Should I purchase a Vespa? I dislike the driver's seat being off-centered in cars because autism, I don't care about my safety, and I live a low maintenance (read: neet) life.

UPDATE: some of you may remember me...

I asked about buying a 2008 g37 coupe sport automatic with 78k miles and lightly modded. Private seller asking 10k. Nothing mechanical was upgraded. Just some k&m coilovers and eibach pro alignment kit. I was scheduled to see the car last friday (9/8/17).

I had an import shop do a "pre purchase" inspection for $50. I spoke with the mechanic personally and he said the car runs great, no leaks, brand new tires, transmission fluid looks recently done, back brake pads 50%, front 75%, all suspension upgrades seem to be done correctly. THE BAD--- needs air filters, battery, hood struts. Also said that, based on the milage, the serpentine belt should be replaced eventually.

He said that in his experience, at around 70k miles, g37s have exhaust valve, gasket, and plug seal leaks... But this car so far had none.

I bought the car.

We agreed to $9,300. Drove it 200 miles home, no problems. Ive added 100 city miles since and still good.

Now for some concerns and questions...

Did i get a good deal?

The car idles at 1000 rpm (sometimes bouncing around give or take). Ive read that normal is about 700... So wtf?

Seller told me to reset the ecu to "learn", my driving habits. What??

What does reseting the ecu do? When should i do it?

Do dealerships have software upgrades that benefit my car in any way?

I want to reduce weight and/or increase horsepower. How to?? Are the stock wheels concidered heavy or light weight?

Does the dealership offer a tune for increased horsepower?

Is a super charger a good idea? Or a turbo? Can i use either of these reliably with the stock parts and components?

Is there any where to buy new or used turbos/superchargers or other desirable aftermarket parts for cheaper?

And last but not least... I accidentally filled up with 87. I have a full tank. Am i good? Or will this fuck my engine? I added a walmart octane booster and topped off with 91...

Help with all the above please.

Thank you.

I bought this for $8k, and I've put 4k miles on it and it hasn't broken yet.

Also it's only got 75k miles.

If you asked me, I'd say no, you got a shit deal, but I mean, if you like it, who gives a fuck?
>>

"Shit deal" how?
>>
>>17880328
>buying a shitty modded Z
>already idling high with no indication of what's wrong
it's fucked. you got a shit deal. should've spent 15k on a mint one. Whatever you saved up front you're gonna spend in the long run. Gs have no headroom for mods other than exhaust and a tune. Forced induction requires a full engine rebuild and you'll have to fight with the cooling system for track use.

No
I'm the guy who put it in the ditch

A little over a year ago, my brother ordered a regular cab short bed truck. Straight from Ford. A 2017 F-150 with the V8.

Earlier this week he just got his formal denial for his request. So he went back to the dealer to request a 2018. The dealer asked him if he'd like to buy a truck now or wait to get denied again. In jest.

He is determined though. And l think its a waste.
Is the small classic truck going to die? Did ford cause it? Or was it the chicken tax? Luxury trucks?

Someone told me the 2wd v8 is lighter than the 2wd ecoboost. Other than that. Yeah that would be a good combination. Might as well cut off a long bed though.

>city replaces all way stop with roundabout
>90% of traffic only goes North and South, the only reason they didn't just remove the North-South stop signs is because it's near a college and they don't want kids ripping through it
>buildings on three corners and a parking lot on the last
>roundabout takes up more space than before so you pull up much farther back
>view is obstructed to the point where you can't see anyone beyond the buildings or parked cars until you're already in the roundabout
>like 8 accidents happen a week because you simply have to drive through totally blind and everyone tries to take it at 30mph anyway
>city refuses to acknowledge their mistake insisting roundabouts are the way of the future
>there begins the arduous process of advocating for them to do the one fucking thing they should've done in the first place cause it's the only direct route on my commute and I don't want to play Russian roulette twice a day

Any other painfully obvious retarded/counter intuitive road design fuckups your city's had that causes a shitton of accidents?

