whats up with the houston meet? any plans ever get made?
>tfw living in Not Texas
Why even live?
>>13840207
Yeah too many meet threads now. My FL meet shitting things up (although I didn't start the thread), 5 NorCal meets always, KC meet (why?), and now a Texas meet.
There will be a Texas Meet thread when the tripfags plan it. They have one every 2-3months.
FYI- I have been trying not to keep the FL meet thread going all the time. We took a couple weeks off until anon started the current one. And I don't need another one until we get closer to the meet. So please forgive me.
not texan but I think I read it just happened, unless there was already another one being planned

I have 18k dollars, should I buy a c5 z06 or a c6 z51?
>>13839863
They're both the same amount of fast stock, but the C6 will be faster with mods and the LS6 is already worked up compared to a regular LS1.
>>13839878
Yeah, this. Go for the C6.
R33 gtr with money left for mods

Hey /dbt/,
Is $1500 for a '97 Yamaha XT350j with 22000mi and a meticulous service record a decent price? I don't really know much bout DS.
Emissions aside, what do you guys think of the VW Passat?
>>13839717
They're a nightmare to work on. I have a decent amount of them in my junkyard. People trying to repair them have a hell of a time finding the right parts because they make about 6 of everything. Engines, Transmissions, etc. So fixing them is an expensive mess.
Other than that, if you wanted to drive a cheaper Audi A3 or A4 it's the way to go. Pretty much exactly the same parts with a badge switch.
Dad has an '07 passat bought in '08 and it's already got 160k on it. Pretty good with gas and pretty reliable too.
>>13839717
The new ones are "Americanized". Much bigger, a lot less sporty. Basically a better looking but more expensive to maintain Camery. the Honda Accord is a much better buy in that segment
has anyone here tried to get a naked car?
As in you apply the philosophy of a naked motorcycle/cafe racer to a car
get it as close as possible to naked
i mean, for guys obsessed with weight ratios, getting lighter and faster, you'd think that's the first thing you'd do
anyone here have inspo
>>13839708
Naked cars are my favorite kind of cars.
I like naked cars

I really want to get to know more about cars.
Especially my lack of knowledge about engines and everything what's under the car.
Now I have really no clue how to get this knowledge (I don't know anybody irl who's into cars).
I found this game called Car Mechanic Simulator. Would that be a good source to learn about cars? As in; is it realistic enough to really learn new things about cars?
Go take community college classes. You aren't going to get enough out of a computer game to warrant the time investment.

Is that something American?
No idea what you're talking about. I'm from Europe.

Sucks to live a kek country, doesn't it?
what tyres do you /are you going to have mounted on your car now that its getting colder?
pic related, here.
also tyres general
Good question, all I know is they're Continental. I got them with the car back in spring and they're still under a cover in the garage because the weather seems to refuse getting colder.
Nokian tyres hakka 8. Nokian is winning every test for studded tyres all the time.
Hakka 7's on their last season

E36 BMW with a 5spd.
One of the best cars you can grab for <$5k of you want to turn and have a little power in a straight line.
Parts aren't bad either. OEM might be expensive for some stuff, but they have such a big aftermarket that you can always find stuff on sale or used.

is it good or is it awfully bad?
>>13839440
It's alright. The engine is good. The steering and chassis has become numb to cater to the Chinese people who buy it for brand name, but want a more luxurious ride. Better options (even than the 340i) are the XE, C450, ATS, or IS350. I've personally driven the 335i, IS350, and ATS. From my experiences and reviews/comparisons, it's pretty clear that all 4 of these are better driving cars than the 3 series now.
>>13839455
what do you say about the 320d? the middleclass wagon
>>13839440
I like the the looks of it more than f01/2. Im not sure if this is BMW thing, or just one car, since i only driven one BMW 7 series, but its way to hard for luxury car. Even older w220 was way smoother on same road than 2012 bmw7.
/o/ why aren't you driving e30 with s54 engine?
because bmw is garbage kek

Requesting advice from cheap asses who have experience in cheaping out on their cheap car specifically 5th gen honda civics.
Hi there I'm an 18 year old turd burglar that has no job and barely enough money to pay for air. I want to lower my car but on a budget that can't afford the cheapest full coilovers and I will not put ebay sleeves on stock struts. So my solution: build my own!
Would it work to buy a set of aftermarket ebay-bought china struts, fit them with ebay-bought china coilover sleeves, and use aftermarket ebay-bought china top hats on them? Would cost about $250 which is in my price range. And would this work better than slapping coilover sleeves onto stock struts? Thank you
>>13839253
Just cut the springs already
>>13839262
Absolutely do not do this. Your car will bounce around like you're riding on a trampoline with fat chicks jumping on it.
Even all cheap china shit will be better than that. They work fine most of the time, they just wear out faster than good quality parts.
just wait and save your money for the good stuff, and get a job.
