Post your driving records and ticket/suspension stories.
I was going through some old documents on my PC and found this from years ago. Blocked out personal information, marked tickets/violations in blue and suspensions in red. For the record I was 17 in 2002 when this all started. Lost my license for a combined total of about 6 out of my first 8/9 years of driving.
>>17536485
Guess the fines they made off you are worth more than other's lives
>>17536518
What do you mean, worth more to who? Obviously not to the state since they suspended my license. If they only cared about the fines then they would have wanted me to stay on the road.
And I've never killed anyone.. that I know of.
I got 4 tickets last year. 3 for going 20-30 over and one for turning right on red. If I get one more before November I get fucked in the ass with a suspension
Positives
>great pull in gears 2-3-4 between 3000-6000 RPM
>steering is super fast and precise, 2.5 turns lock-to-lock means never leaving 9 and 3 outside a parking lot
>6MT box feels pretty much flawless with a simple bushing mod
>easy to drive fast, handles neutrally on power, will easily oversteer (torque vectoring) off power with ESC off
>31 MPG (37 for Euros) despite being on boost pretty much constantly
>SYNC 3 is the best infotainment system I've ever used (simple and fast)
>generally has the personality of a hyperactive puppy that just want to GO GO GO
Cons
>the visibility is pretty mediocre, especially over the shoulder
>lots of torque + FWD + open diff + short 1st gear means this thing can't launch for shit (I can't get under 6 seconds going 0-60mph)
>the plastic used on the gauge cluster and infotainment may be the worlds cheapest plastic
>it looks like an engorged tick from the size and catfish from the front
>the 4x108 is a weird bolt pattern, 205/40/17 is weird tire size, and the wheel wells don't even have room for things like 225 without rubbing
Facts
>the stock Potenza tires are an aged tire design originally made for the Ferrari Enzo
>nobody seems to think the stripes/red calipers/recaros/interior lighting is stock, but it is
>it has a full size spare unlike 95% of modern cars which use donuts or runflats

my dad had sync 3 in his old car and it was garbage, is it actually good now?
>>17536389
>Sounds like a Grand Prix V12 when you crack open the go pedal
>93 model year = most options and stiffest suspension
>parts are cheap
>fuel mileage is decent
>don't have to downshift to pass on the freeway because DOHC V6 + 4.39 final and .79:1 5th = 3500rpm @ 70mph
>Mazda KL V6 has decent aftermarket and will do 140mph if you hold it down long enough
>pop up's are /o/ approved
Cons
>FWD
>Transmission is made of glass
>Ummm I'm kind of stretching here
Facts
>The Mazda KL is actually a Porsche design, Porsche designed it for F1 in the Turbo V6 days of the 1980's and a change in regulation shelved the design, Mazda bought it and modified it for mass production
>The KL has a shorter stroke than an Integra Type-R of the same period and with a built valvetrain and supporting NA mods the engine will easily do 12,000 rpm
>The Probe GT was Motor Trend's 1993 Car of the Year
that is borden right?
can /o/ help me identify this car?

BMW M30, says it right on the bumper m8
no problem, that's a fiero with modified body panels.
Is that a Roush?

Why do mechanics always overfill when it comes to fluids?
I always overfill your mother with my fluids.
>>17535680
Go to a different one that's less shit then, I always make sure it's right on the line.
>>17535713
Good guy mechanic. Too bad all the mechanics in my area (SoCal) are minorities.
I had a manual civic and recently changed for a manual 2011 Camaro SS. I will admit, I am not very good driving stick but I am interested in knowing how things work in order to learn. When I am crusing in the neighborhood in 1st or even sometimes while shifting to lower gears, the car abruptly wobbles/rocks back and forth, like if it was smashing. Is it because I let off the clutch too early and it smashes against the flywheel?
Your car has the gay
Just like you
>>17535615
You have shit throttle control.
Too sudden or not enough gas and you're bogging the engine
Why does everyone shit on cadillac?
It's definitely a different company now and their cars are actually good now.
The v series is great, def on par with bmw and mercedes.
What does /o/ think? What would you like to see from them?
>>17535470
>European luxury sports car knock-offs
>All our car names are just letters and numbers, no fancy names
>fwd focus
>GM quality
>cd players and cabin filters are an extra fee
Cadillac earned its fame by making big fancy landyachts that were the pinnacle of comfort and oozed classiness and through all of its golden age they were super innovative and engineered many features that lead the industry.
Now they play catch up with mercedes and audi "cuz we want the hip youngers!"
Cadillac can eat a dick until they come to there senses and make a nice landyaght again.

