I just became a volunteer firefighter, and was wondering what other /out/ jobs are out there that don't require much experience before hand.

Goodbye decency, hello body oder and herpes.
Oh my fucking god.
It had to be fucking here of all places, as if we didn't have enough FUCKING RETARDED out of state invaders ruining shit.
If dubs, I cleanse it with FIRE.
If trips I cleanse it with allah akbar.
Any ideas on what I can do to ruin this/keep it from happening?
What hat does /out/ wear? Is the Sunday Afternoons Charter hat gud? It seems fucking expensive for a hat but I like that it has a sweatband built in and adjustable fit.
I maintain and cut new trails for work and wear a hat mostly to keep the sweat and mosquito netting off my face. I'm under a canopy most of the time so sun protection isn't too important.

Don't get that, you'll look like an autistic cowboy. Get a MAGA hat you pussy
if its cold: Jeep wool watchcap
if its sunny: Stetson Diaz
Hey /out/
In two weeks I visit my 12th music festival. We are going to camp for 4 days.
It's all fun however there is one inconvenience I want to prevent. I'm going to drink ALOT of beer and afterwards I have soft and greasy shits. It's not diarrhia, just very very very smeary. So I have to wipe endlessly.
Last time I used a whole box of baby wipes in one sitting and there was still shit on it.
So my question. How to I get my shit dry. I DON'T want to get constipated. I just want to shit pretty little dry and hard turds.
Any suggestions?
How baout you wipe your ass with toilet paper instead of baby wipes you little faggot.

This.
Also avoid other greasy food. Eat a lot of spinach.
Eat stuff like bread or popcorn.
Story time
>be me, going for a run
>on a trail which follows a creek through this valley, in a small city but very wooded and isolated
>about two minutes in, see a half dozen large white posters on the opposite side of the creek
>go and check it out because looks important, like warning signs or something
>read signs: it's for a college community "art"project
>on posters stapled to trees are stupid quotes by people like Thoreau and Emerson about "finding yourself in the woods" and some other bullshit
>quotes about being "free" and just "being yourself"
>even worse, each poster had some stupid selfie by the girls who made this "art"
>all of them spinning in a field or leaning against a tree looking deep in black and white
>of course all of them had dyed tumblrhair
>get angry and tear down posters in fit of rage
>collect them all and put in nearest trashcan
These ignorant cunts thought they were doing people good by stapling their masturbatory trash in an otherwise scenic area. I was justified by doing this, right, /out/?

I'm planning on backpacking across Europe as a vagabond/hitchhiker. Sleeping in tents, cooking at campfires, just going where life takes me for a couple of years.
I don't own much in the protection department as I'm from a nefarious no-handgun country, but I have a few good knives that I've collected from being /out/ for a decade. Pic related is what I'm thinking of bringing for general camping use and protection; an almost new Glock Field Knife and a Gerber Guardian Backup that I'll use at boot knife.
Do you guys have any better ideas for protection while hitchhiking?
>Muh Knoife
>Muh Protection
A hiking staff gives you more reach and keeps toyr knife from breaking or getting stuck on things you need protection from.
>>789469
Two birds with one stone. I want something functional that I can also use in case someone tries to rob my ass while I'm traveling through some shitty country.
Why don't you own a turnstile faggot?
?
I bet fucking in one of those is fun as hell.

these do seem sort of cool. But how much does the entire system weigh? including all those heavy duty ratchet strap things.
I'm guessing it must be a 10+ pounds
/SonsOfNeptune/ general.
How come /out/ never has any threads about the most vast wilderness of all, the ocean (besides fishing threads)?
Anyone setting sail on any adventures soon? Diving trips? Maritime-camping?
I'm thinking of trying my hand at life-raft survival sometime, videoing it. Starting with just 2 or 3 days and working up from there.
>>788269
Sailing costs money. Most folks here are of a demographic that doesn't have that kind of money. If you want to talk about sailing you really need to talk to recently retired boomers.
>>788279
A used sailboat costs less than a half-decent used car these days, a used motorboat can usually be had for the price of the engine bolted to it.
>>788287
I priced a used boat at about $19k usd which isn't bad if you plan on living on it (i do). But from my understanding docking fees are a bitch. As for a tin can with a motor you gotta make sure its seaworthy. Cant take a lake boat to the ocean without getting capsized
Hey /out/
what plans or preparations did you set-up incase Shit will hit a fan, any acolaypse may it be a sun storm, aliens, some weird virus or downfall of our civizilation.
I got here a Xbow with some knives and plan to escape the nederlands before it will start. I plan to drive to eastern europe. and hide in the woods.
what's your plan?
>>773135
>People always thinking that if shtf they'll be fine and can leave while others are dying.
If shit goes south you'll probably die like others
>>773135
I tried hanging out in the woods for the night by my self and got spooped by footsteps and someone replying to my hello
I think I saw too much skin walker threads for my own good.
/out/ how do I make weapons in the woods and not be afraid of sleeping alone out there?
I can't believe foot steps threw me off.
One preperation for SHTF is to definitely get a double stack handgun and a way to cook, clean water, find food.
And one in central mass wanna help me about the alone in the woods and not thinking this there is ghosts?
>>773145
I will be this summer trying to sleep in the woods. i never did it. when i have arms near me it gives me a safer feeling. thats why i always sleep with a knife :) ghosts don't exists. remember people are the danger. i will try to enhance my farming skills a bit. I already know how to spot eatable mushrooms in the woods. so thats a plus for me

