if the toyobaru engine is just the wrx engine without a turbo, why do people constantly say putting a turbo on a toyobaru will blow it up? if anything, isn't the wrx proof that the FA20 can take boost reliably?

pic unrelated
13 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Probably the non-turbo engine has a high compression ratio, meaning that slapping a turbo on there will result in detonation on pump gas unless you run low boost and a good tune.
>>
ignorance.
also compression ratio.
i think the wrx is cheap enough that if you wanted the engine you could drive the wrx instead of the brz. thats my opinion, i kind of like the wrx more. doesn't steer nearly as well though.
>>
>>17547689
there is nothing fundamentally wrong with high compression and a turbo, in fact thats what a lot of modern engines have, like ecoboost. but they are very conservatively tuned.

Here's a question /o/.

How do you begin to project car? Let's say you find something such as pic related. How do you learn and figure out how to get the car a new engine and everything hooked up so that the car works? Do you have to go to a shop? And what type of shops do that type of stuff? Do you just throw money at it and hope it works? What resources are out there?

>Basically, for a guy who knows his way around cars and does his own maintenance, how do you jump from that to putting in brand new engines and getting a car from basically shell to dream car?
25 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
If you weren't brought up on cars and stuff then it might seem a bit daunting. But it's something you will learn as you go through with things. Try to avoid paying someone else to do the work unless you simply dont have the facilities to do it at home, For example if it needs a respray but you dont have a garage.
>>
It's gonna be rather difficult if you don't have someone more experienced to help you out along the way, but you can still do it.

First I would decide on what I want for a project car. Once decided go find the online forum for said car and check out what other people have done. While you probably won't find out all the nitty gritty details you will likely a buyers guide and what free manuals are available online.

If you haven't already go and buy the car.

Buy a repair manual for the car, preferably the manufacturers manual. At the very a model specific manual like the Haynes manuals. I would avoid the Chilton manuals since they usually have little details. People at the forum probably have some opinion on which manual is best for said car, take this into consideration.

Don't have tools? Time to start buying them. For most things the cheap tools will be fine. Many like to buy the cheap tools, and if they wear out buy the better quality tool after that. Personally, I would skip the cheap ratchets, sockets, and end wrenches. At the very least I would get a good ratchet. Cheap ones have few teeth which make them useless in small spaces, also many don't stay going in the selected direction.

At this point you are pretty much going over the car and through the manual seeing what needs to be done. You can ask for help on the cars forum if you get stuck, but how helpful will vary widely depending on the community. Basically you are replacing a mentor with a bunch of random dudes on the internet. It's not preferable, but it's better than nothing.
>>
Buy a car with other engine options. I did my first engine swap on an e30 going from an m40 to an m42. The m42 was also from an e30 so plug and play but it still took a whole 2 days to get it in.

After I did that I haven't been scared of any work really.

Another thing is try and get a parts car to rip apart and sell parts from. They are a great way to learn the ins and outs of your car without wrecking what you want to keep. I've recently bought a non running e36 for the hood, battery cables, lights and other small things. I've sold the shell and 1 part and have already made up my money whilst putting value into my daily.

Most important thing is to have another vehicle. I'm planning a swap on my car that will be 'plug and play' but i'm waiting till i have the garage space and a motorbike to start it. I'll then buy a parts car with the motor I want and take my time. Not being rushed to get a car back on the road is really important.

Use the forums associated with your car. Read them and wikis till you can say without a doubt what parts you want and what problems you'll encounter doing any work.

Good luck anon

I have never seen a donk before where I live.
(mostly white people)

There was a large food event with lots of people going on.
A candy painted donk with parrerns drives through.

You could hear lots of people commenting "Isn't that pretty" and "wow look at those wheels"...

These white people were actually admiring this donk and saying it's pretty and that the wheels were cool. It was easy to see people were impressed.

WTF I thought everyone hates donks?
Why were people admiring the car? I have never heard anyone say anything but bad things about them on the internet.

Ok, so I just made 6 figures from Bitcoin and im going to cash out like 25k € while the FUD setles and I can buy back in cheaper, but I want a car (im a NEET with no car).

I was looking at a car that will look good, and will not have his motor burst in no time, and will not be a pain in the ass to maintain, and will not make me go bankrupty with gas usage. Just a nice cool car that's not a pain in the ass to maintain.

The Miata is of course a nice contender, but it's too small for me, I want a bigger thing.

I was looking at the Nisan 350z. All white, with some mods, nothing fancy, just to get rid of the default look which is a bit not agressive enough in my book. Front and back changed like on pic related.

Also looked at the C5, but it's too old. So looked at the C6, and it looks pretty good imo. I was told the motor is solid as fuck, and 100.000km buy is a safe deal. I would like less mileage tho if possible for the price.

Im from spain for the record, so have in mind that a C6 would have a more exotic status. I have never seen a C6 IRL, so here it's a cool car, maybe in America it's pretty default but here is cool.

https://www.milanuncios.com/otros-coches-de-segunda-mano/corvette-corvette-6-0-v8-coupe-auto-230230576.htm

What do you think of this one? 89.000 km, 26.890 €
Is it easy to drive? is it too heavy?

Also im not sure if I should go with maunal or auto. I think I would safer with auto desu. I have problems focusing so the less tasks I have do to at the same time the better. I dont care about racing anyone and whatnot, I want safety and I think manual would make me have a disctraction and crash, with auto any retard can drive.

If you got any cars for around this price that fit the criteria then let me know.

Tbh I didn't read your entire thread but I did read that you're fond of the 350z, to which I suggest looking into the Infiniti g35 and its variants.

I also skimmed around you not knowing if you want manual or auto. If you're not sure and you have no experience with manual, get a shit box civic or Miata so that you can practice learning how to drive standard on that so that in the off chance that you do like driving standard , you don't end up fucking up the clutch in your 350z.

(you're probably not going to like driving standard)
