Feel like it's been co-opted by riders of hogs with cupholders and handlebar tassels and doesn't have the unique or rebellious look it once had. Even at the time when it worked, it only worked when 100% of the rest of the car was show-ready or it would look like expensive rice on a turd

Then there's the association with F&F, which I really think was a bad influence on imports and car culture in general for the better part of a decade

Never really liked them at all, desu.
Either they were on cars with no performance mods other than (sometimes) chrome wheels that weighed a ton per corner or they were on 'show' cars that had ridiculous cosmetic mods that served the opposite of a performance upgrade.

Electric is great, lots of new options for packaging opens up all sorts of chassis design possibilities, insane power delivery characteristics, and you can do amazing things with the traction control. Only the surface has been scratched for electric performance. Hybrids I don't see much of a future in, there's a few cool tricks you can do like the P1/LaF/918 do but at the end of the day it's too much added complexity.

I own a 2011 Malibu and its comfy. Had a water pump g out at 75k which kind of pissed me off but other than that its been good. GM gets a lot of shit but they really arent that bad.

As long as it isnt blatant negligence or abuse they will fix it. Sister had a Sonic, she has so many recalls on it she decided to just trade it in. My car had recalls, it has one left for a seat belt that they dont seem to want to fix. They "order" the parts but the part never comes in.

Sonic/Malibu arent bad just make sure the recall bullshit has been taken care of.
