So my girlfriend and I are going on a road trip pretty soon. My daily is a Honda S2000 and I recently bought her an Acura TSX. I noticed the battery was old and that there was some cracks in the sidewall of the tires so I told her to get a new battery and order new tires while I was at work, since I have a buddy that mounts and balances tires for $20 (for four tires). I do all of the work on my cars myself so I was planning on also bleeding the brakes and changing the transmission fluid this weekend. Long story short, my girlfriend went with her mom to a car care place and spent $1500 on new tires, an alignment, a battery, and a brake bleed. Luckily my girlfriend's parents payed for it, but I'm still upset at the whole situation. I know it was not her fault for not listening to what I told, but please reassure me that I'm not crazy. $1500 for that work just seems outrageous.

4 new tires + alignment + balance usually costs around $800. $400 for a battery and a brake bleed does sound like they got ripped off. A stingy shop might charge ~$200 for tire mount + alignment + balance, so I would check what tires she got and how much they cost online.
I paid $760 last time I got new tires, but they were MPSS which were ~$160 each

Similar situation, yeah.
Bought a 280Z because I wanted a 240Z.
Probably worst decision of my life. I didn't know anything and the dude ripped me off bad. Thousands of dollars spent fixing hundreds of problems and I rarely ever got to actually enjoy it.
When I sold it, I got less than half of what I initially even paid for the car.
I still l9ve Z cars and since having actually gotten my head on straight, I've also owned a 280ZX, a 240Z, another 280ZX, two Z31's back to back, and a Z33.
Next car will either be a Z32 just to try something new, or another Z31 or S130 280ZX.

Is it worth sending oil sample to lab? I had a compression/Leakdown test done on my engine with great results. Anything else I can do to make sure my engine is healthy?

Or an older engine designed for lead or oils with more zinc. Have an engine with a fuel pump on the block? Testing can tell if any fuel is leakin i to the oil. I got the kit but have not sent it in yet.

It's good to have a history to check for changes in the engine. There's several testing labs of which Blackstone is one of them. Go to their website to get the sample container. Put the oil into their sample container. They already verified that container is legally mailable when properly packaged.