Thoughts on the 280z/S30 line?
My friend just bought one and as much as I've always loved the look of them it turns out the electrical gremlins, vacuum lines and other assorted bullshit was no meme. It's a piece of shit but I want to help him fix it up.
Any owners have any advice/resources that they'd be able to share? Stories and greentexts welcome too.

I know a guy who's been coming to cars and coffee since forever, and also goes to a luxury car show with his 280z. All he's kept is the body, he's practically gutted the thing out and remade it. He's tried to maintain the inside as best looking as possible, but he switched out the engine with a 300zx twin turbo. Your buddy should've expected all these problems from a 30+ year old car. To be perfectly honest with you, unless you're planning on becoming like one of the mid night club members and spend at least 10k+ on the car, then you're SOL.
Best of luck.
My 135i. One of the best cars I've ever owned.

Hi, I work in sales for a high volume Hyundai dealership. If you have any questions about the car business or about products, I have an evening to help.

Why is the skidplate on the bottom of the Genesis sedan such a gigantic pain in the ass to remove for a simple oil change
>>17535336
Can I have a mustache ride?
>>17535344
Because engineers design a vehicle for its intended purpose, not for ease of repair. Which, I agree, is bullshit; not only does it dissuade enthusiasts from working on their own vehicles, but it costs Service departments more when those vehicles have to be serviced.

I'm stumped. My 1994 Jeep Wrangler Model S is overheating. I changed the radiator, thermostat, flushed the system and now I'm about to change out the water pump to see if that helps any. What else can I do to get the cooling system working?
Could be a blown headgasket. How often are you needing to refill the coolant? Is the coolant boiling?
>>17534978
I haven't had to refill at all, but I'll look into the head gasket.
>>17535048
>I haven't had to refill at all
Then it's not the HG.
Is it the 4 banger or the 6? The S had both as options for that year.
Replace the water pump
Make sure the Tstat isn't backwards. Plunger side should be facing into the engine.
Hey /o/
A guy on my street is selling a BMW Z3. Should I consider buying it? How much is it worth, i.e. how much can I haggle it down to? Are there any big issues with this car?
Pic related
I can get a better pic of the rest of the car later (bad neighborhood and some people looked like they were about to jump me). It has a custom paint job that actually looks pretty tasteful
>is it automatic?
avoid
>is it the 4 cylinder?
avoid
>does it not have at least decent maintenance history and records?
avoid
otherwise it's worth a test dr-

why would you buy a car when you know the owners are human garbage
>a guy on my street is selling x car
>bad neighborhood
its a 1.9 so there's not much to go wrong besides the cooling system.
its pretty gutless but still fun. dont pay more than 3k
Does this trigger you europoors? Just took it a little bit ago
Not really. In return I can freely choose when to drive and when not to because work and shops are all nearby, and aren't forced to spend two hours a day commuting in the most boring road network in the world.

Hey, /o/
I'm in the market for a hot hatchback and I've narrowed it down to the following (not like there's too many choices in the US):
- FoST
- GTI
- FiST (I'm a big mofo and this car seems a bit small)
- Or wait to see how the Elantra GT Sport is later this summer.
As far as pricing I am wanting to spend less than 20k, ideally. I've got 32k saved up but I don't want to pay cash for the car so I am thinking of dropping like 7k as a down payment.
FoSTs in Houston run around 19k, but they are all ST1s with the tiny screens. The GTIs run about 20k but I feel you get more for what you pay with the GTI even if it's got less HP than the FoST. Plus, I've heard the build quality isn't there with the Focus what with the panel gaps and shit. A friend of mine has a Focus sedan and he says the dust and grass comes in the car whenever he mows the lawn.
I know in the fall there's the GTI refresh and I am tempted to wait for that to come out, but I don't know how pricing will be. These will come with the same engine (so sport pack engine is now going to be standard on all models).
Also the Elantra GT Sport is coming out this summer, apparently. No word on pricing but I like the looks of it. For a while there I considered getting an Elantra Sport.
So, what do you think /o/?

>>17535068
Sure they do. Comfy, plenty power, cooled seats. 4 seats. What more do you need?
