I'll be in Mesa AZ at the end of February and was wondering what /out/ related activities I'll be able to do there. Any fishing? Good hiking?
There's a lot of community lakes throughout the Phoenix metro area that all got stocked with trout recently. Those would be a decent casual fishing spot.
Canyon lake, Saguaro lake and the lower salt are within an hour of Mesa and would be great day trip spots for fishing.
Camelback mountain is a really popular hiking spot, and there's a lot of hiking trails around the superstitions which is close to Mesa
Can we has a homeless general thread, /out/?

I'm looking for a multi tool that revolves around cleaning fish.
A flexible filet knife, catfish skinners instead of pliers, a scale remover, etc
Does anything like this exist?
If it doesn't, why not?
>>690647
they do exist, but not in the conventional leatherman style. there are multitools in the form of a fixed blade that have most of what youll need to process a fish, even though they are shunned because fisherman generally dont need something so foofy. its assumed if you have the space to store a fish, you have an equal amount of space for tools
>>690659
What if I'm a hobo and I want to use my begging money for a tool that will do it all?
Got any links?
I've been searching and I found ONE folding filet knife.
>>690674

Mostly just snakeheads and homeless people.
I'm trying to figure out a good way to catch and get rid of those damn sailfin catfish aka plecostomus. They don't eat any real bait.
I need to break out the pellet gun one day and get rid of these doves that nest in the trees in my backyard. When they have babies, I get shit tons of feathers in my pool.

I want to upgrade my water system and buy a new stainless steel water bottle at the moment i go with a 32 oz nalgene bottle and a glass 12nz bottle (for hot liquid such as te) but i want to switch to a stainless steel one and the 2 i'm focused are the nalgene and the klean kanteen but there are some differences the nalgene is made with 18/10 surgical steel and the klean is made with 18/8 food steel both are made in china and both are single wall but i have heard that the klean kanteen is more prone to leaking and brokes while the nalgene it should be more durable
what's your opinion on water bottle ? and what is your water system right now ? i'm curios
>>690211
This is my current system
>>690211
Get the plastic bottle system.
>>690215
this, you rarely ever need to filter water
So I was able to find these Fjallraven Men's Vidda Pro Trousers Long, Dark Grey online for $70 bucks today. (random website had one pair left in my size) I really liked the idea of dedicated innawoods pants. I could never justify getting them before because they were just so damn overpriced.
I'm an amerifat so i'm hoping that the estimated size is actually right.
Looking good is half the battle so what are your slightly vain /out/ purchases?

As of today, I am homeless. Does anyone have advice for survival and getting back on my feet? I know this is posted a lot, but I am new to /out/, so after this thread I won't post anymore. If you take the time to offer advice I will be very grateful in this troubling time.
Get a job.

BURIED WITHIN THE TEMPLE OF OCULUS ANUBIS LIES A SPECIAL STATUE THAT CONTAINS THE SECRETS OF ONE OF OUR SHOWS. HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN HERE BEFORE?
The way is marked with sticks nailed to trees. Don't go through the gate, there is a trail that sneaks around to the backside.
>>689305
That was the first stick. This is the second one
>>689307
This is where they say the statue is buried, or nearby. Someone marked it with surveyor tape but it was torn off.
Like many of you, I am an outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, camping and many other things than are done under the open skies. What I find extremely hard to do is to find like-minded people to do these things with, mainly because solitude is one of the things that are so enjoyable about being outdoors.
While children are brought together by youth organizations of many sorts, adults – especially those under 40 – are having a hard time to find proper organizations to meet their demands. It may be enjoyable to walk the wilderness with older people, but sometimes you might want to have someone of similar age by your side.
Upon my research I found not a single club or anything alike that focuses on outdoorsmanship. There are plenty of club focusing on a specific field, but none that wants the whole deal. Since I'm a man of action, I have now taken it upon myself to start such an organization. My main objective is to offer a place for people to look for others and arrange meetings.
Unlike others I see no need to have an open forum. If people spend half of a day on a website to discuss how much they love the outdoors, it becomes a joke. Besides, there are plenty of outdoor-related forums out there to discuss such matters. The goal is to be outdoors, not discuss it's greatness.
One question remains: Do you feel the need for what I have in mind?
>>688266
I agree with you Anon. I'm in my midtwenties and outside of coworkers or friends, it's hard to find people my age to go /out/ with. I wish there were adult boyscouts or something that would have more experienced members there to show others the ropes and woyld organize outings of various types.
I think what would work best is having local chapters, ex. It would be hard for someone on the east coast to get together with folks from the midwest or the west coast for /out/ activities.
>>688266
I think you may want to try Craigslist Personals. Only the winners hang out there.
>>688267
>I think what would work best is having local chapters, ex. It would be hard for someone on the east coast to get together with folks from the midwest or the west coast for /out/ activities.
Agreed, that what I had in mind.

Thought about one of these, for single cans of soup or for making my own small portion soups when I'm camping in the woods.
Wanting something durable that I can hang over the fire, and not worry about it warping. A slightly larger size would be ideal, but not a must. But I'd like to find something that's more bang for my buck. Any ideas?

how exactly do you hang that over any fire?
>>687854
Weld the lid shut, then hang the pot-cup from your balls about 6 inches above the flame.
>>687857
does /out/ bike? preferably on rough terrain
>>684266
It's probably my most frequent /out/ activity
>>684266
I took my BMX bike out to Colorado a couple of times and took it down some double black diamond trails. I was passing up people on real mountain bikes, especially going through the twistt parts in the woods.
My hands hurt like hell by the end of the trails though. 110psi tires and no suspension isn't the greatest on rocky trails.
>>684274
Yeah some people (while potentially being a very strong rider endurance-wise) have very little basic bike control skills. When i ride with my friends we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. Luckily it all usually evens out by the end of the ride even if there's alot of rubberbanding in between.
Hello /out/
Just wondering how long you lasted outdoors.
Me I've been out since June now.
>>690508
The real question is how long can you go without shitposting?
It's hard for me to make it 12hrs.
>>690514
No just getting a bit bored
Sorry if its shit.
>>690519
I'm just being a dick.
So are you on a vision quest or just homeless?
So im doing it.
Im going to walk across america. Ive done crazy hard work in my life. Ive fought forest fires. Ive been military. Ive dug holes for 16 hours per day no breaks not even lunch. Ive seen that hardest of the hard. All I can say is that I need nothing besides my own brain and honesty. I have worked some warehouse jobs lately, where the sad sorry pathetic fucks can have a superiority complex over their sad sorry warehouse job. A human will do anything to survive. Especially lie to themselves. So my goal is to live entirely honestly. If it kills me then so be it. Obviously 8 cant have any sort of housing for this, at some point I would need to do something dishonest to keep up my hourly wage. Even improperly cleaning something is dishonest with the definition that I imply. So I will walk. With some stuff on my back. And I will be honest until I die. Which is likely soon. I will be evicted soon, so yes, this is what I am doing. I will be walking from Oregon to Kentucky for this season.
hell yea do it
Good luck
>>689902
Do it mang.
You need some sponsors. You could totally get some free Gatorade for the trip. Not sure if that aligns with your views on honesty though.
You gonna journal or anything? Or at least post here so I can rip it off and turn it into a book and make millions for myself.
I was serious about the commercial sponsor thing though. Even if it is something small to help.
