I'm planning on buying a 2018 STi RA, would paying MSRP be acceptable? since they are only making 500 and they will be sold long before they ever hit the boat.

What makes you want one over an RS or Type R? I felt like those had a lot more effort put into thenm. Seems like you could get the same product with a regular STI and a bit of weight reduction surgery. The +5HP over the regular is so little of an upgrade it could attributed to dyno inconsistency.

it has upgraded pistons, potentially forged.

That was the biggest weakness of a EJ

I hate to make a thread about such a retarded subject but I'm doing it so deal with it.

Is mineral oil okay to treat my tires after washing? I have a pile of it to treat my cutting boards which is /ck/ shit but whatever. I also have olive and sesame oils. I just didn't feel like paying for store bought tire cleaner.

Thanks if you respond.

All I really know is that the hydraulic fluid in the aircraft that I work on, which is a mineral-based oil, swells the tires up like a mother if left to sit on them too long. Dunno if it's the mineral-based aspect or if 5606 has something special about it, but I'd be hesitant.

What year, and is it Canadian built? (VIN starts with 2) There was a recall not too long ago on Canadian built 2006-2011 civics for failing clearcoat.

2007 but not Canadian. only recall I got was the passenger side deathbag

Well that's shitty. Go get another quote somewhere else before you do anything. If you do some of the prep work (sanding, masking, removing trim, etc) they might knock the price down a fair amount.

I want to create a full sound system set up in my car
(currently has two tiny speakers I'll be getting rid of and a cassette deck)

What do I need for a full system?
I'm willing to spend a decent amount on getting a great setup but I'm not sure on the specifics

you could make a transferable stereo to work with most any car
6 inch component speakers
tiny under seat sub woofer

Sony CPA-9C
line level splitter
speaker level to line level adapter

or a low tec second hand head unit .eg sony CDX GT200

What are you looking for OP? Just a nice flat response for everything?
Also what do you consider a decent amount, car audio setups can range from $35-3500

They don't.

>accident happened on the beginning of this month here in Brazil
>trucker blamed a big company's van for causing the accident
>company is named Vigor, subsidiary of J&F, one of the largest food companies in the world
>they officially denied any blame, saying the crashed truck merely skidded on his own, without the company's van having any blame on it
>a camera on the crashed truck proved the company's van deliberately used the lane reserved for emergencies to 'sew' the traffic, but ended up hitting the truck after entering the left lane at a high speed
>still with the footage showing clearly the van driver was going faster than he should, they just give a lame note saying the van's tire blew up and that caused loss of control

https://youtu.be/dtbEovrdbiw?t=87

I bet they consent to it, OP.

Use Fluid Film

It smells like rancid shit for a week, but the gel-ish substance stays on a lot harder and protects much better
>>
>>17375967
Chain oil isn't that great at staying on. Its more there for lubrication and keeping shit off the chain.

Most of the mainstream brands you have to reapply if you've run through rain, or after every 500 miles or so.

Hey /o/

Any recommendations for a first car? Something good for a daily driver, to go to work and school. Both manual or Auto would be fine though I'd lean towards a manual.

A family friend recommended me a Toyota Camry between 2000 to 2005 as those on Craigslist fit my budget of about 3.5k
any thoughts?

If you get a V6 camry. The 1MZ-FE engine used in them has a couple problems.

>Valve cover gaskets will probably need replaced
>Notorious for oil consumption and sludging due to poor oil port design
>It is a complete and total cunt to change the spark plugs
>Even worse to change the valve cover gaskets (Took me 2 straight days to do)
>IAC valves are really iffy and like to stick after a while, but easy to rebuild
>Valve seals probably wont last past 150K

On the flipside:
>Engine bay is somewhat roomy and easy to do basic stuff on
>Decent power, torque, and milage all around for a DD
>The automatic tranny is unkillable if fluids are changed every 30K
>Engine itself is quite reliable, but eats oil like crummy eats shit after spinning out at 5mph
>Cooling system except for the heater core is piss easy to fix
>Electronics are rock solid

If you go to buy one OP and see some sludge under the oil cap RUN. I don't mean blown head gasket milkshake, more like a darker brown molasses.

If you see some caked on oil residue on the outside of the engine stray away unless its under a grand. Have fun replacing those gaskets.

dont get a v6

get a 4cyl japanese car

corolla, camry, accord etc

learn to change your own oil and brakepads and stuff on it

take everything you learned from that car and apply it to the next car you buy. keep buying japanese cars until you know what you're doing and then the only real limitations will be your budget

DOHC
What's the best way to make power?
Bigger intake
Induction
Bigger TB
Decat
Tuneable ECU
Stage 1 cams and springs and cam gears

So, what next? What am I missing. I am keeping it n/a.

File pump and reg will do what I need and more so, so that's out, also injectors.
