I have never tried a poncho but I think there's a reason no one wears ponchos up here in northern countries.
A jacket blocks cold wind and keeps warm air around your body. With a poncho like that in your pic, warm air escape out to the sides.
It could perhaps be viable if you have some really good wool layers underneath, but it still seems like a bad choice to me.

Ponchos look cool af if that's what you're looking for then go for it.

Ponchos were designed to be portable shade. They were open to provide air flow but still keep the body shielded from the heat of the sun. Then, they could be a blanket at night. So, they're better for the desert than for wintery places.

This is the barest thing I take when I go in the woods. It's a Maxpedition small bag. I have a Leatherman on one side with a sure fire light on the other. Inside the bag is a Fenix headlamp, a SOL emergency blanket and also is a small plastic bag inside with lighter, flint and steel, dryer lint, and Purel. The bag is pretty small and easy to carry.

I love my Merrell boots, and they have good winter ones. Merrells website has a sale today on winter boots.

Thanks I'll take a look at merrel, I thought of buying mens boots before but not many are made small enough I wear a size 6 in womens so in mens I'd need a size 4 or so

This, most of the same brands that get recommended for men also make women's boots. Merrell, Vasque, scarpa, etc.

Your best option is to go try some on and find the one that best fits your foot shape.

I looked at a few of the past boxes on LT and they looked pretty good. I didn't look at MTB yet because you have to put an email addy in to see theirs and I'm not sure yet which person I feel like being for fishing stuff/spam

Once I was on a trail very near populated areas, but on a portion hard enough and a few miles out so not all that many people traverse it.

I was exploring off trail a bit near a viewing spot when I spotted a well made wooden cross driven deeply into the ground. There was some kind of floral arrangement tied around it, along with a zip lock bag full of papers.

The papers ended up being pictures of a man and his family, he had killed himself at that spot. One of the paper was a letter written to him after his death from his sister. Apparently none of his family even knew he was depressed, it was extremely sudden and unexpected. He didn't tell them anything and his sister was pleading for answers.

Made me think really hard, I was depressed for days.

think i stumbled across a cabin that had been used as a grow house for weed. power outlets all around and rotted bags of gardening soil outside. newspapers there were from '96. also a trailer with shelves and a bottle of fertilizer

If it says "tactical" or "survival" in the item description there's usually a better alternative that costs less.

If you're buying a first bow and are just getting into archery, you need to find out if you're patient enough to learn traditional archery over a few years or want to get something with sights. I have a Fred Bear Montana Longbow and love it, but you can buy a decent rifle/scope combination for less money.

The bow in your post has some weak links where it hinges. I don't like the look of it and wouldn't get it. If you want something compact, get a takedown recurve.

Woodson the long way, get shitfaced at the Gaslamp, go to museums at Balboa, go to the zoo, visit Joshua Tree National Park if you wanna drive a ways, snowboard at Big Bear, visit the Cabrillo National Monument, go to Little Italy downtown, go to Oldtown, and so on. I was in the forest about 2 hours ago. Something crossed the trail in front of me and ran up this hill. By the time I got my phone out to take a pic it was gone. Never go innawoods without a gun. Also it was cold.
