Hi, /o/
Occasional lurker, first time poster.
What do you think? Just picked up the A4 quattro this past Sunday and really falling in love with it. Any sage advice?

Can anyone explain this for me?
I tried starting my car (its a manual) and it wouldnt start it would crank but wouldnt actually turn over or start or whatever. Tested the electric shit by putting a screwdriver in the plug wire and it shocked me so good there. Belts spinned so compression should be good.
Figured it was the fuel pump and went inside to go look at the parts and order one.
Tonight i go and try to start it randomly and it actually starts right up without me changing anything. Can someone explain this for me?
Its a 95 ford ranger 2.3l 4cyl RWD standard cab
>>17301231
Well as you said it clearly has spark and compression. If it ran than it had air, which means the problem likely resides in the fueling system. Check the fuel pump and fuel filter. Could be the pump starting to go out
>>17301231
check your main relay, given the age of the truck it should make a click when you turn the key to "run" and you should hear the fuel pump kick in to prime the system. if not, it's either the relay or pump.
>>17301256
Im sorry im a vehicle virgin what do you mean main relay like the relay for the fuel pump or?
Sorry and when i turn the key i dont hear shit but it still starts
My sister wants a crossover/suv that's brand new and requires no maintenance.
I only specialize in shitboxes. Anyone know what a good choice is? Preferably something with a V8, AWD and a decent build quality.
Budget is about 25k.
>>17301027
And by brand new, I mean new-ish. Something about 2 years old to avoid the lot premium. I'm just use to buying vehicles that are decades old.
>>17301027
>new-ish
>V8 with AWD and quality build
try Subaru. no V-ate but it's about as much as you can afford
>>17301027
lol for 25k you've got base level suv(crx,cx-5 etc)
or a mid level (hrv, cx-3 etc) my mom just got a outlander fully loaded for 23.5k check out mitsu
need halp
how to rebuild engine, blew a headgasket.
94 toyota t-100/pickup 4x4

i have very little experience doing any mechanical work, but ive got time and effort.
OR
should i just buy a rebuilt/re manufactured motor??
>>17300912i can take the head off mu 22re in 20-30
Minutes.
If you didnt cook the shit out of the head then just throw another gasket in there and see if it helps.
>>17300931

What is /o/ opinion on the 1995 toyota celica
>>17300407
Pretty cool I guess, but
>>>>>>>>>fwd
>>17300407
Had a '96, was pretty fun. Dropped a JDM 3SGE and did a Curren front end conversion with friends over a weekend, was still pretty anemic, but overall not so bad and parts were not too expensive.
Coilovers were stupid rare and hard to find back then for it, so I ended up leaving it at stock height and put PIAA foglights up front and pretended I was a rally driver on gravel backroads. IIRC only fully adjustable set I found new was 2500 dollars.
>>17300407
Can't say anything for the standard Celica, but i've driven a GT-four and it was fantastic.
Wtf is it with this bullshit? I ain't afraid to die, fuck the police. My body my choice
>>17300307
It's not your body anymore when you go flying out the windshield and slam into a little old lady on the sidewalk.
>>17300307
But anon, it costs money to clean the skidmark you left with your face over the barrier.
>>17300307
You're a faggot
why is this board so obsessed with sub $5000 piles of shit?
We begin by coveting what we see every day.
>>17300222
everybody here is poor and bitter and has convinced themselves that their moms old supra with 200k on the clock can take down a ferrari as a coping mechanism
>>17300222
Because some old cheap shitboxes are cooler and more interesting and fun than new cars.
Now why would I buy a new car when my prelude is cool as hell.

the cyclist for being a flaming faggot

Cylcist attempted to overtake a turning vehicle on the inside lane, 100% cyclists fault
>>17300120
Cyclist shouldn't be overtaking on the inside, but the car driver didn't indicate until already turning.
At this point one could argue the cyclist was unaware the car was about to turn off, and rather than overtaking was just keeping a constant speed when the car driver suddenly slowed and turned.
No signals = car driver is a cunt and at fault.
Fuck cyclists anyway
think I might pick this up. tell me it's not a horrible idea

That's a lot of mileage for a 2010 Civic. I've seen early 2000s Civics with less miles. I assume you really want the SI model?
>>17300093
>I assume you really want the SI model?
yeah. it might be worth noting that I'm a college student and don't drive too much. but I still need a car in my life and my undesirable shitbox is getting to be more trouble than it's worth

What's stopping me from buying old cars from scrapyards and flipping them as potential project cars/parts cars? Is this a good way to make a lot of money on the side? Especially if it's desirable models? What kind of things would I need for this to happen?
>>17299949
Curbstoner laws. It varies by state/province/country, but in most places you can only buy and sell so many cars per year before you have to get a dealer's license.
Junkyards won't sell you a car once it's been put in the yard for parts picking, the paperwork is already in motion for the vehicle to be ultimately destroyed. Title never gets transferred to them directly to even do so.
>>17300655
What about metal recycling yards where the car is just going to be crushed? Do they go through a similar process?
What's the curse of the dbt sticker? I love that retro look.
>>17299834
The curse is that you will be rear ended to death by an /o/tard texting in their bmw while you are waiting at a red light.
Then they will tell you its your fault they killed you.
It's an open invitation for the skid demon. Be warned.
>>17299841
Damn, has it been confirmed?
