hi
i have a pair of corcoran marauders that i've been taking hiking and i really like them, but they're my black workboots and they're getting beat to shit.
should i get another pair in brown/tan, or should i get some kind of hiking boot? i'm doing day hikes right now, but i'm working towards multiple day backpacking trips.
thanks in advance
anyone?
Get something other than army jump boots.
I say the latter, they're more comfortable and meant for hiking.
Although I live and breathe in my army boots, I wouldn't say they're the greatest for hiking. They're meant for combat.

fair enough, that's what i was thinking too. they feel great but something's telling me there's room for improvement.
any brands or models you'd recommend? anything to stay away from?
Anyone manage and REI or an MEC outdoors store here? I was thinking of putting my resume in, just curious what I might be getting into. I have worked at bike shops/retail before, so I am not a complete idiot.

thanks.

There are atleast 2 rei employees that post here but I don't think they are managers. If you check one of the archives you can probably find an ama.
The jist of it iirc is that the rei employee discount is sick but they are sort of a cult.
What happened to that goofy Bill guy? They wrote him out of the show this season and replaced him with a poof.
>and yes I can't spell in webm
Bill was a fucking disgusting retard, muh spiritual connection with trees.
This new kiwi lad seems a legit hard cunt.
In all honesty they should make a spinoff with Cody Lundin and Matt Graham.
Would be the coziest /out/ show ever
Is there some trick to filling up Platypus bags? I bought one of these things to use with my Sawyer filter and I've been having a hell of a time trying to fill it using my bathtub to simulate a shallow pool of water. The best method I've been able to come up with is sort of a scooping motion, but it takes forever. Just immersing the thing usually ends up with the water level in the bag actually decreasing.
I mean, it works and everything but it's just a pain in the ass to fill. I was wondering if there's some sort of trick to make it easier.
>>800387
What did you expect when you bought it? It obviously has a small opening that isn't really suited for what you want.
Platypus makes bags that unzip entirely on one end that you could fill in seconds.

Just buy a large propel or smart water bottle. That's what I use for my sawyer
Can /out/ recommend me a good pair of gloves to use during various/out/ tasks?
Ty.

Wow a retard.
Hey, /out/
South I caught this weird caterpillar/worm thing eating the leaves of some pumpkins I'm growing. I flicked it onto the ground and burned it alive with my lighter because it looked like it had done some damage to my pumpkin sprouts. Does anyone know what it is? I feel kinda bad for burning it alive but I had to defend my pumpkins.
Pic related, it's the caterpillar worm thingy. Could it have damaged my pumpkins at all?
This was the leaf I found the little bugger on. Will this Pumpkin still grow properly?

Oops the image didn't post.

Who here cuts your own fire wood? What's your prefered type of wood? I got this 1970s Pioneer Holiday and love it, and I've cut down a couple larch trees. Post your chainsaws/cutting gear

It's way past my bedtime. At least I got out and caught a couple largemouth today. I'm convinced it would've been more if it weren't for the damn wind. Feeling bites and setting the hook on the Texas rigs with wind blowing from the side is difficult. And fishing a lighter finesse Texas rig or shakey head is almost impossible with the wind. Such is Florida.
Sprayed Grass might be the best Zoom color after Chartruese Pepper. In green-tinted water, the Sprayed Grass color seems to kill it whether it is the worms or the brush hogs.
>$200 Reward for Sir Nibblesworth
Talk about fishing.

Why the fuck did you let him go?
Planning on doing like 15 days on the Camino de Santiago in Spain this winter. Don't want to use one of those trendy, flashy polyester bags everyone has these days. Looking for something a little more subtle and stylish.
Doesn't need to be huge because I'm not planning on bringing camping gear, but would prefer a bag with an internal/external frame.
Any ideas welcome.
Pic related to what I'm after
Found this one. Looks pretty cool but very pricey at $390. Made in the USA though.
Appears to be associated with Duluth Trading Co. Only thing I'm not sure about is that it doesn't have any kind of frame.
Another angle of same one
How can you expect something that small to have a frame ?
Just put a plastic board inside

Over the garden wall is a comfy cartoon to watch if you haven't already watched it

Watched the entire series in one sitting about 30 mins ago - top quality recommendation
I got a baaaad feeling on this one there, Fats.
>natural disasters are kind enough to avoid the borders of Virginia

When?
>>798513
that's for tomorrow (weds) through thurs morning
heavy rain, large hail, strong winds, possible tornadoes
I would not be surprised in the least bit for widespread power outages
Anyone here into geocaching, how do I get into it? Is there a particular app you use.
How about you take 3 seconds to use google?
>>798414
That box is missing something...
>>798414
I found about 8 geocaches out of 12.
then I figured out it's not worth the hassle to search it.
I'm just enjoying the walk to the place where it's hidden and walk back then.
You are now aware that a pack filled with 30 pounds of peanut butter will keep you alive considerably longer than a pack filled with 30 pounds of gear.
How do you feel?
>>797394
>30 pounds of gear
gonna have to be more specific there, anon.
but yeah, 30 lbs of pb will keep you alive longer than 30 lbs of gaiters
>>797394
Yea but have you ever filled your tent with 30lbs of sleeping bags?
>>797394
Asian here.
I pack 30 lbs of dog.
