>buying a hipster electric car vs buying a machine with decades of rich history

Sup /o/, I'm buying a car soon and am looking for some advice. I'm not too much of a car guy, but am aware of what to look for on test drives and am not a complete idiot, so here are my options:

>06 Pathfinder, 137k miles, $7500 from a toyota dealership that I've heard good things about regarding service, but I'm still skeptical of dealerships in general.

>05 Outback, 145k miles, $5000 from my well-trusted mechanic. He's replacing the head gaskets right now and it'll be ready in a day or two.

I'll be taking out a loan to finance this purchase, and am being quoted at around 4% from the credit unions I've been shopping around at (credit is good but not great).

What I really want is an early 2000s tacoma extended cab, but it's been hard to find one in good condition (WI winters with their notorious frame rust issues) for my budget (orginally was 5k). My mechanic is on the lookout but isn't feeling too optimistic about finding one cheap enough for me. What do?

You can't afford 5k cash? Seriously? Surely you have 2500 to get a civic?

I'm also not looking for a sedan. Really I just want to know more about the pathfinder so that I don't get jipped at the test drive tonight

Can modified cars can be valued higher when reselling than a stock example?

I've always thought the answer was an obvious FUCK NO but helping my buddy search for a used STi has been both harrowing (so many undisclosed salvage titles, so many) and eye opening (sellers openly charging bluebook + cost of mods).

If you think the answer is no (like I still do), what do you think the exceptions are? For instance; a fully built track or drag car with proven stratospheric performance (8 sec quarter or multiple circuit race wins in notable racing series) will be worth more than a stock example to a racer looking to save time. But that's an extreme example.

Vettes seem to have price unaffected by standard H/C/E/I as no one seems concerned that these shorten the engines lifespan. In general though whenever I see performance mods I assume the car has been driven aggressively.

Your thoughts?
11 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Yes, but only with quality parts and setup, minimal visual changes (nobody gives a shit about your fucking roof rack and bumper) and always far less than the total cost of car and mods unless you're actually a prominent tuner.
>>
That push bar is attached to the plastic bumper. I think your car would actually get more fucked up because of it.
>>
So this long ass post was just a drawn out way of saying "fuck no they don't except when they do"?

No wonder you're looking for a used vaperator. You're stupid as fuck.

I want to get aftermarket wheels

Is it basically go for those Japanese brands like enkei bbs, Volk etc or don't bother at all?

Are there any more affordable options? What's there to look for and what are the options more available for me in Australia?

enkei are pretty affordable out of the big name brands, especially for the performance they offer. otherwise look for used or lesser brands. I got gram lights for like $750 with 90% tread tires off some guy a while back. It mostly depends on what your goals are.

Yeah, came out on a sunday morning and someone emptied out my entire car, glove box (papers, manuals), took my cupholders with change, tire inflator and repair kit, and my fucking stereo remote.

Bought a security cam same week (apartment) and next weekend at probably the same time a girl in a white honda shows up and starts trying every door in the apartment lot. I was paranoid enough to be woken up and ran her off, didn't call police because was hungover and couldn't see because didn't have my contacts in.

The hype is real.

Just took this for my first fast run on some good back roads. It might not be the best or the fastest car or the second coming of Jesus, but I don't think there's many other modern cars that would be as fun on some nice twisties.

How in the living fuck can I remove this stripped screw from my brake rotor? Working on my 2010 civic, and the screw was already kinda stripped and this is the first time I'm removing it. I think it being really seized in there, along with me whacking it with my impact screwdriver, caused it to strip and now I have no idea how to remove it. Any tips?

They never got our title, have that in the back along with its brand new registration. All 4 family members on house our at got alert, we got good feeling who it is to. Its this black guy, and white crack whore looking chick thats on a bike. She seems to scout things out for the black guy who comes in and takes it. We caught her getting off her bike to go on our neighbors property and trying stealing his old work boots which he left on his porch.

Some more work we did, probably the last for a bit, since this widow moved in, and I am little bitch when it comes to any spiders, but of course the queen of evil herself moves in stop all work till we thoroughly gas my falcon with some raid.
