I was in the amazon a few years ago around this time of year, its fucking amazing and youre gonna have the time of your life.

ALWAYS check your shoes before putting them on. I went on a multi hour hike, and when I got back I took my shoe off and out came a fucking massive cockroach. I was lucky it wasn't something more nasty.

Enjoy the 'mazon anon.

Batoning is just a euphemism for beating your knife with a club like some kind of neolithic caveman. It is the number 1 cause of broken knifes. If you really need to split wood, made a wooden wedge.

Hi there. I got to interview with the Washington DNR for one of their Forest Management Internships. Has anyone here worked for them before? How competitive is it to get one of their jobs? I'm really nervous even though I think the interview went well. If I did get a job with them, what kind of cool /out/ stuff is there to do during the summer either in the Olympic peninsula or the Sedro Wooley area (aside from hiking obviously)?

How do we stop Big Green from DESTROYING our environment?

This new program besides being a pain in the ass, costing $100 million and requires the production of 100,000 more garbage cans each using 1 barrel of oil, which I remind you is bad, it does absolutely nothing positive.

It does increase the fleet of trash trucks, diesel burned and create many more highly paid carbon footprints for new bureaucrats and other neer do wells.

How do we stop them from ruining our bushcraft areas with composting facilities and government parking lots?

Dismantle the EPA. No more EPA, fewer jobs for enviro majors. Fewer jobs for enviro majors, fewer enviros running around implementing their "genius" ideas.
>>
>>950338
Exactly. We need less regulations for companies. Let them figure out the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of waste. Booming economy = more people pulling themselves up by the bootstraps.
>>
>>950346
Regulation is fine. But we need regulation of regulation. Unregulated regulation is killing our country.

Lads help me. I grill keeps saying that she wants to get into mountaineering and climbing and I'm 95% sure this is also her hinting she wants me to take her out on a date. How do I do woo her with this?

This is my plan:
>invite her to go hiking
>choose an easy but beginner friendly, scenic, and not overly crowded hike
>take her out there
>bring a long a small folding table and stools
>surprise her with wine and homemade bread on the summit

Sound good?

Table and stools? Sounds like you're going to turn a really simple hike into a struggle. Women aren't impressed by watching a guy struggle to do simple things.

The most you should carry is a light blanket. I'd also trade the bottle for a wine bag because broken glass sucks.

I wish you the best. And by best, I mean I hope you get laid and then realize that getting your dick wet isn't worth being told how to live for the rest of your life.
>>
Take her on a short hike. Keep talking about your cock. Eventually whip it out. If she likes you you get a bj, if she doesn't like you drop the bitch. No sense wasting energy wooing because she already knows if she wants to swallow your seed

Pic related - Fjallraven Skogso jacket

Hah! I own that jacket. Really like it. At the time I was looking for something that would basically be a upgrade from wearing a classic woodsman shirt when outside and when I did not need a full water proof. So aestethic, light softshell I guess.
>>
>>946844
Ok but in your best effort at being unbiased... Is it comfortable?

I'd really like to buy one (the unlined version). I bought something kind of similar material wise, and while it was aesthetic, I found it bunchy and uncomfortable. Is the skogso cut in such a way that makes it comfy? I have no way to try it on first

So, /out/, my girlfriend has started a new job that involves remote field work from helicopters for anywhere up to 10 days at a time and she has to take her own food. Do any of you have some high energy density recipes you use on hunting/camping trips to keep you going throughout the day. There is a complication: she is vegetarian. Yeah I know, what reason does a chick that takes blood and tissue samples from animals they just shot have being vegetarian. Just help a brother out; I'm trying to be a supportive boyfriend. Doesn't matter if it is a little bulky because they tend to fly from a base camp out in the scrub, but she needs things she can throw in a small pack for the trips each day/overnight.

While I went camping in my youth, I haven't been in at least 15 years so have no idea what to suggest to her food-wise. That is why I need your help. Ideally it would be something easy to make in bulk that will keep unrefrigerated in basically tropical conditions for up to a week.

Of course, feel free to include non-veg stuff for the sake of some good content. At least I'll enjoy eating when I finally go camping again at the end of this month.

Pemmican. It's nutritionally complete, shelf-stable, and is made of a few easily a obtainable ingredients.

>ground jerky - protein, low fat content is ideal for long-term storage.
>rendered suet - calories, fatty acids, and doesn't rot or spoil making it ideal for long-term storage.
>dried berries - vitamins, minerals, and sweetener.

Mix it all together in a big bowl, flatten it out in a pan, and cut candy-bar sized slices. Each candy-bar slice is nutritionally sufficient for one adult human for one day. By smothering your dried ingredients in the rendered suet you are sealing them in a coat of rot-proof, spoil-proof, and calorie-dense medium.

I'm going to a music festival and WILL BE in the front row for my favorite artist. Unfortunately, I know for a fact I'll have to pee in the 3-5 hours I'll be stuck in between 10,000 people. The Stadium Gal is $35 and I've heard it's a one time use thing. Anyone ever heard a creative, inexpensive, or easy and clean way to not have to 'use the facilities' in the middle of a crowd of people and not have to buy one of these crazy expensive plastic bags?

If you do enough molly you will be so sweaty you won't have time to piss.

Remember to just drink plenty of water.
>>
The plan here is to go to a concert and carry a plastic bag with you to piss into. Unfortunately, the preferred plastic bag is too expensive, and you are looking for ideas to do this on the cheap.

Just making sure I understand.

Just had an idea that I haven't seen anywhere and wanted to share. I've been testing a tarp hammock and wool blanket combo for lighter season casual camping. Often the solution to cold temperatures is an under quilt as pictured. But then I thought about bushcraft shelters using leaves as insulation. Why not just hang your hammock low and build a pile of leaves beneath so that when you get in you are nestled in the pile? Has anyone attempted this? I will be trying it out when I have time soonish to know for myself the practicality.

>>
>>934839
Spiders and other critters may be an issue for people who are squeamish about that sort of thing, and I doubt that leaves would trap air as well as a pad or underquilt (though still a lot more than nothing). There's also the fact that if the leaves get wet, your hammock will soak through into your bag and clothing. That said, you might have something there, so long as you're realistic about the drawbacks.
>>
>>934841
There are definitely always drawbacks and I have no delusions of grandeur in regard to surpassing modern tech in function. That being said I am glad you agree that there is potential. I've been designing a pseudo minimalist overnight pack and one facet is a tarp hammock. I would like to be able to use it 3/4 seasons here in New England for casual one night camps and worry that the cold will shut me out in early spring and late fall. There are supposed to be some nice days coming up and I have a day off of work which will avail me a night to test the idea. I'm thinking I could maybe even build a small fence around the leaves to contain them. I could use sticks or perhaps even just paracord looped around the trees I am hanging on.
>>
>>934841
>>934860
P.s. using a tarp hammock helps largely prevent moisture issues.
