Would it be wise to buy a lexus with 200k ish miles?
I have 2.5k to buy a car and I need a reliable, powerful, and hopefully comfy (in that order).
Lexus usually strikes all three boxes but it's a struggle to find one for the price, and if I find a good one it has tons of miles like link related.

No at 220k it's toward the end of its life, only a matter of time before serious problems pop up or maybe that's why the dude is selling in the first place.

Do you really have to ask?

Those cars are bulletproof. You'll be fine.
Opinions on Buick vehicles? I'm thinking about specifically purchasing a Buick Century with low miles from the early 2000's.
>>17579159
endlessly reliable, but not all that exciting.
>>17579159
Incredible reliability. Cheap as fuck parts. Comfy sofa on the highway. Geriatric drive feeling.
>>17579173
I'm looking for reliability. I drove one before and It was smooth as shit.
What's the most reliable Toyota ever made?
>>17579133
All Toyota's. Especially the Tundra and the Tacoma. This Tundra in pic related went over 1 Million miles with it's ORIGINAL GASOLINE engine, plus and additional 20k before the owner gave it to Toyota. Only thing that went out according to him was the "reverse gear".
Reminder that this truck did all of this under 10 years. This just goes to show that no domestic truck has ever achieved anything like this ever with an original gas engine.
Once Toyota throws a Hino Diesel in their trucks, it's all over for the domestics.

Sup /o/ looking for a dd my cousin said he would sell me this for 8k what do you think? He just got an cat delete so it sounds dope. Should I do it?
bait
>>17579001
I would call bait too, but the filename tells me otherwise.
>>17578998
8k is a bad deal for a Mk6 Golf with work done to it, unless you can get receipts for it all from your cousin. You can get a clean 5spd 2013 golf for around 10-11k and work on it yourself, having the peace of mind that any fuckups are your own. I can also guarantee the cat delete is going to fuck with your ECU big time, this isnt a 1985 Cressida.
I'm a bit of a car noob, my family member is thinking of getting an audi sedan but I recall /o/ saying audis are shit because of plastic water pumps or something?
What was the flaw again?
Also just curious if it includes the R8 or were they built better since they were the halo car?

>try everything in my power to get a car
>some bullshit gets in the way or I have to spend my car savings on school shit
>The single decent condition manual civic in my area was being sold by a white trash vape lord, and even that didn't go through because the faggot didnt have a fucking title
>Even if I did buy it I probably wouldnt be able to afford insurance
It's literally impossible to buy a car for a 20-something these days without daddies money.
Especially if they cuck themselves with hard schooling like I did with med school.
Thanks Democrats. I really hope you faggots are happy.
So fucking true. I wouldn't have been able to get a car that wouldn't shit itself within 100km of driving without financial support from my family.
>didn't fuck around in high school
>got full scholarship to decent school
>got decent job making $70k annual
>paid cash for both my vapemobile and motorcycle and have flawless credit
Go take a look in the mirror and blame that guy
>>17578788
Im 22 with a credit score of 780.
And I graduated with a biochem degree and a 3.8 GPA, hence why im in med school.i
The problem is that what little I was able to save up (around 5k) is nothing if I want to actually buy the damn car, insure it, pay all the fees etc. We're not even talking about repairs or running costs here.
Oh and im also 60k in debt, and that's after one fucking year in med school, my undergrad was free.
Again, it's literally impossible for a young person to be able to afford a car on their own because of shitty Democrat economics.
Are aftermarket headlights strictly for ricer children?
Depends if they are halos or not
>>17578661
If yours are shitty, cracked and fogged up I'd say it's reasonable to replace them

I think halos look good on bmws
but I don't drive a bmw so
I got a question, /o/. My 90 ford ranger is in due of a fixing. I have a oil leak, acceleration issues, and it won't stay on unless I lightly hold the gas pedal for a few seconds so it doesn't turn off. Now I'm not a car geek but I want to fix it in my own but don't know where to start. A mechanic told me the oil leak is from the rear main seal of the transmission but i have had bad luck with shitty mechanics ripping me off so I wasn't sure if I believed him or not. Anyways can you guys give me a bit of guidance on how to tackle this project ? I know if I take it to a mechanic it's going to cost me a arm and a leg. I don't have any tools but I know people who do or I can buy a set of mechanic tools.
>>17578589
A rear main seal leak is both a common issue and a frequently misdiagnosed issue. It is one of the lowest points on the engine. The oil could be leaking from higher up and dripping down to that area, making it appear to be an rms leak. The leak is also unrelated to your other problems. How much oil are you losing?
You can start with a basic tuneup. New air filter, new spark plugs, etc. Youtube tutorials are your friend.
The idling and hesitation sounds like either a vacuum leak or a stuck EGR valve. It's not OBD2, maybe OBD1 was around back then? It's going to be interesting talking to that old ECU whatever it is.
>>17578765
Well every two months give or take 3 I add 1 quart of oil.
>>17578792
It has obd1 just searched it up

This April we put together the first appalachian area /o/ meet, and it was a success. No one crashed, and a fiero died for our sins
For the end of the summer, we're going to be doing a meet at deals gap. The path has yet to be laid out, but most likely we will be starting on tail of the dragon and heading into the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest to hit the sweepers.
Please take the time to fill out our headcount if you are thinking about coming, or are for sure coming. Thanks
