So I've got a 2000 mustang and the roads around here are absolute shit, it keeps scraping the ground while driving down the road. Is there any suspension kit I can put on it that'll make it ride a little higher off the ground?
I doubt it.
Get an SUV or stop living in Texas.
>>13645999
We have a 2001 impala that doesn't scrape the ground at all, so it shouldn't take much to get it to stop scraping.
Get tires with thicker sidewall.
Imagine if a company were to make some awesome feature-length automotive documentaries, focusing on enthusiasts and automotive adventures, and with great cinematography and soundtracks.
Who here would be willing to go see such a thing at a local theater during a national tour, or pay $5 or whatever to watch it on iTunes?
If anybody here is familiar with the ski, snowboard, skate, etc films that come out every year, imagine that but with cool cars.
There are already some of those. That Baja 1000 documentary comes to mind. The automotive world changes so often that a single documentary gets out dated fairly quick, getting car manufacturers involved is more difficult than asking a ski or skate company, auto world is extremely expensive as is just a normie car life is thousands out the door.
>>13645775
sounds like a neat idea but the world of auto enthusiasts is pretty splintered
who would they follow?
drag racers? mature/street racers etc?
drifters?
import tuner crowd?
domestic/muscle crowd?
off road crowd?
each group has a good size following but i wouldn't imagine much over lap between some of them
if they try to be broad and say give each segment 15-20 min then they wouldn't be able to get real in depth and appeal to people interested in that particular niche
>>13645885
I was thinking they'd vary, but mostly revolve around forms of racing that involve cornering and dramatic scenery.
I'd do it as several 30-min-ish segments, and some ideas I had included sending some US pro drifters to the Japanese touge, following a grassroots Pike's Peak or Thunderhill team, etc.
Welcome to my thread subjects, i am king cam.
Dicks in your butt are what you jam
king of the wankers maybe
I wish my 4' long torque wrench (for GT3 Centerlocks) wasn't at the shop so I could take a counter-picture with it.
>want to upgrade to a new car but need to save more and actually find a car I want
>have to drive the 2001 grand prix my parents bought me back in HS
how much do you have saved?

They don't play songs on the bus ride home :^(
I don't think the BBC World Service counts as a song.
If I'm remembering right, this weeaboo degeneracy was the last song that played in my car.

Been waiting years to find a decent clean type r shell and was able to bring this home today. Just needs paint and my motor swapped over. 1998 Acura integra type r #352
Looks Mint bra
Thanks man. Got a pretty healthy gsr motor with a Garett bb gt35r going in it. Gonna need a little love but it will be worth it.
niiice. I'm in the process of finding a clean miata shell. did you tow it home? i need a truck lol.
Stupid, stupid question.
I picked up a ford fiesta SE, not an ST.
The stock 1.6L engine puts out 120 hp...
I was wondering... and again stupid fucking question.
to my understanding, the ST has the same stock engine, just turbocharged?
To the point: I was wondering if I could get more from the regular fiesta engine in a not-so-expensive way.
maybe spend $1000 bucks for a 20 horsepower increase?
thanks.
ECU, exhaust should be enough for 20hp. This isnt a board for personal adivce tho
>>13645461
>maybe spend $1000 bucks for a 20 horsepower increase?
You could also spend $500 and an afternoon to LS swap it for 345hp
engines now days are designed to run lean and anything you do would probably end up causing you to lose power if its not tuned afterwards. even highflow air filters and small shit like that.
I'm trading in my benz for an older jag. I'm saving myself 5000 a year on payments.
Will I pay more than that a year on maintenance?
>>13645422
are you retarded OP? euro cars are crazy expensive to maintain and have low resale value. you just left the frying pan into the fire by what you just did. if you want a good car that is easy to maintain get a honda faggot
You'd save more money buying 31 Miatas, one for each day of the month
>>13645458
Hold on, don't listen to this fucker.
You're looking to trade it in for an X308 jag, right? 98-2003?
I can't vouch for 2004+, but these cars are VERY reliable. Not quite as reliable in the engine as their predecessors (which I own), but that is easily fixed, and probably HAS been fixed by the owner.
You'll want to make sure the secondary timing chain tensioner has been replaced with metal instead of plastic. It's about a $1000 job if you take it to the shop, much less if you know how to do it. Then, the engine becomes damn near bulletproof.
Another thing to watch out for: any car that has sat since 2001 or prior. It had nikasil lining which was eaten by shitty 90s sulphur-laced fuel. It was fully recalled, so ask if this car's engine was replaced. 2001+ was made without the shitty lining, and 2002-2003 had the metal tensioners I talked about before. Ideally, a 2002-2003 is what you're looking for.
These cars are fucking awesome to drive, OP. I prefer mine only because of its interior and it has a straight six (I'm a bit of a purist). The V8 jaguars get the same MPGs and have even more reliable electrics. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. You'll fall in love with the car. I guarantee it.
Pic is mine, they're so fucking sexy. Let me know if you have any other questions. 99% of the work you could do on the car is DIY friendly. 2004+ looks uglier and has air suspension, so keep that in mind.
What car do i buy under 10k?
i want sporty, and preferably decent mpg, and something " normal", aka not a 83 mercury capri with and ls1 swap, or peugot or fucking 90s ricebox or something
>>13644806
everyone on /o/ assumes that everoyne else can do these magic car shit
>oh yeah just swap an engine into this 30 year old car, itll be amazing
>fuck you 80s cars are still viable
an bmw 318ti is fun. theyre cheap 4 cyl. and they handle nice.

