Because insurance is mandatory in your country so they can charge whatever they want. Logic doesn't need to matter
Kept seeing HRV's on /o/ and all the hate they got. Obviously most of the hate was from people who probably haven't driven one and don't like crossovers...so I decided to get my own opinion.
>Got into Honda dealer
>Small line of people waiting to check it out.
>Decided to look around at the new line
>Pretty cool
>Finally came my turn
>Cozy little thing
>"hatch like" size
>Bit of a light
>Drivers area is unlike a normal shitbox commuter but nothing amazing. Its "spirited" and nice to look at.
>center console is elevated and sleek like a sports car...merely aesthetic as this is in fact a subcompact.
>Driver position is slightly elevated like most subcompact crossovers
>Decide to test drive
>Definite small presence on road
>Classic civic like feel
>Its peppy but not fast
>CVT is totally tolerable and probably the best I have driven to date.
>Passenger room is good for a subcompact ALTHOUGH the read headrests are slightly cumbersome and restrict vision to the rear.
>Plenty of cargo space
I honestly don't get why /o/ throws so much hate at this thing. Throw away the word crossover and just call this thing a lifted subcompact hatch. Basically a jacked up fit. Its likable and brings back the energy and spirit of early 2000s civics due to its size. Its not fast but its a peppy little commute. I'm actually surprised people on here don't like it because they would . Just my two cents. It also comes in 2wd with a manual transmission...I also tested that one out. Same experience about.
>>17447075
Shut up mom.
>basically just a jacked up Fit
Then why not just buy a Fit?

REAR END STARTED MAKING NOISE
PULLED THE FILL PLUG AND FOUND THIS
AH GOD DAMNIT
If I drain the gear oil, clean it out real good, and put new in, think I'll be Ok? Level was low, there's a leak somewhere other than the pumpkin but I'll have to fix that later. Or am I shopping for a 8.8?
>>17446806
eliminating metal debris from the picture might prolong its life a little bit.
but the thing you need to consider is where that metal came from and how it got into the form of shreds instead of, say, bearings.
if bearings are trashed and being turned into that, it's going to lock up sooner or later.
>>17446825
I know, I know. God damnit. I thought it was a normal T5 whine but then I noticed it at highway speeds. It's been howling for a few days, first chance I've had to look at it. Bearings axle-side seemed fine, but I noticed some fluid being flung onto the chassis from the pinion seal, my guess is switching to synthetic gear oil caused it to leak. The level is low, can't remember if I mentioned that, maybe too low now and it got the bearings. Fuck.
>>17446806
I changed my 25 year old 8.8 a few weeks ago for what was probably the first fluid change and the plug was covered in metal debris. Never had an issue.
Teach me about the Honda CR-Z.
Why did it fail?
>>17446693
a 2 seat hybrid with shitty milage. The Mugen K20 swap actually got better milage while perfroming far better.
>>17446693
They tried to make it fast and fuel efficient and in the end accomplished neither.
>>17446716
I get upper 30's to 40 in town. Better than I ever got with either VW TDI I had.
And the Honda was cheaper to buy... and 87 is cheaper than diesel.
It failed because people wanted a CRX. It failed because honda put in a shitty cam that cost it HP *and* mpg. It failed. But I'm not giving mine up.
Unless it gets recalled AGAIN, for the passenger airbags. Then fuck this thing and fuck honda forever.
Hey /o/.
Can I have opinions of these cars?

Why do roasties always get their panties in a twist over bad parking?
It seems like they'll jump at any opportunity to prove that they're not horrible drivers themselves.
It always blows my mind how some people struggle to park into these fucking spaces, especially with a suv
>>17446457
That's not bad parking that's asshole parking dumbass
>>17446485
The only time I give somebody slack for being over the line, is when they're in a fuckhuge truck or SUV, AND it is one of those godawful double solid line parking spots that only compacts can park perfectly parallel in.
/o/, help a brother out with your amazing knowledge.
>motor starts to run a little hot at lower RPMs
>occasional hesitation and slight misfires on acceleration at lower RPMs
>hooked up scanner, temps are getting higher in closed loop
>Hit open loop and temps go down quickly
I suspect I'm running a tad lean, problem is, I changed my fuel filter, changed air filter, ran some injector cleaner through it with extra concentration, and it's still running warmer than I'd like (aluminum heads, don't wanna fuck around with temperatures).
Thoughts on what it could be? Bad O2 sensors? Bad MAF? Bad cats? Bad injectors? I verified it isn't coolant-related.
>Pic slightly related, bad plugs after running lean, but not mine
Check temp sensor. Make sure that the thermostat is working properly. Next check water pump. Work your way from the easiest fix to the hardest fix.
>>17446404
Are your plugs gapped correctly?
If it seems to just happen in closed loop, I'd suspect the O2 sensor. Is it a custom tune? If so, check the target lambda values of you can.
Just bought a 2014 Honda Civic. 39k miles, $14.2k. What should I know and did I just fuck up?
Yes. You could have gotten an Accord from the same year for that much

BMW, Audi and Mercedes are premium segment cars.
You get amazing performance/looks/interior but shit ain't cheap obviously.
A car is not supposed to be cheap.
BMW, Audi and Mercedes are the top brands in the game for the money they cost.
It isn't a meme those are simply amazing cars and this is nothing to argue about
>>17444393
How much do you think you should be earning to truely be able to afford a German car and its maintenance costs?
Seems like most people who get them are typical middle class yuppie types. White collar ones. Not ones who got into a trade
