Whats the group opinion on Neverwet for backup rain gear/daily use?
>>950388
From what I've seen, i want to try it on med to low priced gear to abuse it.
>>950388
It works great until the texture smudges, which pretty much happens as soon as you stuff it inside your bag or a branch rubs up against it.
It's pretty good for cars, where nothing really touches it except water though.
Im trying it on a set of BDUs, Ill report back with initial findings and whatnot. Is there anything else that it would be worthy testing on?
spinoza came up with the idea of recognizing god as the sum of all the natural laws of the universe. god is not the creator, he is creating the universe.
Einstein was a believer in the spinozan god and when im camping or hiking i believe it more and more. seeing the randomly evolved plants, animals, and world, i cant believe that it isnt created by something or someone or being created.
how can you not believe in god while immersing yourself in the beautiful natural world around us? do you think we were just wired to think like this from evolving in the wild?
>>947598
>randomly evolved
Just this phrase alone means you do not understand evolution.
I am not going to try to explain it to you, but you really need to do some reading.
Its possible you went to a terrible college or at least one weak in the sciences
>>947614
Randomly evolved isn't the wrong way to put it. We say survival of the fittest is what drives evolution, but what determines fitness is a series of random factors caused by atoms in the sun and how they energize atoms on our Earth. Atoms follow a predictable set of rules, but those rules are random, or at least beyond our understanding.

shut up ya 12 year old fag
now a chromosome fusing into another ONCE, i could believe
but it happened TWICE to the chromosomes of a chhimpanzee
some "entity", took a chimp, fused 2 pairs of chromosomes together, added a few more genes, and thats what a human is
and thats why a chimp has 48 chromosomes, we have 46, yet still share almost every bit of genetic information
Is this one of the best items you can keep in your pack?
Its small, light. Anti fungal, antibacterial, helps loosen tight muscles and stiff joints, alleviates pain, helps with stomach aches, headaches, stuffy noses, mosquito bites, keeps bugs and pests away, it's flammable so it can be used to start fires, etc.
Also other out items with 10,000 uses most people don't think about.
I wouldn't carry it. One false move and you've got it on your dick. Trust me, you do not want this stuff on your dick.
>>933858
Bruh if you can't carry something in your pack without it accidentally touching your dick I never want to have a meal with you
>>933858
Please I've put it on my dick on purpose (and my asshole too) it's not that bad, you pussy.

How does it work?
And why ?

This is being pushed by the citrus lobby just to find ways to destroy our wilderness with even more orange and other citrus peels. Straight into the bin with it.

Pls not this thread too.
Those trailer hitch bike racks are dope, too bad something like that wouldn't work with a kayak.
I'm bad at fishin so I take picture of my stuff
I was hiking with some friends up a tiny mountain on the NC border the other day and I saw a guy walk by with one of these fuckers hung under each arm.
Not sure if hipster or what, but I can't imagine they make the water taste very good.
my girlfriend got me one of those
I remember seeing them at sports authority and from what I've experienced and can tell you, for the tiny amount of water that they carry, you'd be much better off with a Nalgene or even a Smartwater bottle. both of which would be much more convenient to carry.
hipster meme garbage.

Are you retarded? Those were pouches of black powder for his flintlock rifle. Probably cosplaying Louis &clark or some shit. The man is clearly more /out/ than you OP
Who the fuck puts water inna Botta Bag?

What do y'all use?
I have a streamlight stinger DL(don't use as much), nitecore mh25 and just ordered a nitecore mh27uv. What do you guys use? (Any type of lighting for outdoors)
BD Spot

Moonlight. It's worked for everyone else in the last million years.