Hey /o/ I have a question
My 2005 honda accord lx has a very frequent problem, my o2 sensors keep going out.
I replaced my downstream AND upstream sensors 2 weeks ago and they are already out again. What would be causing that? My car isn't a piece of shit by any means but it gets 18 mpg when it should be getting around 30.
TL;DR why do my o2 sensors keep going out?
Pic unrelated

Your cat is bad
>>13644529
Is it feasible to fix that myself or should I have a mechanic do it for me?
>>13644529
This and as long as u dont live in comifornia they are cheap to replace
I posted this yesterday that i just bought this mustang. Was driving with icw cold a/c got a wiff of gas. Got home and kept looking for a leak and i found it. :(
Well, where is it?
Is this a good first car?

why are srt4's so expensive
also is there anyway to get rid of the neon's headlights? i want to make it more incognito
have nothing against it's great face, but the headlights are dead giveaway
For a point a to point b car not bad but he doesnt even know its fwd unless he did some huge drive train swao to awd. But anyways i would go for if i wanted a car to go to work and go get food in and save for a real car.
Do you think it's worth it buying ex rental cars/ company cars? Super high mileage but new models for cheap, people tend to rag the shit out of rental cars, full throttle dumping the clutch etc, but is it a good deal with the huge price cut?
Hertz President's Club member here. I baby cars, but I've been in cars with coworker, family, and friends and witness the abuse first hand.
Ex Fleet cars can be okay. People generally use them as point A to Point B vehicles, and while the trim can be a bit bare they are generally OK.
Anything owned by a formal rental company is a skip.
I've watched people drive first gear at highway speeds "because". Trust me.
>car prep guy here
Nope, all base model cars, often go over on milage for oil changes which use high milage oil anyways, they get damaged pretty often, the way we wash them leaves millions of little scratches on the paint, and think of all the farts that have happened
Hey guys, im deciding on getting a 1987 celica gts for around 2K and I was wondering on what your thoughts would be about it?
What do you think about the car? Is 2K a good deal? Im thinking on getting one this weekend and I just need your ideas.
>>13642402
>dat 3sge
If its clean as fuck with low miles 2k is worth it.
In the end it's a FWD heavy car from the 80s and not worth much.
But a very reliable one.
bam
>>13642428
Its clean with 98k on it.
What is so bad about these? Nothing?
Seems pretty decent to me just from looking at it. Maybe the world isn't so bad after all.
Ugly as fuck pigfat
