R8 my rod build again!
Who here has experience with micro guides on casting rods? Are they worth it?

On hour number five of a Boat-Ed's "about 3 hours" online boater safety course. There was a thirty minute break in there somewhere but this is definitely going on longer than expected. So tired the "Save & Logout" link is looking pretty tempting, but I can't take the exam until the course is completed. Then I fork over the thirty bones to get my certificate which thankfully is good for life.

Anyway, anybody here fish with medium-to-large swimbaits? I could use some advice on rod/reel/line combos. I'm not quite sure I'm ready to start shelling out the kind of money swimbaits can cost but I spent late into last night watching YouTube vids (mostly KeepinItReelFishing) and it's making it tempting.

Two of my Abu Veritas rods have the micro-guides. If I remember right my Wright & McGill/Skeet Reese spinnerbait rod does as well. I think they look at lot sleeker, keep the line tighter to the rod along it's length, and they seem to distribute the load along the rod really well.

That would be Cravats (Triangle bandages) and the thing is called a sling

I would suggest you use these only to clean minor wounds. With larger wounds, upon arrival to a medical facility (Hospital, trauma center, Stocked Ambulance) the wound will be cleaned thoroughly anyways.

I would add a larger splint. A standard sized SAM splint is 36' long (about a meter) and would work great for a leg splint

I would add a fair amount of 4x4 gauze pads (10-25) and a few more rolls of gauze. This is for smaller cuts, abrasions and the like. Things you are more likely to see in a camping trip or a minor car accident.

All in all, not a bad pre-made kit.

A common squirrel call is the crying baby. Even if they know it's not their own pup, they'll still run to see if they can help. That sound a lot like compassion to me. That said, they're a rodent, a prey animal. They don't live long and exist as part of the food chain. If you're hunting for food, I feel it's well justified to hunt squirrels.

The same can be said of every mammal, though. Cows are probably more intelligent and emotionally complex than rodents, and we eat them all the time. At least with squirrels, you know it's organic, free-range, GMO and growth hormone free, and you're not perpetuating an industry that essentially imprisons and slaughters animals for money. Hunting is far more compassionate than eating at McDonald's.

But keep working on finding more clubs, or try to form your own. A lot of universities will let you form your own club if you can demonstrate a need, and some of them even give you some seed money as well.

Or you can form a group on meetup.com, although if you don't have a car that kind of makes that hard.

Worst case scenario smoke weed and watch netflix, and then work a job over the summer so you can afford some of those trips next year.

Every time I've made an ingress thread over the last 2 years, pissypants casuals who hate walking always deter any conversation.

My favorite thing I've done In game was make a 7 layer field over my entire county, lasting 3 days. The anchor I threw from was on an island only accessible by kayak. Lots of rage ensued. Got black illuminator from it, too.

I used to have a pet rat. Peanut butter was pretty high up - especially good for traps because it doesn't dry out/go rancid, and it also whafts around so they can smell it far away.

BUT chocolate pudding was like crack to that little bitch. If you have a rat within 20 metres of your chocolate pudding-laden trap you have a dead rat

I'll definitely be getting out on the lakes more often for fishing. I hate fishing in the winter; it's just cold, wet, and miserable. I also have some 2-3 day hiking trips planned for spring/summer in the Ozarks, and MAYBE a ~10 day backpacking trip on the Lone Star Trail in TX.

2015 was my first year homeless mainly innawoods. I didnt prepare for winter, so had to yield and couch-surf the coldest months.

this year i must make million firewoods in preparation for winter. also thinking of building small guerilla sauna :)
