o'pea there are knife and acks threads all over this board. they're also the most annoying and shitpostastic threads we have. just go join one of them and sift through the already existing myriad of arguments, suggestions, and confirmation bias rather than cultivate a whole new one unto yourself.

Around these parts we wait for the bump limit. And I wasn't going to post it, but the OP who creates a new thread when the old one is at 290 keeps trying to defend his shitty choices.

NOW we can finally talk about fishin
I was working today right by this lake with peacocks and some nice LMB in it, right around 11am. But it's super clear water and those lakes you can really only hit em with good conditions.
Anyway there were a few kids/dudes maybe high school or college age casting Rat-L-Traps and shit and gettin nothing. I was going to tell em the spot right around the bend where I often land nice LMB but then the cocky fisherman took over in me and I let em fail. Rat-L-Traps ain't gonna land largemouth at 11am on a sunny July day anyway. Not in Florida.

Actually, stuff like vinegar is super effective at killing plants. However, it does not discriminate about what it kills. Thus, anything you pour or spray it on will die and so will the things touching it. Roundup is only good when crops/lawn is mixed in with weeds and you want to only kill the weeds. Hence the "Roundup Ready" gmos for crops. So, if you need to nuke something and it isn't mixed in with things you don't want to nuke, use vinegar or boiling water. Vinegar will be more effective in the long run for things like clumps of grass, when pouring it on. Use only as a light spray, vinegar is great for killing top growth, but leaving roots.
But, seriously, if you use Roundup, you should do the world a favor and drink it. Supporting Monsanto is nothing anyone should be caught doing.

Is the mint shriveling or dying? Allow the soil and plant to dry out a little more than normal, without wilting the plant. Keep it away from other mint species plants. Remove bottom leaves that have lots of spots. You can try something called "Colloidal Silver" as a spray for the leaves if you think you need an anti-fungal. Just don't hose it down. It only needs a little tiny bit on the leaves. You can make it at home or buy it online. Just stay away from the absolute massive amount of retard websites who use it for internal health bullshit.
>>1062389
Did you post a pic of your tank setup? I know changing amounts of nutrients can be pretty slow in some systems. Slow is good of course. How old is the system you are using with that many fish? Have you put plants in the system yet?

Why all the hate for Monsanto? They have done nothing that oher company's haven't.
Hey /out/, I am about to go kayaking for the first time tomorrow, and I'm a little nervous to be completely honest. I'm nervous about flipping over and not being able to get back up, and, should I have to get out of the kayak underwater, not being able to get back in the damn thing. The river I'm going down is supposed to be calm, so I'm not worried about rapids or anything.
1. How easy is it to flip a kayak upright when underwater?
2. How easy is it to get out of the thing if you have to?
3. I'm overweight (working on that problem). Is kayaking a bad idea for overweight people, barring the event that they don't have a big enough kayak?
I'm kind of pessimistic by nature, and was just wondering about it.
Also, general kayaking thread, I guess.

You have to be either really fat or really uncoordinated to flip one. If you are neither of those things you will be fine after the first minute or two you are in it. Majority of the people I've seen flip and it's very few, have flipped right after getting in it. In that case you're right next to the bank so it's no big deal
>>1060188
I am pretty big. I stand at 6'3" tall, and weigh somewhere on the upper end of 300 (this brings me much shame). I have a big frame, so the weight is pretty distributed throughout. In other words, I'm fat, but I'm not a blimp. Will this cause problems?
>>1060179
How many inches wide is this kayak?
Also, wear a PFD.
Does anyone else enjoy being nude while outdoors? It just feels so liberating not having to wear clothes
Never tried, but i don't think i'd like it.

How many choices do we get from each?
My weak, whiny and cowardly girlfriend is nagging me to take her /out/. Give me the typical gf shit tantrums she will throw, I want to mentally prepare myself.

If you have trail mix, she will pick out the parts she likes, and leave the rest
Your mistake was getting a girlfriend in the first place, you through your life away for penis feels.

How do I repel these creepy bastards? I have an intense, irrational phobia. If I step on one I shiver. If I sit down on moss or grass and one crawls on my pack or trousers, I panic like I'm being attacked by 10 wild dogs. I hammock, but it's approaching the end of the dry season and soon I know they'll find a way to crawl on my stuff again and probably lay their eggs in my brain.
Should I invest in an ultralight cuben fibre flamethrower?
>>1066995
Get a bivy. One slug crawling in your nose while you sleep will cure you of your fear, like faggots afraid of spiders - you just need to hold a spider to see they are harmless little bros
>>1066997
I'm going into cardiac arrest just thinking about this
God I wish I wasn't such a pussy about this. I and doesn't afraid of anything about everything else /out/ related, just these harmless little molluscs
>>1066995
1. Check camp site for nasty bastards.
2. Pour a boundary line with salt around your spot.
Might attract some unwanted wildlife but obviously you're much more scared of sluggos.
Paracord bracelet: useful survivalist tool, or over used fashion statement?
Any bracelet is a fashion statement.
Something which has use but is also worn as a fashion statement because it's cheap. So, both.
>>1066638
I don't care, neither should you
just wear it if you need it whether that's for making a lasso to catch a bear or because you like to wear it
Can anybody identify this flower for me? I can't seem to find anything like it.
They seem to grow two different styles of flowers. Here's one. So far I've seen white, pink, and a mix of the two.
Here's the other type of flower growing on it.

Hollyhocks
Got back from some weekend hiking. Hotter than blazes out there.
Anyway. What species of lizard is this? Region is southern california. Few more pics to follow.
Where? This doesn't look like any of our native horned lizards:
http://www.californiaherps.com/identification/lizardsid/phrynosoma.id.html
Hey guys, I'm no botanist unfortunately but I assume a lot of you guys might be or at least might now a few things or two when it comes to plant life.
So I've been walking around my property and I've noticed a shit tonne of pic relateds have been popping up and FAST. Originally I was kind of happy because early on they looked like mint, then they started growing venomous spikes and taking over the place and I realised I should of killed the little shits, I touched one and the spines got me and my fingers ached for a good few hours. I'm in Australia at the moment and it's nearing the end of winter and they seem to be thriving.
Any clue what these things are would be lovely, I'm planning to kill them all next weekend but out of curiosity I'd like to know what they are.
as you can see the spines are very hard to see as they are quite small, but trust me they hurt. In the previous picture you can see small darker dots on the surface, those are the spines
i was thinking stinging nettle (urtica incisa), but i don't know because of the flower in your
second pic
>>1066255
yeah me too, it looks very similar but I've never seen any stinging nettle with flowers like that on it. Maybe it's a subspecies?
Where is it legal to start a campfire?
I have some woods in my backyard that connect to a public hiking trail deep in the forest. Is it okay to start a campfire there? Do I need a permit? How do I check my local laws in this specific area?
Upper NY state by the way.
If you're not sure, contact your local city hall and ask them. Generally, you're probably fine making a campfire in your backyard as long as it's not a raging inferno, or you aren't burning chemically treated wood, trash, or leaves. Odds are, unless you're next to a national forest, you can't legally make a fire in the public woods, and either way, they won't like you burning anything anywhere near the trail.
These links may answer some questions:

>>1066144
and also,
>laws are for pussies and you should do whatever you want!
is probably what a good portion of /out/ would say, but I would say there is a time and a place for civil disobedience, but burning ordinances are not really the right time or place.
