>Honda Reliability

Enjoy your broken computers.

>The usual problem with the Honda Accord transmission, namely the 90,91, -, - Accord, is a bad transmission computer. What happens is that the transmission computer has a couple cheap parts that fail. The failing parts may or may not automatically put the TCU into a saftey (limp) mode (aka, the "fail safe strategy.") The three known failed components are two resistors and a capacitor inside the transmission computer. The symptoms are of several types. The car "S" light or "D4" is on (just stays on D4 no matter what gear is selected) or blinking and the transmission won't shift into any gears or sometimes stuck on a certain gear. The trouble codes could be 1,2,7,8,9,15 or None. Shifter interlock control unit buzzes. When the driver steps on the gas the rpm goes high but the car refuses to move at the expected speed. By resetting the TCU, either by removing the fuse for a certain period or by disconnecting the negative battery for 5 to 10 seconds will eliminate the problem, but only temporarily.

Does anyone know any wreckers in western sydney that arn't complete dumb cunts?

Im looking for a particular set of OEM 3 MPS rims, and every time i enquire about a set I see, or to see if they have any that they arnt advertising, all I get are 2 word responses or send me info about a completely different product. One time I tried calling up only to be shouted at in Arabic as soon as I said "hello".

Turbo help.

My brother is upgrading his turbo and i have a good chance of snagging some parts, currently im trying to work out if a "TD05HR-16G6-10.5T" will fit my car.

i understand how to read a compressor map however ive hit a stumbling block i cant see where to work out what CFM / engine RPM The turbine side of the turbo needs to see in order to spool.

According to my calculations here i need to spool the turbo at 105,000rpm but can i actually do that with the airflow of my 1.8L shitbox? at what engine RPM will i start making boost? for how long in RPM will i be at 13psi?

>>
Wayyy too large for your shitbox.
>>
>>13843815
Addendum: You probably won't make over 7-8 psi... At any rpm, especially with a journal bearing turbo.
>>
>>13843820
Why not, according to the compressor map the compressor side is actually really nicely sized for the engine, i just cant find info on the turbine side and how the calculations for that works.

I'm looking to help my girlfriend buy a small car.

Preferably a subcompact/ b segment car. Sometimes it seems that subcompacts are more expensive than compacts...

So what are the cheapest subcompacts from 2010?

We've been looking at the Hyundai Accent hatchback, she likes the coupe motif of it.

I imagine Mazda2's go a bit too high...

What do you guys have to say about the Chevrolet Aveos?

TL;DR: What are the cheapest used subcompacts of 2010?

Why these cars are so underrated?
They're faster than Porsche, cheaper than Porsche, better looking.
They're in same league as Ferrari F430 or Lambo Gallardo, mine SRT-6 makes 0-60mph in 3.4 sec. 0-100mph in 7.5 sec,

Hey /o/. I'm in uni right now and am looking for a winter beater in the $2500-3000 price range. I was originally looking at things like manual civics and old Mazda econoboxes of a similar variety that are the traditional route, but it recently occurred to me that because of the low desire for automatics, the low value of sn95s as a whole, and the price dip for Mustangs as the winter approaches I could get an automatic Mustang GT as a cheap winter beater.

Does /o/ have any opinion on this? Before it gets brought up - to me, a limited slip rwd v8 with 270ft & 220hp is more fun even with an auto than a fwd Honda or similar with a manual & 120hp.

With that said, that is my opinion and not the point of the thread, not everyone prioritizes a desire to hear a v8 rumble and to be able to go sideways in the snow. My questions are more along the lines of: are their any automatic transmission problems for this generation? Any general problems with Mustang GTs of this generation? I have heard that even the v8s are tuned from the factory for 87 octane, this should make it more affordable with gas to help offset the sheer volume it drinks. Does a tune for 91-93 octane alone really get enough benefits to be worth it? Or should I just keep it fairly stock and not forget it's a beater?

Here are a couple examples I found:

This one even has the 5.0 instead of the gutless 4.6

That gen of mustangs are pretty robust. You should consider a total price of the car + buying winter, since summer tires + rwd will make you forcefully miss all your lectures.
>>
If you're OK with the auto V8 combo and that's you're price range, have you considered a Thunderbird of the same year? Better interior, a little heavier, but they can also be had with the same Mustang 4.6 SOHC and they came with IRS. Price is a little cheaper because it lacks the boyracer image.

It's funny how jelly people get when you can literally stay in bed all day and make as much as them, then park in front of the store in your own reserved space and waltz in when your nerves are feeling good.

Hope whoever wrote that loses his job.
