, and Stevia. I'm in zone 6, so from what I understand the Rosemary is the only perennial, with the parsley being a biannual.

I don't mind putting the Basil and parsley in my garden, but the Rosemary, being long living, needs a better home. 3 gallon ceramic pot? It's own corner of a raised bed box? What do you guys suggest? General tips on these herbs are welcome!
>>
My marjoram cuttings are all grown up now. Well 11 days older and going strong. I'm glad they got through when the main plant I cut it from was half burned thanks to a freak heatwave. Just need to successfully grow sage so my rosemary, lemongrass, and mint have company. Couldn't get them seeds sprouting even after a long cold stratification in the fridge. Is soaking them for a day and then cold stratifying them too much?

Going on a 200 mile backpacking trip this summer, can I get some quick guidance on boots? Considering these Aslos, but would the Solomon 4d ones be a better option? Others out there perhaps? I've been paddling a ton but am new to backpacking.

Pick something that breathes well. Depending on terrain, I'd go with trail runners.
>>
Don't pick boots, they are heavy.
Don't pick waterproof, they are not breathable.
You don't need "ankle support"
>>
>>1044797
Unless you know how to care for leather, don't get these. If you are going to be walking in the heat and your feet will be sweating, don't get these. If you are going to have to ford streams and get your feet wet, don't get these. I love my pair, but they do not breathe or dry out without considerable solar radiation or one of them newfangled electric boot dryers. The ankle support is the tits in rocky/ loose terrain. I'm a clumsy fuck and I have not managed to roll my ankle in these yet.

Weird living situation right now and I'm seriously considering living in my 4Runner. I don't have many things and I was just going to get a basic self inflatable sleeping mat to sleep in the back but not sure how good of an idea this is. I work in LA and was going to do this for a month or two to save up faster for my own place. But it's summer and it's hot as fuck. Anyone have any tips on anything like this?

find some shade and if you can a water source - can be natural or a spigot somewhere. I'm assuming you work during the day when it's at the hottest.
>>
>>1055503

I lived in a Honda Civic coupe for 3 months in Canada, I envy your 4 runner, should be absolutely comfortable.

Invest in a second battery, tint your windows and recharge your A/C yourself, I am /o/ knowledgeable it's rather easy.

Buy a power inverter.

Invest in lots of dried nuts and other easily storable eatables.

Learn to use dry shampoo, keep water jugs and towels and toothpaste and toothbrush.

But talpco powder for added hygiene.

Invest in a weapon.

You're going to need a horse to lug around all that shit, maybe a pack mule. If you've got that, definitely go for it, it's comfy as fuck to actually have real cookware instead of some cuckstove.
>>
>>1054426
This.
>bad idea?
I think it is a good idea to try old ways and see if one can learn anything from them.
I think that's how magnesium fire starters got rediscovered, among other things.

Family /out/ing, it's a far cry from wild camping but I'd be lying if I said I'm not enjoying it! My plan is to slowly take away the crutches but wife is heavily pregnant at the moment, anyone made the move to wild from this with family?
19 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
There's no way to transition unless she wants to too. So find a way to show her she'll enjoy it or some shit. If she already wants to then you'll get there eventually, easing your way in is a good way to go.
>>
Try canoe camping
You get to bring all the hundreds of pounds of conveniences and shit but it "feels" a lot more wild than driving to a place
>>
>>1053830
Seems like a bad idea to do any intense wild camping if you're pregnant. I say tough it out and enjoy your casul camping until she can rough it more.

What do you prefer? I like the convenience of just going out into the woods for a few hours on a whim. Never really had the drive to find others to go with. Is it worth it? Seems like a solitary activity to me.

>I go at it alone

People are unreliable. Co-workers & friends always have things coming up. I you go alone, you can just take off whenever you are ready.

>that being said...
I've been in very sketchy places/situations. Where if I'd been hurt my body might not have been found.

why the fuck would I invite people into my autistic wilderness excursions? If I die alone and dead it's just natural selection anyways, humans aren't supposed to meddle in such things
>>
Honestly if I could meet people who wouldn't want to smalltalk at all and only communicate when necessary, I'd be open to hiking and exploring with others.

E-especially if it was a blonde female that wears her hair in a braid and loves the land as much as I do...

Dwellingup is nice... a couple hours drive south of Perth. If you are after something in the metro area there is a fair amount of bushland up in the Perth hills, Darling Scarp. Are you a local anon or considering visiting? I'm up in Geraldton, four hours drive north of Perth. If you are up this way, we should meet up...
