Everyone knows that any outdoorsman worth his salt has a green wool beanie.
Post pictures and discuss green wool beanies.
Why are they so good? Why are they so perfect for the outdoors? Why is the green wool beanie the best item of outdoors clothing ever to be invented?
>le fags dont know about grean beanies
A real outdoorsman decides what the best headwear is for him personally.

And the decision he inevitably makes is the fabled green beanie
For a long time my father has been asking me to go hunting with him but one thing has always stopped me: I lacked the money to buy or rent a firearm and take the necessary safety courses. This year I got a tax refund over $2000.00 and decided this would be the year I surprise him. His birthday is in August so I figure I'll take a picture of myself in hunting garb w/ the rifle I buy and write "we are hunting this year" on the back.
My problem is I know almost nothing about hunting, firearms, and being an outdoorsman. I don't know how to find rifle ranges to try before I buy in my area nor do I know how to find hunter safety classes/websites with legitimate information for state. I'm hoping you guys can educate me and anybody else who wants to hunt but knows nothing a little bit by answering our questions.
So to start things off, where would a Wisconsinite find legitimate and up-to-date information regarding hunting? What are some good entry-level hunting rifles to consider/why are they worth considering? I'm sure I'll have more questions after getting some answers and I'm hoping others with questions will ASK THEM HERE.
Thanks in advance.

Is it legal to hunt beaver in Canada?
>>720508
Yes, if you're a heterosexual male or a lesbian.
>>720508
Totally legal to flirt with your mom in Canadia.

Hey /out. I actually posted this sometime last year, but I just today had an issue with it again, and had to make sure I'm not crazy.
I have a problem with unleashed dogs in my local park when I go out for runs along the trails.
This park has very clearly posted signs advertising the leash law. It is not a dog park. Yet zero people use leashes at this park. As soon as a dog sees me on the trail, it instantly goes aggressive, chases me, and would bite me if I didn't defend myself. How do I KNOW they would bite me? Because I got bit 3 times in this park before I started defending myself.
Let me be clear, I love dogs. I grew up with a dog until she died when I was 13, I cried when she died. But I have been given no other option, and now when I get attacked, I smack the dogs in the face with a padlock tied to rope. Then the owners act like I'm the asshole. Seriously?
Please tell me what I should do guys.
I should not have to stop going to my local park for jogs just because assholes don't want to follow the law.
I don't feel good about this, it totally ruins my run and makes me feel bad about myself. But I refuse to change my behavior. I love this park and running in it is one of my favorite things to do.
What would you do?
>>705499
Ask /an/
>>705502
never been there but I'm assuming they love animals more than people and would just call me an asshole
>>705499
Mace
You can mace the dogs and if the owners take serious issue with it and try to fight you or something you can mace the owner of need be
Obviously it's better to not mace anything but the damage wouldn't be permanent to doge or owner if need be probably some bear mace
Where'd you go /out/ this weekend? Post your pics/stories
>pic related Little Lake Creek Wilderness in the Sam Houston Nat'l Forest

another. large sections of the trail were completely flooded.

It was, the forest is practically in my backyard so by the end of the year I should know it pretty well.

How do you think circumcision started?
Is there anything more cringe inducing than try hard hunters that whisper 24/7? Fucking speak up faggot. You got fucking bait all over your game trail you cheating fuck. Nobody gives a fuck about your voice.
>>717783
I would argue someone butthurt about people trying to be quiet is more cringe worthy.
>>717783
Before ASMR became a meme, I used rent hunting vids to listen to people whisper.
Was always trying to find female hunters to watch.
How fucking pathetic is that?

Going to try to hit up the pickerel pond again today, get a few pickerel, a few bass, maybe a crappie or two, hopefully I won't loose another lure to a toothy mouth
couldn't resist, got it for 13 and change.
A question for USA citizens, what Is that makes bass such a prized fish? Why is it so popular to fish in the USA?
Hey /out/, /k/omando here, Im looking for a small day pack to take when I go hiking (usually 3-4 hours at most) and I know nothing about them as far as brands to look for and common sizes. I just need something to carry a camera and film, maybe a snack or two and some water for me and my battle buddy. Im looking for something in the size range of pic related, but I really want two shoulder straps. I posted on /k/ but realized this would be a better place for obvious reasons. I saw the backpack general, but the ones listed were all much larger than I'm looking for.
>>718366
Battle buddy doesn't need a ton of water either.
Omg can't you just go to your local /out/thingy seller and buy the first bag you see ? If you're using for 3-4 hours hike there's like really no point on buying anything else but the cheapest bag you can find
>>718366
Pretty much any daypack that REI got on sales and fits your specs. Seriously, it is more about your budget and what features you want than about a specific maker. In general, stay away from Chinese made milspec and you should be OK.
Looking to go on a spend a 5-7 days in Utah doing some backpacking / day hikes in Utah. Will be driving out from WA. I don't like people. Give me some idea /out/. I was thinking about doing Buckskin gulch and some Zion day hikes despite the crowds.
If you go to Zion make sure to hit angels landing. One of the best views I've had ever despite the crowds.
>>720589
That's the one that's on my list to hit. I was thinking that and the subway then move onto to somewhere less crowded.
>>720596
Just a heads up. Be prepared to stop and start quite a bit on the second half, the trail gets narrow and pretty precarious.
Can a bear bite through a human skull?
>>718058
Yes
>>718058
If it can get its mouth around it, probably.
>Be hiking
>Alone
>See a bear on the trail
>It notices me
>Remember to lay down and curl into a ball
>Decide to not do that because fear
>Start getting really fucking mad
>Bear starts meandering towards me
>Bring up my walking stick and charge the bear while yelling
>Bear stumbles and looks confused and starts running away
>Stop yelling but continue the pursuit
>Bear slows down because it cant hear me
>Turns around
>Sees me
>Literally shits itself and bolts up the mountain
>Throw rocks at it while calling it a pussy
Black bears are bitches.

Sure thing bub
Hey anons, my PCT starting date is the 20th of April. When are y'all starting?
Will you be sporting your /out/ bear patch? What's on your mind regarding the trail and your gear?
I got to be honest with you, I'm psyched as hell for the adventure of a lifetime.
Where are you starting out from bro? And do you have a gear list?
>>716712
I'm flying in to San Diego. I still need to work out the details of getting to the southern terminus, either by trail bros giving me a ride or taking a bus out to campo.
My gear list consists of the usual meme crap you can find on blogs, nothing particularly worth noting.
Starting May 6 from Campo. Anyone here over the age of 25 going?
Motopeds - are these still a thing? I came across them while checking out new fx motos which are coming out soon, and thought this motoped would be a cheaper alrernative. But upon looking ( im in australia) it seems like they arent around anymore. Did they go bust or something? Anyone know whats going on with them or where i can get one in australia? The motoped.com.au site looks like no ones been on it since 2014.
Yeah I have one actually , it's a blast around neighborhoods, trails, and off-road , only weighs like 130 lbs
Feel free to ask anything
>>719524
Oh cool, are you in australia?
