For someone who isn't too saavy with vehichles, are saabs a good purchase? I'm checking out an ad for a 1999 9-3 SE for about $2000
130k miles
4 cylinder turbo
30+ mpg
The ad insists that he's taken very good care of oil changes and tune ups. It just passed inspection. I don't know what they are but the ad claims that the undercarriage and dog legs are spotless, saying that they're both common issues for Saabs, so im pretty inclined to trust the person.
There isn't anything wrong with it apparently, the only problem I've come across is that they might be expensive to fix and replace parts? or that it might be hard to find someone to work on it. Aside from that the car seems very nice, but I'm not sure if somehing newer would be better for the long-run. I'm not looking for anything fancy

Saabs aren't bad cars they were just terribly marketed with their far fetched comparisons to fighter jets and then when the company was purchased by GM it got ran into the ground.
>inb4 GM spergposting
9-3 is a solid commuter car and definitely more interesting than a 3k civic.
Nice and reliable but once something needs to be replaced you're going to spend more money then you bought the car for

auto or manual?
I work in security and supposedly I'm at fault for this little red line of paint transfer on the back bumper. I hadn't felt anything during my shift and I can't imagine hitting a car because of how high on the bumper it is. I've parked on the sidewalk a couple times and busy streets in downtown. I feel like it happened when I had the car parked. Can anyone explain this scratch? Could it be a careless pedestrian, bicycle, car, structure?
damn like wtf senpai why would they pin that shit on you? Say it happened while it was parked, wtf? They can't prove shit my nigga fuck them. Otherwise acetone/butane that shit off it'll be gone
Here's a different angle. The protrusion of the lower half of the bumper makes it seem more unlikely that I hit a car
Looks to me like some pedestrian was carrying something. It doesnt matter what it was get break fluid and a rag and wipe it until it comes out. I tried it last week on my shitbox and it got all the paint off.
What do you l/o/ls think of my first car?
>>17521502
It's a Civic.
Looks clean af
>>17521502
Nice condition, good choice for a first car.
Hey br/o/s, I need your opinion on a new used car. It'll be my first, I need it cheap and I need it kinda spacious (seat dropping at the back), also beautiful. This is what the current market offers me sub 4k euros. Which would you prefer? I am unsure about Alfa Romeo boxer engines, any discussion appreciated.

Getting your panties in a bunch over what other people do to their cars is FuCkInG cRiNgE
i just bought this T230 Celica, did it all legally, even got it inspected prior to handing over the money to the owner by a trusted mechanic within the family (not actually family related but he fixed a lot of shit within the cars in our family over the years)
there's however 3 issues that i found
also keep in mind that im a ausfag, all T230 Celicas have the 2ZZ-GE engine in it and a 6 speed manual tranny which the owner put in a short shifter in the transmission (which feels like it was done professionally)
First off: there's a grinding noise whenever i go down gears from 3rd gear to 2nd gear if i go too fast (by "too fast, i meant like 40kph, usually going slower than that then give it like full 1 second press into the clutch).
2nd issue is whenever i go from 5th gear to 4th gear it also grinds (im not sure how to get over that, i might have to learn how to double clutch probably)
3rd issue is that i just found out my right tail light just went dead. it must have died either today or yesterday (i got the car 2 days ago) and im not sure if its either sealed units or you can change the bulb normally.
/o/ please halp
also pic unrelated, that isnt my celica.
by the way, im not sure if its either a 1999 model or a 2000 model
also another note, im going to get the transmission fluid changed in a few days. just incase if it might help
Hello Aut/o/ so I saw this car the other day I'm considering getting as my first car.
I remember it was a VW but can't remember the model. Here is a rough drawing.
Notice the longer bonnet and more vertical windshield, almost like a new mini
Golf

A golf?
I think it was the 2003 Volkswagen Gti
Please help
Yes you could list multiple
I'm going for my driving test, hold my balls, /o/.
for that you'd need some in the first place
>be me
>no friends or social life
>only place I really drive to is work which is around 10 mins away
does my mechanic secretly judge for the low km in my car and how it is barely different between services?
I drive a vapemonile
He doesn't even remember you.
As long as you pay the bill, he really couldn't give less of a shit, OP. He's seen it all. Weed, guns, people using their car as a garbage can, rat poop in the HVAC ducts in the dash, etc. Your car is just another car in a long line of cars he's gotta fix and hope they don't come back.
You have autism levels of anxiety to think that even remotely crosses his mind. You're just a customer that's it.
How do you get back to driving a car after an accident? I had an accident a month ago and i cant get driving anymore, like i get a panic attack once im in the drivers seat or imagine driving. Ive been getting by walking, bicycle and scabbing rides of others but i need to start driving again
Pic related is my car, i know its a shitbox but i got it for free
Stop being a puss
I've been a really reckless driver, escaping death by a hairs width many times, but once I did have an accident (rear ended by some guy in Audi), I was deathly afraid of getting into a car. More so even at revving of engine. Don't worry you just understood the implications of the forces that it brings because they actually are scary and we are ignorant.
It took me 3 months to step into a car and drive like a pussy, 6 to get fully accustomed to it and a year to go hooning like a madman again. Just give it time, its a psychological wound that heals like any other. Slowly, and with time.
Pussies. I was nearly killed by an old man who drove into oncoming traffic and I got to reenact a "small frontal offset" test in my corolla. I was driving the next day in my brothers car browsing car gurus for a manual Golf
Post cool shit from when shit was cool.
Drift cars can be aesthetic
Race cars can be aesthetic
Rally cars and the people watching them can be aesthetic
Hey /o/ it's me, the guy Who asked about drifting the ranger. So, have any of you guys had experience putting disc brakes on a ranger? I've seen some of the guides for doing so and it doesn't seem hard. I have this big plan for making a DriftRanger
OP it's your first fucking car. Keep it stock, maintain it, and drive it daily. A ranger is a terrible starting point for anything that's not a prerunner. You're better off spending time getting a second job or a job at all and saving for a beat to shit sn95 mustang or something to turn into a drift car.
>>17520816
agreed, if it's two wheel drive, just do a 2" or 3" lift, some agressive but not too big of tire. you look like you live in commiefornia or atleast in a dessert-y area so take it in the sand and enjoy it. the thing wasn't meant for high rpm torque hole shots it was meant for light duty and dailying
>>17520802
Not a ranger, but for my camino I got a front end disc brake conversion kit. It was just a spindle, rotors, calipers, stuff like that. Even if you don't go through with making a 'drift ranger', disc brakes will always be better
I moved to a relatively small city in East Tennessee called Elizabethton semi-recently, and I have noticed a few thing.
I have noticed a ton of very common "platform" cars in very good condition. Lots of fox body mustangs, YJ and CJ jeeps, some pristine NA miatas, just to name a few, in addition to a lot of classic cars that are very well kept. But I have also seen a lot of very obviously modified cars, like huge spoilers and flamboyant paint jobs, some stancefaggotry, all sorts of things and all very common.
Anyone happen to know if East Tennessee is a bit of a breeding ground for car enthusiasts?
>>17520687
Not overly familiar, but isn't Bristol speedway in that area or are you further south?