They didn't put in a two-lane roundabout so that the N/S traffic can zip through 90% of the time?

There was a one-lane roundabout not far from me that was causing backups and the town finally upgraded to a two-lane for the main direction of travel and now it's great.
>>
No accidents but my home street was reduced to one lane going either way.
>Sometimes, one way has a dedicated left turn lane, but not the other.
>There is no dedicated right turn lane, turners yielding pedestrians hold traffic
>sequence is; lane - parking - bike lane - sidewalk
>to expand, not all areas have left turning lanes, not all areas have parking, some parts alternate
basically my home street has multiplied the amount of traffic we see and provides slalom course or else you will slam into parked car or incoming traffic
>>
>One intersection with perfect visability, dedicated turning lanes and perfect tarmac @ 80kph.

several accidents every year

>other intersection on the top of a hill, blind corner, shoddy tarmac @ 100kph.

no accidents in years.

it just doesn't make sense

Now that casette tapes are seeing a resurgence of popularity with millennials, hipsters, and nostalgiafags, do you know of the tape deck in your 20+ year old shitbox even works still?

>>
The one in my truck does. It works really well and has Dolby noise reduction. I have a bunch of tapes on my truck to listen to because ipods run out of battery

My AW11 doesn't have one because the previous owner replaced it with a gaudy pioneer unit that I can't figure out how to work. I need to replace that.

The tape deck in my 20yo shitbox is at present presumably sitting in a scrap yard, and the volume knob is seriously crapping out bigly. The replacement on my shelf I presume works but I never had a chance to install it ;_;

But that's OK. I didn't even have to fabricate my own aux port for my newcar to plug my walkman in to it :D

Can I drive my car to work on this tire?

Pic related. It's my car's tire.

I just noticed it. All tire places nearby are closed or I wouldve had it replaced by now... I'm thinking maybe drive it to work, a 25 minute drive, and then drive it to a tire place that's close to where I work and have it replaced....

Should I buy this 1981 Datsun $600 that won't start?

Never owned a car I'm willing to spend up to 1.5 months and $1200 to get it to start.

If I just buy the repair manual will I be good to go? How unreasonable is it to expect the engine to be in an even repairable condition?

As a project car? Sure.
As a first car you'll need to get up an running in order to use? Fuck no, are you stupid?

Unless you're a master mechanic that has already rebuilt several cars, use your money to buy one that actually runs.

Can somebody give me the rundown on Land Rover Discovery IIs?

In the market for a new ride, must be 4x4, and really want a (((current gen))) Tacoma. Had planned on saving up for the next year (recent grad, new job) but my transmission just went out on my 2000 Jimmy (a year too soon; just hit 190k miles).

I've lusted after the LR Discovery since I was a kid, and after spending the evening digging through overpriced used Tacos, decade old Sierras and Silverados, I've come across some good deals on a few Discoverys.

Do I fulfill a childhood dream, /o/? pic related is 2002 LR Discovery II SE AWD, 77k miles for $12k. I am frequently on gravel/trails/off-road, camp often anywhere from the Ozarks to the Rockies, and am planning a 2-3 month overlanding trip for sometime in the next 1-3 years.

Instagram "car culture" has warped and ruined car enthusiasm by pushing the lowest common denominator to the forefront and encouraging the "le selfie" mentality.

"JDM" has basically lost all meaning and is a blanket catch-all term for anything remotely Japanese. Buying shit knock off Chinese reproduction parts and having your local garage install them for you now qualifies as "BUILT NOT BOUGHT BRO #GOALS"

TL;DR mainstream "car culture" is a sewer and over half of the dipshits fishing for like-bait on IG with slammed budget coils and faux aero wings have no idea how to wrench on their cars. Car culture isn't being killed by the introduction of "self driving cars", it's being killed from the inside by its shitty style over substance community.

Man, ricers have always existed in some shape or form, and naturally they'll congregate together, you just think there's more because social media gives them a higher visibility. They're annoying, but government regulation and self-driving electric cars are going to kill the culture, not a bunch of stance fags fishing for likes on instagram.
