Why do people on car specific forums...or any special interest forums dislike discussing the subject matter?

you have dudes who seem to literally just prowl those forums just to tell off people (who have low post counts)for making new threads and to use the search function, instead of just helping a nigga out

like nigga I'm not going through some 500 page sticky or get recommendations from a thread from 2005 where prices and shit have most likely changed.

do people really rather just have dead ass forums than ones that are more active regardless of repetitive topics?

even you guys are more friendly in terms of help and suggestions.

Does anyone know how much I can expect to pay on top of the car's FOB to be able to legally get it to here and drive it on the roads? I know about VAT and duty, but are there any other costs that need taking into consideration? How much would going through an import company like Torque GT add to the overall cost? Is it worth it to save the risk and hassle of doing it yourself? Pic unrelated

Make sure if you do it yourself, you have an understanding of the extra fee's you need to pay.

Import fee, shipping cost, registration costs, etc. I think Torque GT cover's them, others might not?

What car you thinking of buying? I've been tempted to use them before, but not done so.
>>

I was looking at an S13 Q's Coupe (maybe a K's if I can find one for cheap enough)... so we're talking about £1000-1500 worth of car if bought at auction (or about double that for the K's) , although I'm not 100% about how accurate those prices are. I've just heard horror stories about people who haven't gone through importers like Torque GT. I'm under the impression it would be roughly £4k to get a Q's here and driving on the road.
>>
Hijacking this thread, insurance on imported cars is more than their UKDM equivalents. Is there any rule of thumb for how much more, like some %?

$50k for a souped up fwd grocery getter with a transfer case when you could get a Corvette or Mustang, etc for the same price.

Has anyone on /o/ driven at speed with night vision? Why not?

I'm sure you have some low-usage roads you use every weekend night.
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>Why not?
Because consumer night vision has a latency and refresh rate that'll cost your life, and professional night vision is unaffordable to mere mortals.
>>
>>17577390
>Has anyone on /o/ driven at speed with night vision?
no for a myriad of reasons.

>Why not?
mainly because letting people know you exist is a major part of safe night driving and cruising around with with your lights off can make this seriously difficult.

that being said, I have messed around with Gen.3 and a UAZ in an open field and it is pretty neat to be able to drive relatively fast in complete darkness.
>>
>>17577390
Because they have no compensation for things like oncoming headlights, a really narrow field of view, and everything's fucking green to boot.

They also probably cost more than your aging shitbox if you don't want to have to use IR headlights or die from not being able to see.

That's a fuckload of mileage.

If you know what you're looking at, or have a trusted mechanic who does, inspect it thoroughly and have a look at the paperwork. If it has been looked after properly, has a clean interior, all its original tool kits in the back, etc etc, and hasn't had like 7 owners, I'd say go for it. They're brilliant cars.
>>
>>17577411
You might misread that as miles, but its in kilometers, is 195k still alot for a Honda?

Is there anything wrong with the 2011 Legacy 2.5i? My friend claims it is terrible and breaks down constantly. He also has an issue with ford so I think he's just a ricer who talks out of his ass. Anyway I haven't heard anything but good things about this car. Does anyone have any strong opinions about this car?

Why isn't there a Market for a moderately sporty package car?

For instance you take you regular 150bhp shitbox that MSRPs for maybe 16k USD,
and then you have your 230-265hp sporty shitbox that goes 25-28,
and at the end you have your 300+bhp shitpost that retails for 30-40k+

but where is the 200-220bhp retailing for 19-22k MSRP?

why is it only mid-luxury sedans that scratch this engine threshold?

So I got this 2 years ago and I want to sell it. The reviews on it are shit and the prices are plummeting. Though it was good because of the Qashqai platform and the cheap price but I fucked up.

the list price with all the extra's was 38k. It's a november 2015 model with less than 40k autobahn kilometers.

Why aren't I getting 26k back? i'ts been up for sale for 2 months now

Would a 500 be an okay starting bike? I'm not completely ignorant to being on two wheels, I rode Dirtbikes for a long time but I'm not sure if a 5/600 would be far too much to start on.

For what kind of riding? You need to think about the weather too. Where is the US do you live or are you in Greater Yuropooria? If the latter you probably can't afford gear anyways.

I'm sure those pants are practical but they look gay as fuck. Is the zipper on the back?

Canadia but ill be doing summer sport riding only. And the pic is just an example. Textile and its a 270 degree zip but fuck id rather havev something better quality wise.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is too big to fail anyways so they stopped caring about their car market.

They proved that they made the better rally car. so they stopped caring. with them gone Subaru will likely care even less even whilst being threatened by the Focus RS.
