I don't know what happened here, but is it dangerous to drive on this tire? It's brand new.
doesnt look too bad
i wouldnt worry about it
Looks like a typical deeper scratch from a sharp rock, old piece of steel sticking out of the ground or something else with hard, relatively sharp edge being hit with the tire
as long as it's holding air and the fabric doesn't show through, don't worry.
My Friend is looking to buy his first car, Surprising he wants a manual. Hes not car savvy, and ive been giving him ideas on what to look at, such as prelude gen 5, $2k civic meme, Acura EL meme, Corollas, and a few Mazdas. I know old corollas are easy to learn stick on, What i learned stick on, what about the other cars? Are they a good option?
Hes a few months away from buying a car, and his budget is probs $3k- $5k, $7k incuding repairs and insurance. I gave him my rule of thumb on keeping a shit box on the road, prepare to spend $2k on repairs if your not going to do it yourself.
What does /o/ think? Am i giving good suggestions?

Honestly I'd rather see a noisy ricebox than any of the new vehicles that are coming out. At least riced out cars have some personality.
Picked this up last week for $250. Didn't run and the body was an awful faded pink. One charged battery, half a can of carb cleaner, and a couple of tools later, she runs and rides. Got it mainly because biking sucks for distances over 5 miles and in FL you don't need to insure motorcycles under 50cc.
I was thinking of repainting it but I'm not sure what color. I imagined a Stars and Stripes with the front cowl being blue with white stars and the rear having red and white stripes.
What do you guys think?
Some of the body panels and the headlight.
Most of the body hardware and the trunk that came with it.

good job.

Dont be a flag fag and no flames either. Paint it one color and fuck off.
Visors on trucks
Love em or hate em?

whatever you like, man
I like them, especially on square-bodied american trucks/SUVs
Probably gonna get one like this on my 'lux

How quickly should a coolant system become pressurized?
The engine over heated due to a heater matrix hose failure. But it was repaired and run for a few months before being taken off the road over the winter.
I've just run it up after changing out the coolant, and after maybe 10 minutes of idling and some light load driving (the engine was not up to operating temperature) I opened the rad cap to check the level and there was a lot more pressure in the system than I was expecting.
I'm suspicious about my head gasket having failed because of the previous over heating incident.

What engine?
>>17371236
NA miata 1.8
>>17371227
OP, easiest way to check is to stop your engine from firing (e.g. unplugging the ignition coil, pulling the fuel injector fuse, or bridging the starter motor relay) and crank it with the radiator cap off.
Make sure you've got the coolant topped up to the very top of the radiator, then crank the engine.
If your head gasket has failed, the engine will force air into the cooling system and make the coolant come out of the top of the radiator at a pretty steady rate. Really bad cases will shoot coolant out like a geyser, but if it's that bad you should already know because your engine will be running like shit.
What did they mean by this

They did the same thing with the NewSX.

The difference between a bicycle and either car is a lot larger.

Toyota and Honda cvts are great but Nissan has been using them for 25 years and can't make one last 100k
I want to sell my Lancer so I can get a winter 4X4 and a summer car (probably 2000 camaro)
So far I've found the 200 Jeep Cherokee to be the sexiest. Anybody have other suggestions? I can't find one of these under 250,000k

Make sure you get the one with V8.
Post your car interiors and what car it is.
Renault Megane 1.5 Dci, i love this thing.
Would I be nuts to buy a 220k km 9-3?
I've always wanted one of these, but all the ones I see are high mileage (at least 180k). Should I take that as a good sign of now reliable they are?
I assume parts are all cheap ad easy to find GM stuff?

>I assume parts are all cheap ad easy to find GM stuff?
No.
>>17370864
Isn't it just an Opel underneath?
Yeah you're nuts. Saabs have got to have one of the most shittiest reliability compared next to Chrysler and Fiat. Not only are parts hard to find and ridiculously expensive, they're Range Rover levels of difficulty to work on.

What is /o/'s opinion on a great less expensive car for traveling? I was thinking of getting a 04-08 Impala (not an ss) as they are typically used for fleet cars, I would get a small SUV as gas is not a problem but I would like to continue using the car as a DD after the trip, and not be stuck with a gas burner, my main concern is the car being reliable during the trip and not giving me problems with basic oil checks, I have also looked at 08-10 nissan altimas and 10-11 volkswagen golfs, unsure of if either will be sufficient enough, the car I will buy of course will have less than 50k miles on it to insure it hasn't been worn out,
thanks for helping a newbie out with tips!

My most powerful RWD car made 115HP (30 years ago) and my most powerful car ever only makes twice that. I need to git gud before I buy a V8 (which I want 4 years from now).
Looking at buying a new Subaru Crosstrek... Dealership has a lifetime powertrain warranty. Sounds good, right... Except for the underlined exclusion! Warranty doesn't cover repairs to address sludging, oil consumption, compression problems, or detonation. Tell me... what other types of common failures of your engine are there.
It just means they won't rebuild a worn but otherwise perfectly functional engine for free. As in its there for things like thrown rods, head gaskets (subaru lol), block cracking, serious crank wear or failure, etc. Any sort of catastrophic mechanical failure not due to abuse or neglect.
>>17369901
This is mainly to address things that come from (what they feel) is blatant abuse and mistreatment of the vehicle.
Like, (they feel) sludging is common among vehicles that do not have their oil changed. (They feel) Oil consumption and compression problems is mainly from hammering on your car while it's cold, Detonation from aftermarket tunes and all that jazz.
Usually, a lifetime warranty will cover something that is really out of the blue. Like if a part inside in valvetrain for example has a catastrophic failure. I'm pretty sure most companies have warranties similar to this. Otherwise, people would get away with raping their program for all it is worth.
