What's my best choice for a cheap (<$5000) truck that will be reliable and not a complete money pit? ~15 year old Tacoma?

I just need it for hauling shit that won't fit in a sedan/crossover.

>>
Why not rent a uhaul for like 20 bucks a day when you need to haul shit and rep the mpgs with your sedan/crossover?
>>
f250 with the boxy 80s style body. maximum greatness
>>
older F150s with the 300 I6 are bulletproof. Tacomas are good but some of the early motors had headgasket problems. careful about those.

Nissan pickups of the same generation were okay.

Chevy 1500s of the early 2000s have LS motors and can sometimes be found for nice and cheap. These are a great option.

really just depends. A lot of this stuff is subjective.

No. Get FiST instead.

If you aren't getting one of the quicker Fiesta models (ST, Zetec S etc) then you'll probably get better driving out of the Mazda. That said, even the boggo Fiesta isn't bad to drive even if they are slow

The facelifted Fit Hybrid or the Suzuki Swift mild hybrid are superior, in terms of upmarket feeling, driving dynamics and ride comfort

Good evening, /o/.

Tell me something about yourself.

Tell me of your first love. The first car you adored, and the reasons why. You must have owned the car in some way (parent's car counts).

Pic related, it's mein first love, but not car in pic. First car I ever bought with my own money, paid $1300 cash with about 160K miles. Mad comfy leather interior, good sound, and reliable as fuck 3.8 V6.

Make haste, faggots

My first baby. Bought her last November for 2500 of my hard earned cash. Talked the guy down from 3k. 2009 Interceptor with plastic back seats, Kevlar trunk pack, working spotlight, and safe stop enabled. Has the siren speaker and wigwag module but no PA or wigwag control boxes in the car but I'd like to get some at some point to use the airhorn. 52000 miles and runs like a champ. Had to change the alternator and blower motor a couple months later but that was the first time I did any mechanical work on a car myself and I was damn proud. My rush hour commutes are stress free because omg a cop. MPG is meh but I knew that going in. Looking to install a remote start and alarm on her soon as well as give her a body paint job to a dark gunmetal grey. Arizona summers really ruin cars.

My first car was a 5th gen Monte Carlo, but in general one of my first loves was the second gen Chevy Lumina. My Monte was just a Lumina coupe, and having seen how much I liked mine and how reliable it was, several of my other friends got Luminas as well.

Just how low do my standards have to get if I'm trying to buy a car off of Craigslist for $5000?

For the last three months I've been browsing CR every night trying to find a car I like that's worth buying, and I have not found a single competent listing. I swear to god, if i search for just a clean title alone the listings get cut in half, and if I add manual with no damage and less than 150K miles everything evaporates. My candidates are
>Miata
>Civic Si
>RSX
>G35
>350Z
>GTI
>Mustang GT
>MR2 Spyder (I've pretty much given up on seeing this ever)
I thought this would be a pretty big net to throw, but I guess not. I guess if I want a Mini Cooper S or a fucking PT Cruiser GT there's plenty in my area. I'm thinking of adding F-bodies or Cobalt SS to my list, but I'm really not too big on 2000s GM. Should I just accept the fact that I'm going to get some damaged piece if I'm in the market for $5000? I'm honestly considering checking out the stealerships at this point. Even though it'll be more expensive at least there'll be less likelyhood of a goddamn rebuilt title.

>>
>>17862562
Cheap cars from stealerships are often shady as fuck. it may not have a rebuilt title, but could have just been fixed by Chachi in his garage cuz he had no insurance.

You should not be aiming to get a sporty car on the cheap. If it is that cheap, there will be a very good reason for it.

The miata is the exception to the above though. You should be able to find one owned by an old guy no problem....
>>
>>17862562
As nice as the market is these days, $5k is low if you're looking for something that's not a total beater.

The M2 isn't much more in burgerland. My concern is that the M2 is more stiffly sprung and NY roads are rape on cars and my back already.

Spoiler: There's jack shit you can order from the factory that's going to be A) worth your money or B) better than aftermarket or C) still in production.

Just bum o-rings or oil or whatever. I know several Honda driving Honda techs, and the only good stuff is Hondabond and small OEM parts that have long since gone missing on their cars.

Get mass amounts of M77 assembly paste

More power and luxury than a ranger, smaller than a dakota...same specs as a tacoma or frontier that are 5x the cost

Is there some fatal flaw that I'm missing other than them being balls ugly?

Can't get the top off road trim with a manual last I checked, the new ones are stupid expensive, low aftermarket support unlike the Tacoma and it's a spring under rear axle

I'm speaking specifically about the older versions that would compete with the cars listed above.

I think you can get anything but the v8 with a stick including the z71...even then its the smallest thing you can buy with a v8.

That's the mentality I take when I start a new job.
It's different for driving though, each mistake I make hurts my confidence because I know every mistake I make could cost me money
>>
Did you actually hurt anyone or thing OP? No?

The drive some more and don't sweat it, you'll learn.
