Can any car expert tell me if this is O.K.??
I drive my car to Nan Thien Temple, but does it have too much tire damage?
Am not sure if this will affect handling, can any driving expert say if it is good or not?
>>17385176
That poor car.
if you don't take your car to the track at least once every 3 months, you are not allowed to talk about:
A: vehicle dynamics
B: vehicle setup
C: driver involvement
D: anything to do with automotive performance
normies please leave my board.
>t. Normie who never brings his car to a trach and/or doesn't have one
I never talk about any of these.
>>17384866
Likewise. I don't come to /o/ to talk shit about things I don't know like 95% of the posters here.
I am also not allowed on the local track unless I have at least a homologated 4 point cage (miata).
Having said that, just because I've never been on the track, that doesn't mean I know nothing about A,B,C,D as all of those bar C are mathematical and can be armchair mechanic'd.
What's the point of having VTEC or any variant with a turbo?
I know that they both do different things and opperate differently and can be done at the same time.
But VTEC/VVT and so on are all about being able to feed more air into the cyl at higher RPM. But the turbo does exactly that with high pressure in the manifold. So what's the point of having both? Is there something i am missing?
There are two camshafts, all variable timing does is switch to the bigger cam.
There isn't one. If you have a turbo there is no need for any kind of VTEC at all.
>>17384523
need low-end torque/hp, have smaller cams.
need high end hp, get bigger cams.
can have both using vtec.
need more hp from a small engine, put a turbo on it.
these things are totally irrelevant of each other and their purpose is to maximize efficiency from the engine. without vtec you either lose low end power, or high end power depending which cam you're stuck with.
with the turbo you get more hp at higher RPM.
Hence why LS engines are shit, and anything with pushrods should not be used in anything that isn't focused around towing things.
>paying tribute to the LeMans victories by participating in an irrelevant class
THIS should have been the new Ford GT
>>17384473
Should've been a twin turbo V8 too.
>>17384493
But they wouldn't be going slower. What he posted was a P2. Cadillac DPis and LMP2s in general use V8s.
>>17384535
also GT1>GTLM
admit it /o/, if you never watched initial D, you'd be paying to get your oil changed still.
>>17384385
Pretty sure my life would be a lot better had I not watched it.
In fact, I actively pretend I've never seen it in hopes that my mind forgets about it completely.
>>17384401
This,
>>17384385
You're right
When I turned 14, I watched Initial D. Cars were romanticized for me, which really got me interested. My dad also enabled me to become a boyracer by allowing me to get an SW20 Turbo for my first car.
Why isn't the 3.5 Ecoboost an inline 6? Wouldn't that make more sense as a 'truck engine'. More torque down low and arguably a better sound. Ford would've also gotten a LOT less shit and possibly more sales because 'Cummins are inline 6, so obviously the 3.5 I6 must be good too'. Space wouldn't really be an issue either because it's a truck.
Can any mechanics/engineers explain why they didn't go I-6 for the ecoboost?
>>17384157
Because any inline 6 under 5.9 liters is useless.
The 3.5 EcoBoost is in more than just the F150. Taurus & explorer both share the same 3.5 as the F150 but its mounted transversely. It's impractical to design a transverse I6 (inb4 Volvo). Basically it all comes down to packaging.
>>17384157
And thus, Ford went about spending millions redesigning their 3.5 Ecoboost into an inline 6 for only the F150 because someone on /o/ said it would have more street cred.
How many beers is "the line"?
3x beers @ 3.5 ABV.
1x beer @ 9 ABV.
>I don't drink often.
If I can walk in a straight line, I can drive in a straight line.

Why do automakers keep wasting money marketing to demographics that can't afford their cars?
>>17383449
because nothing's more fun than convincing young'uns to ruin their financial stability with a car loan that they'll inevitably default on.
>>17383449
because like many things, 80% of automobile sales are from perception and reputation, not anything objective
>>17383449
market the car to young people, old people buy it to feel young.
According to plebbit, Honda Canada is not allowing dealers to mark-up Type R's. 40k CAD (30k USD) for one of these sounds pretty good when the RS is being sold for 50k, and the build quality/interior/reliability will almost surely be better. Should I get one?
>>17383361
No, just buy a lightly used RS or a new one without markup.
>>17383369
I dunno anon. The interior of my Fiesta ST is pretty shit, and the RS looks very similar. This looks a lot nicer.
>>17383361
Yes if you want everyone on /o/ to laugh at you FWD car.

Is driving manual really that hard in traffic? I daily a manual in Toronto and even in traffic jams it's not really THAT bad. And I'm not even a good driver.
>>17383213
For Americans, it is. The rest of the world knows how to drive manual because they have an IQ higher than that of a glazed donut.
I've driven manual pretty much as long as I have been driving, so I've never gotten comfortable enough in an automatic to really appreciate the ease in stop-and-go traffic. Probably wouldn't hurt now that I'm living in northern Delaware, but in while I was growing up in the burbs of PA and living in Maine for a while it was extremely pleasant. I don't think I can ever give it up now though with how long I've been driving manuals. Yeah, I start to notice it more where I live now, but it's not so much of a hindrance that I'd ever go out of my way to get an automatic.
IMO people who shit on manuals for the stop-and-go argument are just being idiots, nitpicking, and/or lazy
>>17383213
It's too hard for people that don't want to try and/or put the effort in.

Why is buying from Craigslist such a fucking meme?
>try looking for Elantra on Craigslist
>text this greedy kike asking him for the vin so I can see the history
>"car is great DONT need vin", wants me to look like the idiot for asking for it.
>wtf? Why is craigslist so fucking scummy? Literally everyone who sells a car there does so because there's something wrong with it reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Report the ad for possible scam. It'll get taken down.
Can we see how things escalated to that? Just curious
I've never had a problem.
Bought a 74 beetle and a 91 Miata off craigslist no problem. Both were great and I got 'em at very reasonable prices.
