What are some good ways of keeping synthetic clothing from smelling like balls?
>>1007026
keep your balls nice and fresh that way it's not a problem.
wash them
wear non-synthetic base layers - this is what I do, merino for hygiene over pertex and fleece mid
>>1007026
Don't wear your clothes.
Lets be honest guys, this is a way more efficient and safet way to carry your gear.
A rucksack is all in one spot. Just consider gravity for just a moment.
This is going to be the future of hiking.
Might as well get used to it now.

>6kg of ballistic nylon pouches

>can't go any faster than a walk without shit bouncing everywhere
>nowhere to carry bulky items like a sleeping bag

>autism level 100 achieved
yep don't see anything wrong with it.
I work as a ringer or stockmen on a 750000 acre property in Australia. Basically a cowboy without the horses and less gay sex. Camping out mustering cattle flood fencing, yard work. Working with real man killer beasts. Normally bulls are pretty bad but these cunts are fucked out hete
Lots of good out places here. The house burnt down the other night so stayed up on a hill. Had dingos come right up to the swags in the night. Half breeds that are really aggressive because of pig hunting dogs bred into them.
But might be looking for my next career. Share some stories and help me out, or ask me some shit.

130 a day no living ecpenses. I buy beer and smokes, toiletries and maybe a treat or two .
Get about 3500 a month
This is a pretty fucking big bull . Won't get much bigger
>>1006151
Why don't you get a real job so you can save up and buy your own 750000 acre property instead of kicking other people's shit around for beer and smokes you fucking reprobate
Why is it so difficult to find a good Gore-Tex smock, or any at smocks at all? Why don't people go for them?
Pretty sure Arc'Teryx makes one, but since it's Arc'Teryx it's also gonna be about 5 gorillion dollars
>>1004348
It's not, Swazi sell several models. Only drawback is they're handmade in a first world country where the minimum wage is $15.75/hr (that's NZ dollars) so they're not cheap.
http://www.swazi.co.nz/product-category/mens/jackets/
>>1004348
Jackets offer better temperature regulation because they have a full length zip. This is important with Gore-Tex or similar waterproof laminates because staying cool enough in the garment to not sweat is the key to staying dry.
In saying that, I love smocks because they're more comfortable than jackets.

why hasn't he done footwear yet?
Feel free to post tobaccos (no weed allowed), pipes, collections, pics of favorite combos for going /out/, pics of what you're doing with your pipe and any questions you might have.
Want to get into smoking pipes without spending too much cash?
Get a Missouri Meerschaum Legend corncob pipe and a pouch of either Prince Albert, Carter Hall or Half and Half tobacco, available at most drugstores.
Accessories needed: pipe, tobacco, lighter or matches, pipe cleaners, and either a regular old nail or a pipe tool (combination tamper, scoop, and small pick).
All of these together should run you less than $20.
Having trouble keeping your pipe lit? Pack it looser and smoke it slower than you think you need to, lightly tamping as needed when the smoke starts thinning out.
If you're still having trouble, try packing using the Frank Method, detailed here:

Also my wife got me this pipe roll for our anniversary and it's awesome. Perfect for hiking and camping:

Do any of you use an electric lighter when /out/ing? Are they worth getting or are they just a gimmick? I carry an external battery with me when I'm outing anyways so it'd be nice to have something you can just recharge via USB without having to carry a bunch of lighter fluid and shit.
>>1010385
>......having to carry a bunch of lighter fluid and shit
I use the same Bic lighter for 3 months now, are you heating your drinks with your lighter?
I can't think of a way i could use my entire fill on one trip.
>>1010385
Smokers are disgusting creatures who leave trash everywhere. Find a cheap lighter they left somewhere with fluid in it and you're set.

smockers suck. also kill yourself without harming us. -t-h-a-n-k--y-o-u-
What is with people and autistically cutting down every growing plant in their yard? We live in a suburb of NJ and our development was built probably 1960's in and around woodland. We had a huge woods in our backyard until the 90's when they stuck a development in there and our yard considerably downsized.
It also opened up the sound of the highway, which makes it impossible to sleep with the windows open, until the leaves grow back and block out the noise.
The retarded old guy behind us cut everything in their yard down, and has taken the liberty of cutting all branches going into his yard and dumping them over the fence. A few weeks ago he upped his game and cut down whole trees (on our side of the fence) at fence level.
Is that even legal? How do I make him fuck off?
>>1009987
There are typically city ordinances about yard flora especially in middle class/rich white folk areas.
If anything people are just afraid to get fined.
I suggest you move to a real part of America.
>>1009987
>neighbor cuts down everything
>rips out lawn
>reseeds with fescue
Meanwhile, my yard has about 500 trees, shrubs, flowers, and vegetables I mow around and the lawn itself has about 200 species of wild plants.
>he is cutting your trees
Bill him, if he doesn't pay, sue him. Old people like to cut shit down, especially trees. Often times they will literally say "it was going to fall down and hurt someone" or similar wording. It is a mental disease of some sort.
>how to stop him
Bigger fence with electric, guard dogs, cameras, and no trespassing signs.

I have like 30kg of gear. How can I go lighter?
Currently in Japan by the way.
>>1009582
Well, what have you got?
In all honesty, you probably are already at a minimum amount of weight if you have to be ready for many different conditions.
Don't listen to ultralight fags, having cheap and rugged gear is easily superior in non-familiar countries because the last thing you want is to get robbed because you're carrying a years worth of someones wages on your back.

If you can drop the light sleeping bag for a wool blanket that would be good.
Just rest on top of the bulky sleeping bag.
But yeah, sounds like you're simply prepared for any situation. That's very smart. It's a realistic weight for what you're doing.
I want to get away from car camping and get into backpacking and seeing more of my area, the Sierra and the West in general. I live in NV, and there's a lot of different /out stuff around me to go see, but I want to start with hikes. The only gear I have, is really big and heavy. I'm looking at some smaller stuff on REI. Anyone have any recs or comments?
>>1009458
That Marmot bag seems like a good entry level bag. Sounds like it compresses down nocely, and 20-30 F should be nice for cold desert nights, or 3 season sleeping in the night's around Tahoe.
>>1009458
Thinking of this bag. Is 38 liters enough? 2-3 day long hikes are where I see myself starting.
>>1009458
Should I get a bivvy tent, or a real tent? How necessary is a sleeping pad? The mountains here are pretty rocky...Any recs on a stove/mess kit? I see threads about them all the time, but it never sounds like one is better than another if all you're doing is heating water and eating lentils. Am I gonna die?
