Hey guys. Looking for an alternative to Snap-on's Modis. Anyone know of an Oscilloscope that has output state control, and similar features that's not crazy expensive? Mostly just need a good, responsive Oscilloscope function, but a built in code puller etc would be great. Budget may vary, based on what I can get, but I wanted to get a general opinion before dishing out a stack of cash. I don't really know anyone that's up to date on this that won't try and get me to jump on their damn tool truck.

its way the fuck out of date; huge, noisy, slow, shit battery life, and still uses the fucking key system aka DRM for OBD2. its a waste as a scanner.

the scope is ok, but i'd spend more money and get a pico + a scanner that isn't shit like the android based scanners coming out now. paying more than 400 bucks for a modis would be dumb.

It is clunky, and kind of a nuisance in some cases, but I do like the interface, and the output state control with the Oscilloscope/built-in DMM has helped out in several occasions. I don't own it, but I've used one a lot. The stupid key chips are annoying and get damaged easily. That's why I'm looking for a cheaper alternative that doesn't have the brand name with the half-assed warranty

How unreliable are the e90 bmws /o/?

I currently have a 2002 audi TT quattro for over a year and i want to trade it for a 2006 bmw 330i
The audi has been suprisingly reliable but ive gotten bored of it and i want a sedan so im interested in this bmw but i dont want it to break as soon as i get it and cost a fortune to repair

There's a few gaskets that like to leak and the water pump tends to shit itself randomly between 20k and 100k intervals.
And it's expensive to replace.

Aside from that, the drivetrain is solid
>>
>>17501928
They're the most reliable late model BMWs you can buy, no joke

It is true cuz of my mom's 2006 330i being bulletproof. Just oil change. That's it.

How hard is it to fix a door dent yourself, assuming your a n00b at doing anything on your car by yourself.
7 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>17501927
It is not possible to fix the door dent you described. You said the dent was 2 feet long, has jagged holes, and the metal support tabs for that section are torn inside.
>>
>>17501927
Depends on the dent. If it's small enough (like under ~5" diameter) I'd try a cheap PDR kit off of amazon first.
>>
>>17501927
OP, you don't really want to fix that dent? After the aliens jammed a free hot dog maker machine into the side of your door that generates free hot dogs out of dark matter, you should leave it alone. Accept the dent as the price of getting the free hot dog machine installed in your door.

How much should a rebuild on a b18c1 cost?

Got a new job and need to buy my first new car. Driving an RSX Type S right now that has a couple problems and could save some money switching from premium to regular. Live in Canada and I think winter snow will be the worst problem I have. Looking to finance over 5 years with a budget of about $30-35k CAD.

Should I go for a 1 year old vehicle and save a few grand or buy brand new? I was looking at AWD vehicles and all there is are shitty crossovers that don't have a whole lot of power or similarly shitty cars. Interested in manual hatches. Just looking for some advice. Will a FWD hatch with great winter tires be decent compared to an AWD with winters?

Driving tasks will be about 80 minute round trips on grid roads daily and winter and snow for at least 6 months of the year.

Are cars from 2005 outdated ?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
idk what you mean. just look around you next time you drive - cars from all years driving around
>>
>>17501695
Yes, it is 12 years after 2005 so therefore 2005 cars are outdated.
Anything else I can help you with?
>>
>>17501695
Depends on the context.

Cars haven't changed much since 2005, other than getting heavier, becoming full of useless tech and being harder to see out of.

I have a fucking Chrysler 300 with a Hemi
the bitch-ass coolant outlet hose (Made of metal) is fucked. Got a new one to replace it, but the fucking intake manifold is in the fucking way. I wanna unscrew the manifold (it's only 8 bolts) and lift it up just enough for the fucking metal hose to clear out and the new one to go in. Will I destroy the engine if I don't disconnect the vaccum and fuel lines? I only need to lift the motherfucker 2 inches. Appreciate your fucking help.
