hey /o/ im from /v/ anywayslast time i posted in the qtddtot and nobody helped
I have this 2001 jeep cherokee for about 6yr now and its been overheating really bad and has trouble starting when its warm i haven't been able go get the coolant cap off so ive been putting water in the wiper wash bottle the oil seems fine nice and red and clean i dont have the money to pay someone to fix whatevers wrong or to get another car
where should i start with troubleshooting? im not really a car person but it has 400k on the clock and the fuel tanks full and the tires are all pumped up

Not really. The 2.9l in that generation cracked heads a lot. Rusted quickly, and tipped over easily. If it's 4x4, then wheel it and don't get too attached. I would recommend an early 90s Explorer as a much better alternative (if you can find one - C4C killed a huge number of them).

Yes, numerous cases of the heads cracking have been reported. In fact, googling problems with the 2.9 you'll see it's at the top of the list.
It'd make a great first car, assuming he isn't going to drive it like he stole it. Assuming he'll make sure it doesn't over heat, ever.
And being that it's going to be his first car, there's a good chance he'll kill it before the engine goes.

probably isn't an issue. I don't know if any came with the 2.3 but If it did I would go with that, I had a 1st gen 2.9 efi ranger. All the power of a 4cyl with the economy of a v6.

I'm considering getting one of these little faggots.
It won't be a daily driver.
Just something to go to the city/run errands in that isn't a truck with a tow hitch and the turning circle of a locomotive.
The one I'm looking at is a 1.0L gasoliner.
It drives like a go kart and really hates potholes but is pretty nice otherwise.
The A/C is in them is worthless.
It can accelerate uphill in 3rd geat which was unexpected.
The interior is decent comfort wise.
Anyone have experience with them? What should I look out for regarding common faults, etc?