So I'm a click away from ordering an ESEE 6 with associated molle crap when I thought I should consult with my favorite dudes on whether there is a better use for my $200.
Thoughts or suggestions?
tacticool
Overpriced
Too big for real outdoors use, cool to fuck around.
You'll get sick and tired of a knife that big and heavy and cumbersome if you spend days outdoors and have to do menial tasks with it daily.
ESEE rust like mutherfuckers
Lurk around on the second hand market for one at a better pricepoint, quality knives only gain character with use.
I have the cm6 which is ok. I considered buying a 3 for mountaineering but set my mind on better options.
ESEE are good "package" knives, good knife+sheath pack for the beginner or for gifting someone.
Get a bk16, with a kydex sheat and micarta scales.
You guys have a spot? Maybe few people know about. Maybe you even discovered it. Maybe its is a well known area.
Just somewhere you really like and feel comfortable in.
If so describe or pics.
This is mine. Its a bend in a canyon where the water slows down and gets deep. Perfect swimming spot, and only a short bike ride into the bush from my house.
>>944732
I've got a small cave I dug out near a campsite that I'm sure I'm the only one to have been there. Area kinda looks like your pic, really rocky area of the river. Not very deep but the fishing is good.
I dug the cave out so I could store stuff that'd be cumbersome to hike out each time, things like buckets/rope/tent steaks/hatchet you get the idea. It's 5 years old and no ones messed with my stuff yet. River had one of those 100 year floods and and got into it once, but I dug it out and up some more and hopefully that helps next time.
I had a spot that I thought I was the only person that knew about it.
Hard to get to.
Climbing huge hills for miles completely off any paths.
Mentioned it on /k/, and two people knew the exact spot.
Sigh.
Grouse hotspots, dozens that are less than 10 acres in size, scattered throughout the National Forest. I don't take photos, because xif tagging and very few grouse hunters know what makes a honeyhole. I'm still learning after 40 years.
Hey guys I am going to the Smoky mountains real soon what are the destinations in and around the park i should not miss.
>>949706
Do the longer trails. The short ones are overrun with fatties and are essentially paved
didn't a lot of it burn down a few months ago?
>>950132
obviously that's why it's the great SMOKY mountains np.
I need an ultra-light weight camper trailer I can take across country with my 2015 Prius.
Yes, I know its a fag car, but its all I have and cant afford to buy a van.
What do?

First off, you're gay.
Just admit that and I will help you.
>>949172
yes, i am gay. please help

Ok, thank you for coming to terms with your mental illness.
I will help you.
The Prius can't tow a shopping cart, buy a sleeping bag and a tent, you're welcome.
Has anyone here worked on a farm before? What were your experiences like?
A few small farms near me are offering internships and it sounds nice to do physical work outdoors instead of wagecucking at a gas station
>>948735
Yes.
Protip, western US cattle feed lot hard, good food.
>i was lucky to include that in my development

I always wanted to do one of those organic farm programs abroad

What do you guys carry as a means to stay warm and dry for a night or two if you get stuck somewhere innawoods?
Say for backwoods day-sports like mountain bike riding where you only have a day pack or hydration pack. What should I have in case I get stuck?
Is pic related gud?
Had a scary experience recently where my bike failed and couldn't be repaired. It was getting dark and I was a long walk back to the truck. My buddies rode off to get the truck and I waited on a service road. It started to rain. They weren't back for an hour, by which time I was wet and miserable but otherwise fine. I was thinking that if something happened to them, then I'd be fucked.
>>948453
Risking being "that guy" because people may either ignore you or tell you intentionally bad advice. What you have should do fine for peace of mind. What experienced there, however, was discomfort. Which wasn't too catastrophic, just unpleasant. Unless you think you would find yourself in a situation or area where 911 wouldn't air lift you out or couldn't find you, then I'd consider something like this. But that's just me. If you're going to get that route I'd get something for water collection and filtration too but I'd also look at the elements you'd be exposed to and other things you might have more use for. Hope I helped.
My emergency kit for this kind of thing, where I might be stuck or injured somewhere overnight, consists of a small tarp, some cordage, a thermal undershirt and underwear, rolled up waterproof shells (coat and pants), a filter, a lighter and some alcohol soaked cottonballs. Plus a source of light, a knife and a small medkit. I need to pick up a small water filter sometime soon as well. It's all light and packs down small. I do a lot of off-track stuff, so if I do ever get lost or stuck it's there. Plus I use most of it regularly anyway.
The 10 c's of survival by dave canterbury is a good basis for a survival kit.

Sorry my mountains don't stand up to your standards. I just like getting outside and getting up high as I can.
Anyone else on /out/ still listen to shortwave radio?
I use the Tecsun PL-660 and it's great. It's very durable and it picks up SW broadcasts well, especially when I'm out of FM Range and AM stations are inaudible during the daytime.
>>947938
I have a PL-680 which I sometimes use while /out/.
Propagation conditions were great today so I was picking up a lot of American East coast stations loud and clear. Very pleased.
Also good for listening to radio ameteurs. Have you ever been able to pick up anything on the air band?
>>947938
Got that exact radio. Always had a tough time pulling in any stations that aren't jesus radio or Alex jones. (I'm in the us) probably mostly an antenna and interference issue.
Fm is good with that gain switch. Pretty meaty ferrite bar for am. But I dunno if I'd call it durable.
If you get a tunable loop antenna, you'll be able to get am stations from insane distances with this.
I have 2 pl-360's. Never used them, bought got a good deal on them(2 for the $40, both with extra external wire FM/SW antennas). I mostly chose them for the price, and formfactor(strapping it onto a belt is easier since its basically the same size/shape as a 600ml bottle. Slips into a bottle holder on a bag without problem.)
Seems theres been 2 revisions since i bought them to add more features and better battery life. Meh. I figure the reception in my area is shit anyway(middle of Canada) so not much use anyway, until i actually take one out camping.
