I wanna move to an /out/ state that looks like pic related (yeah it's from a video game but it's a good representation of that I want). What would y'all recommend?
>>1011004
rural towns in the PNW or in new england
Personally I'd recommend Maine. Good wilderness, good hunting/trapping laws and outdoors activities to be had
Only issue is it's kinda hard to find a good job out there
>>1011026
Noice. I don't worry about work cause my chosen field is wastewater treatment, and that's literally everywhere, so I'm pretty confident in my ability to find a job. Any thoughts on Washington?
>>1011031
Never been, but I hear good things. Only issue I know of is that whiny hippies are coming in from cali and oregon, so expect your hunting/shooting/etc laws to become threatened over time if you're into that kind of thing

I want to buy some property but don't know how to go about it
I want a couple acres with river frontage in the blue ridge mountains. It will be a simple fishing outpost and place to camp etc.
How do I go about finding available properties? Searching realtor sites for 'land' brings up a bunch of lots for sale in planned neighborhoods. Not what I'm looking for and in any case I don't think a realtor needs to be involved?
What am I missing here

I use to kinda work in the land business. Tons of spots like that. now getting someone to cut a few acres of there 50 acres I don't know how it works.
>>1009019
it probably involves money though.

Backpack thread general
Please may someone suggest a similar style bag but for a reasonable price? I want this sorta bag for college and when I go /out/. Nothing too tacticool because I don't want to look like a spurg at college
>>1007099
I have that exact bag. It's bretty gud. Are you interested in it or do you want a poorfag version? Because it's basically a nicer copy of several other bags.
>>1007104
I want it, but £100 is step for a backpack when I know there are very similar copies out there. Could you suggest somewhere to get it cheaper or a similar alternative?
>>1007113
I always thought the old German army mountain rucksacks looked very similar. There seem to be various copies and versions so you get a choice of colours and closures and stuff. Suppose you could modify it too if you fancied.
Just watched Dick carve a wooden spoon with an ax.
Think some married guy could do that?
Fuck no

Threadly reminder that Dick liked women, and would have thought MGTOWs were a bunch of whiny candy ass faggots.
Who is Dick?
How does it feel living in America's anti-/out/ belt?

I mean Wisconsin was only an hour away from Chicago, but they really hated seeing Illinois license plates if you were anywhere worth going.
Colorado wasn't a bad drive, you could leave in the morning and be in the mountains by dinner.
Then I moved to Florida. Never lived anywhere with mountains and that blows but at least the beach is right down the street.
Nebraska is basically hell. Indiana is close though.
>>987067
Good work excluding the black hills

I also want to commend you on this.
Apologies if this is off topic

wine vineyards i believe often use this method, when mountainous
>>1013105
No.
Don't go to any hippie villages ever, either. They'll try and trick you into thinking this is how they live. It isn't; everyone there is going to be a filthy scam artist
>>1013105
Is that a village? It looks like a house.
Also, no. In america we have enough land we don't need to geoengineer mountainsides. But we learn about the ancient cultures who did, like the incans and the italians.
I want to start hiking / strolling in the woods / sleeping in a tent in the forest
I have REALLY big forest 5 km away from my home. I thought I could go there for a really long walk and sleep in a tent for one night. But I'm a total newfag in2 camping. What would I need besides tent? Any activities I could do while enjoying evening and night in the forest?
We dont have bears nor wolves here, but I might meet a boar
i don't know where you live OP, but if it's even remotely cold at night, make damn sure you bring some warm clothes/sleeping bag/blankets. i'm in michigan and i still have to wear two layers of clothes and multiple blankets to sleep outside (i'm not using a tent though, you'll be a little better off)
by the way, make sure you're not setting up your tent on stuff that could puncture it
>>1012217
Western Poland. Tonight it was -3*C, but now it's +9*C
any tents recommended? can 2 person sleep in 1 person tent?
>>1012214
Why don't you lurk on this board for a while?
I was hiking along and I stepped on some upper meadow type of plants, they are all over, but these plants were hiding a mud puddle. You can see my leatherman for scale.
but I couldn't feel the bottom of the puddle and it made me think of the "what happens to the missing hikers" thread. Luckily I fell forward and was able to grab the "bank" or edge of the hole.
This is what I was walking on

I REALLY doubt the right third (or even right half) of this thoroughly researched track ever had any vehicle to ride on.
Hint: why do you think a ship or a plane is always mentioned when a trip to Kamchatka peninsula is discussed?

Hey sc/out/s, what are your thoughts on Geocaching?
I just tried it for the first time today and it was really fun.
What's the weirdest thing you've found inside a cache?
Any interesting stories/experiences/anecdotes?
>>1010158
I wish it was a thing in Europe
>>1010167
Hmmm it's not a thing where you're located?
I'm in northeastern illinois, close to Lake Michigan. When I downloaded the c:geo app on android today, I opened it and there are literally over 150 caches within a 10 mile radius of where I live. Pretty insane.
>>1010158
I was wandering around the woods in North PA and I came across a metal "Bullet-box", I was going to take it and use it for various purposes until I opened it up and saw people put like toy dinosaurs and various knick-nacks in it. I mean it looks fun for people who are interested in it, but personally i don't believe it would be fun.
So what do we do about this?
