Plan some high energy physical activity towards sunset so that they'll be tired out (ie nice and quiet) in the evening for dinner / bed. Otherwise you'll have a bunch of hyperactive shits running around in the dark.

>Knights, mounts and cavaliers
>Red rover
>freeze tiggy (tag)

>tunnel ball

I was thinking red rover too but that game is banned in a lot of schools now. If you have a field, running bases is good, just need a tennis ball, a couple sweatshirts to use for bases, and a couple of counselors or chaperones that want bean screaming children with a tennis ball.
500 was fun too. Just need a ball and clearing

Dunno how little these kids are, but I remember playing red light green light when I was tiny.

Literally just ficking water it. I didn't respond to your last thread because the question is so ficking stupid.

Did your grass never brown in the summer as a kid? It happens. Just water it.

Don't drown it. Just water it every evening untill the lawn turns damp. Then every few evenings after that untill it starts growing again.

It isn't rocket surgery

Does anyone on /out/ do historical camping?
Me and a friend are trying to get into with using the kit of an american woodsman / longhunter from around 1760-1800. Was wondering if out could give any tips, especially as we'll be using basic kit by todays standards.

Sounds pretty cool. I wouldn't do it on a regular basis, but it's fun to try shit out. why don't you test these things out yourself and report. Some OC pics would be nice.

What do you do for a tent/tarp?

Any good places to camp in Ohio? Pretty boring geographically wise...

Wayne national forest has several backpacking trails that can be decent.

Other than that, it's state parks and forests, both of which prohibit open fires and harvesting fire wood.

Heading out to vesuvius lake myself on the weekend of the 29th...hopefully its not shit.

If you're willing to drive to KY, Red River Gorge is beautiful.

Planning on buying an Orvis Clearwater outfit.

I've heard that you can't beat Private support, and that's what sold me. I'm rough on my gear.

Would my money be spent better elsewhere?

TFO is the most cost efficient choice and of course comes with lifetime warranty.

Once you want to upgrade, Sage would be another good pick but overly expensive yet has proper support/warranty compared to Orvis.

If those are not what you are looking for, check out Allen Fly Fishing; I have never had an issue with orders of hooks, materials, fly line/leaders, and more. I would imagine their advertised rod/reel combinations when on sale could match TFO on cost efficiency and they offer lifetime warranty with all but their cheapest rod. There are always 5%-10% discount codes available for Allen Fly Fishing as well, if not currently then just wait within the month at worst.

http://www.allenflyfishing.com/compass-rod-series/

Orvis is meme and extremely overpriced with shit warranty when others offer lifetime warranty.

It is essentially the Surly equivalent for fly fishing.

Amateurs, Sponsored fishermen, Reddit spergs, Dentists, and others whom never reach a true enthusiast's level of said hobby.

If you say where you will be fishing and what bodies of water I am sure /out/ can offer advice on what weight/height rod as well as fly line/leader/tippet/flies if you are new to fly fishing.

For most people learning, fly fishing is not much more difficult than using a spin rod. The hardest thing for anyone that I have taught has been to remember that the casting weight is in the fly line instead of the hook.
>>
>>811564
Thanks for the info. Looking at it now.

I live in central NC. I'm a lifelong brim fisherman, and bass when my buddy with aboat is off work. I also go up to the mountains a lot and would love to try trout.

My main goal is to take my fishing to a new level. I'll always love sitting on bucket on a lake bank somewhere in the woods, but lately I've been wanting something more.
>>
>>811585
I would suggest to not go higher than 6weight rod/reel for those fish and waters.

You would possibly want to select Coldwater fly line but depending on your budget, most outfits have slim options if any for backing and fly line. Weight Forward is usually good for a starting fly line as it helps with casting; another option which comes with most starter kits is balanced fly line which is not tapered. You would see it labeled as WF6 or similar (weight forward for 6 weight).

As much as I dislike Orvis products, I would definitely recommend their Fly Fishing video lessons:
http://howtoflyfish.orvis.com/video-lessons

For the fish mentioned I would recommend 5x-7x leader and tippet.

