Do not promise all the cool things and not deliver. Does it have a keg and/or full bar?
Hey, I have a day off of work tomorrow, and I wanna go on a quality hike. I don't do that type of thing too often, so I don't really know what quality places there are near Portland, OR. Any recommendations? I really don't want to see other people.
>>1068394
I want to be innawoods for most all the day, I'm not confident enough to go camping by myself yet but this would be a nice experience.
You're a stupid fuckwad and anybody within 50 miles of your terrible city deserves a nuclear bomb and I wont help you find hikes in any capacity as your lack of ability to find hikes in such an area is proof enough of what kind of worthless bastard you are ad I hope your family from top to botton gets the worst kind of cancer possible
>>1068409
I know that's why I'm moving out at the end of summer I hate it here
Hey /out was wondering if anyone native to the US owns beetles as pets. If so what species and how did you manage to acquire yours? (Pic not mine)
>>1068209
>tfw forgetting the jade beetle larva in the fridge
They died, but my worm farm is outstanding.
>>1068254
>june beetle
fixed
Sup guys
I'm going /out/ for the first time
Any advice?
To do what...shoot a grizzly? or munch on some granola while doing a backpack walk?
I dunno drink water, make sure your partner isn't sleeping with your best friend.
Bring a knife, matches, water.
Don't die, have a good time.
>>1068119
Beware of mormons.
>>1068119
Don't forget your backup calculator
Has anybody gone on any camping trips through meetups.com? I kind of want to go but am afraid I wouldn't really fit in. Im kind of shy and don't talk a whole lot but I enjoy scenery and company and the occasional little chit chat. So what I want to know is what was it like and what were the people like?
Probably just like you. Go do one and report back.
>>1068052
No, probably better to join a more special group to hang out, more specialized interests the better your social autism will be.
Like conservation, join nature conservancy or sierra club. Meet other granola munchers, hand out with them and go camping.
Like trout fishing, join trout unlimited, meet other fly fishing dorks. Hang out with them.
Like rock climbing, join small rock climbing club.
Like outdoor photography, join a local club...oh you get the point.
>>1068112
Or if your /out/ interests are more generalized, but you're trying to find autistic people to go /out/ with so you don't have to explain the social awkwardness yet again, start a thread on 4chan and find out if there's people there that would be interested.

Anime will be the next OP. No furfaggotry tho. When people tried to post that shit before, somebody kept reporting it. They even reported the weresalmon
Do you guys have weird dreams when sleeping /out/?
Does anyone know anything about this subject?
Yes I have. I had a dream that turned into a furry mountain lion and lived the rest of my life in the woods since I could never return to society. The weird part is that I hate furfaggotry but it was a surprisingly cozy dream.
>>1067941
>Does anyone know anything about this subject?
Yup. Intense dreams are caused by intense emotions. You were probably doing something particularly exciting that day, even if that was just a hike, if it were new and exciting to you, that would still qualify.
>>1067946
The idea that dreams have 'meaning' is only a half-truth. You likely weren't dreaming about being a lion because you're suppressing wanting to be a furry, but rather the meaning is relative to how you in particular feel about lions.
>>1067946
That's weird.
For example tonight I dreamed with people who I have never met and people that I haven't seen in over 10 years. Plus we all were inside a huge ass train that was like a cruise ship and you could leave the train even when it was travelling at high speed.
I didn't do drugs btw.
So, how do we regreen Sahara desert?
It's already proven as doable in other deserts such as gobi desert and the neighboring loess plateau as well as in Israel and jordan
Mr Gaddafi had the right idea but got rekt because it didn't fit globalists interests.
>>1067745
I recall hearing something about how plant growth in deserts is accelerating now, but not sure if that's legit or not. Either way, I think it'd be pretty cool to have an enormous rain forest where the Sahara is. >>1067820 has a good point tho.
Add more carbon to the atmosphere and it would thrive but whitey and his global warming schemers won't allow Africans to reclaum they glory
Amerifags, explain the difference between hiking and thru-hiking. I seriously don't get it, i crossed the alps from Venice to Munich. Was i hiking? Or thru-hiking? Or maybe just walking?
>>1067712
sounds like a made-up and useless distinction, i wouldn't worry about it.
>>1067712
I would call your trek a thru-hike. Venice to Munich, huh? Good job
Now, the actual difference between hiking and thru-hiking, all I can say is that a thru-hike is usually a longer distance trail. Call me out for saying this, but I'd say anything longer than 100 miles is a thru-hike. Tell me if I'm wrong
One of them will give you more instagram credits.
Going to Colorado near the Denver area next week. What are the best /out/ things to do in the area? Preferably in the cheaper side.
>>1067420
Fuck off we're full.
>>1067420
>that pic
I'd suggest climbing. There's all kinds of great climbing if you're willing to drive a small bit.
>boulder at boulder
>climb the flat irons
>drive up some 14ners
>420 blaze it faggot (legally)

Anyone here have experiense on packrafting? It would be nice to have a boat that you can carry basically everywhere and start fishing in remote locations where nobody else cant.
>>1066695
I've used them for hauling dead bear and moose out of the wilderness and that's about it.
Cool idea tho.
>>1066695
No, but those expensive corrugated plastic kayaks that fold up into a backpack are really cool. Saw one at REI and wanted it a lot. If it wasn't $1300 I would have done it, but that's way more than my yearly /out/ gear budget.
Always figured they'd be a chore to paddle in chop, with any kind of headwind, or against a current.
Of course, you can't put a canoe in your backpack.
does /out/ like to SUP?
Seems fun until your standing still for an hour. I'd just bring a kayak.
it's fun enough to do about once a year. just hope you don't hit even the lightest headwind because then you'll hate life
>>1066598
I cant fucking stand SUP niggers, all i hear from Stacys is how they are into SUP and how it the best thing ever not to mention them crowding up the bay when im trying to kayak
The Great Debate
This isn't a debate, at all.

Which lantern does /out/ use while camping/hiking? Need something dependable that won't break the bank and provides decent light for one or two people in the back of the truck or in tent. Would love to hear some suggestions
luci light

i got the frosted one. love it.

>>1066191

>not actually bright enough to see by, certainly not gonna be able to navigate a dark campsite with it
>doesn't actually float, mine sank like a fucking lead ingot so fast you could actually hear the clunk of it hitting the bottom of the tub, also shorted out
fuck no. Worst $15 I've ever spent and I even got a full refund for it.
Is this true?
Absolutely. Foggy hikes are god tier
Yes.
I'm very gracious for what the sun does for us, so no.