So I'm living I'm San Francisco for a while. And I also love to hike from 1hour to about 3 or 4 hours. My foot size is about 9&half to 10. I have flat feet. I can't figure what boots are right for me especially since I have no experience with boots. I'm also rucking with about 30-40lbs in my pack to prep for the marines (have a few years for that) and I need boots that could help form my feet or help them get used to being in boots for the military. I don't know if that made sense but any help would be appreciated!

The thread is just some asshat who is jacking off over a shitting pair of boots and is more stubborn then a Moms Demand Action rally when supported with facts against the boot

I don't know what thread to post this in, but I'm fucking pissed as fuck right now and want to act fast.
I have 30 tomato plants in my yard. I don't spray my lawn because it's bad for just about everything (I need pollinators, and pollinators love clover), but my pompous asshole neighbors complained so much that I finally paid truegreen to come spray the grass areas of my lawn. I have 18 tomatoes in black dirt with only about 24 inches of dirt between my caged plants and the lawn, and my best guess is that the lazy shit they hired to spray out here stood up straight, sprayed around the perimeter, and the wind picked up, because 6 of the 18 are suddenly looking flimsy. Is anything going to get these plants back to health, or is it all for nothing?
>>795773
>Nope, sorry for your loss. Sue them.
I'm not a professional farmer. I can't monetize the value of my plants, and that's all the lawsuits would pay for.
I'm just a person who grows my own damn food.
>>795771
Where is it commonplace to "spray your lawn"? Sprayed with what?
Why would your neighbors complain?
Hey /out/
just out of curiosity, how many of you go camping with only tarp shelters? I've only done it a few times and it's been fun.
If anyone does it regularly, what tarps do you use? I've used only cheap blue harbor freight tarps and they've been trashed out when I got back home. I was testing a new idea of mine earlier today and the tarp tore before I even finished setting it up. The shelter seemed to work nicely, had good cover, wasn't too big as to keep some heat in, and I believe would have kept me dry, except for the hole.
Also, what kinds of shelters do you make? If you've got pictures of diagrams of some shelters post em if you want.
>>795736
I use tarps all the time. Either with hammocks, stretched over my bivy tent if bad rain, or over my cot if I'm in my jeep. Lean-to set ups are really easy and work good, a frame set ups also work nice. I'm a fan of packing two small tarps and making two lean-tos, or a large a frame set up. Gives you plenty of room and options incase you're in a bad storm and have to shift around much.
The $12 double ply tarps at walmart is good to go. I use them a lot of the cheap ones from ollies, which isn't that good, but they work and they're light.
Tarp + bivy shelter seems like the best combo for an individual, assuming there are trees to anchor it to or you use trekking poles. If it's a clear night you don't need to bother to set up the tarp because a little bit of dew in the morning isn't going to phase you in your bivy shelter, or your pack assuming you've packed properly. And if it's threatening to rain it's a really quick and simple way to add an extra layer of protection.
Wind obviously plays havoc with them though. Need to make sure they're staked down really well.
I just bought this one:
https://aquaquest.ca/product/guide-sil-tarp-med/
Very light and compact, and doesn't make the crinkling noise that you get with polyurethane tarps. Obviously much more expensive though. Got mine for $89 on Amazon.
Polyurethane tarps are very easy to get in any size imaginable and are dirt cheap. However in addition to the noise issue, they don't last. The grommets tear out, they get holes easily which continually grow, and they tend to develop tiny holes along the creases if you fold them. So basically just roll them instead of folding, and replace them when you start to notice tears. Like $10 so who cares if you have to buy a new one every year. Twice the weight of a sil tarp.
You can often get surplus shelter-halfs for next to nothing as well. They work fine but are typically heavy as death. Used to dread having to hump that thing around. Either nylon or rubberized cotton duck. Incredibly sturdy and built with making a shelter in mind, unlike poly tarps. More than twice the weight of a poly tarp for the same area.
Friendly reminder to vaccinate against ticks before going camping into the woods
Where was this picture taken? Its driving me crazy, looks like I know it
Central park no?
not too many low buildings for central park? almost looks like the eiffel tower in the distance

yeah brodunk it's central park. that cool building on the right is the famous/iconic San Remo apartment building
a lot of the park, especially the northern half is up in the more residential areas of the city, Harlem, etc, away from downtown and skyscrapers and junk. NYC is a lot bigger than it seems