If you were to make your own fancy outfit in the future, I would strongly suggest Waterworks-Lamson reels or Sage reels. Lifetime warranty and quality:

Tell us where you're going. Things are going to be different if you're in the southern or northern hemisphere, desert or temperate rainforest, etc.
Shops you can buy gear from:

Secondhand stores (americans call them thrift stores)

Military surplus
things you need:

backpack, big enough to fit all you need
sleeping bag. doesn't have to be good since I assume it's summer where you are
Maybe a hoodie or waterproof jacket if it gets cold or rains.
A good knife. Moras are a meme but they're cheap as fuck, or get a scondhand one.
Tarp.
Groundsheet.
Food. I like noodles (americans call them ramen), canned foods, granola bars, etc.
Sandals or go barefoot if you don't want to get city shoes dirty.
Some spare string.
Water with a bottle.
A pan for cooking food.

you'll be fine mate

More info on where, when, and how would give you better answers.

That said here's a few general things I can think of for being /out/ in general:

-water, bring a little more than you think and drink more than you want.

-snacks. In addition to eating meals, snack a lot. Being outside burns a ton of calories, and often times you might not even realize it. If you find yourself tired or angry, take a break and eat something.

-wool or polar-fleece jacket/sweater (if possible, don't sweat it if all you have is cotton). Even in the middle of summer, it gets cold at night. The wool/polar fleece is because it keeps you warm even if it's wet, unlike cotton. This leads me to my next point...

-a cotton bandanna. lots of uses. in the summer heat it's really nice to soak and then tie around the head, or have on the neck.

-duct tape (repairs, good for blisters if hiking)

-bug spray (bring a ton of it if youre going somewhere low and buggy)

-entertainment (deck of cards, book, instrument, small portable game)

-a hat. yes your fedora could work, or just a cap or anything to keep the sun off. Maybe sunglasses, maybe both, whatever makes you comfy.

If you are hiking, there are a few more things to consider.

-talc powder (gold bond) or vaseline or anti-chaffe stuff. This is a godsend when you need it, and life sucks without it. Your nuts will thank me.

-extra socks

-find two sticks for walking with

-do away with extravagances, try to pack lightly. It really matters for comfort and it's easier to realize you could've carried more than to realize you can't carry what you brought anymore. Don't pack your fears.

Above all else, trust your brother and coordinate with him on what you bring. Have fun, take pictures and tell us how it goes.

i have a '95 land cruiser that ive had for about 2 years now. fully stock except has a set of 33"s on it.
thinking of finally jumping into some actual upgrades so i can tackle some more serious terrain and get further /out/
probably going to go with
35" bfg ko2s
3 inch ome suspension lift
roof rack + mounts for hi lift jack/shovel/jerry cans/axe/etc.
might consider front bull bar as well but that will probably be further into the future

thoughts?
>>
>>809668
So this is a car camping thread?
>ultralight is for faggots
So sitting on your fat ass while driving a car is less manly than carrying gear into the mountains on your back?
What have you been smoking?
Car exhaust?

And there is already a thread about this
>>798515
But I guess checking the catalog is for faggots too
>>
>>809681
who said this was about being manly faggot
and i actually think ultralight is cool this is just the total opposite of it

and this is a thread about vehicle based travel i.e. what your set up is, what your gear is and where you have driven.
the 'officially /out' car covers none of that

You will quickly end up with 15 of them. Seriously, just having one is boring. It dosen't take that much of your time so if you wanna be like mr.Miyagi you'll end up growing quite a few. Also consider that most species require a decent amount of light. I never had outdoors ones so I can't help you with that. I'm kind of a newfag to bonsais anyways, but after 1 year I think it's fun.

Recently got this as my everyday bag and so far its great. Side pockets each hold either a 1L drink bottle or thermos. 3 different pouches inside so laptop, tablet, paperwoek/books. Also has a hole up top to use a hydration bladder. Has heaps of pockets and pouches to keep lottle things safe and secure. Repels light rain pretty well too.

Not bait anon, although I have gone fishing. I've paddled a few times but I don't get why anyone would need a wet suit. Mass water is cold as a witches titty compared to so cal water. If that the only reason that surfers wear wetsuits here then they're a bunch of pussies.
