Alrighty /o/, what are the dos and don'ts of jacking up a car on your own? I've seen /o/ lambast people on Facebook posts and such for doing it wrong and risking death, so I want to make sure I don't make any mistakes. Are the jacks that come with cars for tire changes enough? Should I get one of those rolling single ones like pic related? Put simply what's the safest and easiest way to get access to your suspension and underside of your car?

>Put simply what's the safest and easiest way to get access to your suspension and underside of your car?

a lift

seriously though

just get jack stands dont go getting under a car with just a jack if you can help it
>>
Buy a pair of jack stands, and a quality hydraulic jack.

Best place to jack is the subframe.
I don't like using the pinch points because those are designed for the scissor jack, and a large disc of the hydraulic jack only ends up bending that pinch.
>>
step 1: jack the car up with a real hydraulic jack. not only are they not flimsy they are just plain easier and they are cheap.

step 2: place jack stands at sturdy locations. pic related. this includes the designated areas under the rockers, crossmembers, diff, subframe, etc.

always leave the jack snugged up to something to catch the car. if I'm working on the rearend of my car ill have jack stands in the designated spot under the rocker and I will also have the jack snugged up to the rear diff or rear subframe to catch the car if a jackstand fails.

redundancy nigga.

and the reason you have to use jackstands is because hydraulic jacks will lower slowly by themselves and by the time you notice it could be too late. frog in boiling water style. countless people have died so dont think it wont happen to me.

So, what does /o/ think about the new F30 LCI? They've got a few at my local dealer and I'm thinking about getting one. I looked at at F30 in 2012 but the steering was numb and it felt like driving a rental car. I tried a 2016 328i yesterday and it was surprisingly ages better than my 2012 experience. I've got about 75k to spend and I figure if I don't buy one sooner or later, I probably never will.

Mehhhh. From the reviews I've read, the steering is still numb and the 340i is somehow slower than the 335i despite making more peak power/torque.

getting ready to finally sell my 328xi

any tips for making a good, compelling, informative CL ad? and specific pictures to take?

the priority is selling quickly, I'm pricing it a good deal below KBB and not looking to make any profit. although not looking to lose much either

Anyways i would suggest be accurate as possible and pricing it slightly above what you think youll get for it becuase you know people are going to try to jew down the price.

and don't be one of those "price is firm" aholes either.

On the one hand the new one looks quite a lot better. On the other hand, that's because it looks almost exactly like a Jaguar XF (disgusting wheels notwithstanding) which is a reasonably good-looking car.

I swear between this and the Fusion's db9 copying, Ian Callum is getting on for the most influential designer of our time.

So, how important is this part (n9)?

It's an oil nozzle from a J35Z5 Honda Ridgline Engine. I bought all the parts for the rebuild, and when taken apart one of these was broken.

The mechanic doing the repair told me he could fix the part or block off the port, leaving it with no nozzle, as he told me there "wouldn't be any problems with that"

I highly doubt it. IT's thrre for a reason.

What do? Shipping it from abroad would take at least two weeks, and cost me over 100 bucks because fucking third world custom laws.

I'm looking to buy a 4x4 truck for the purpose of offroading and as a warmer place to sleep in the winter. I'm 6'4" so the average bed length won't work on something like a Taco.

Been thinking about a 1/2 ton long bed but the gas mileage is rough. Any other good dirtbag vehicles out there?

most newer V6 1/2 tons will get similar mileage to the taco.

Holy fuck im so glad im 5'9", i fit perfectly in my Tacomas 6ft bed.

Buy an 80s Diesel Suburban OP.
>>
Look for a 7.3 Powerstroke Excursion or Suburban. If you're going to be sleeping in the truck often I'd get an SUV instead, more insulation and you can idle it if you need heat or A/C.

So I'm looking to buy a bike. I'm living in Thailand and these 3 are in my price range (the CBR being slightly more expensive). It'll be my daily commuter and will be driven mainly to and from work (mainly city driving). Some times I'll have my wife and newborn with me (we have access to her families truck so it won't be often but I will have to bring the baby to her grandma's before work once she is able to return to work which is only a 7 minute drive).

We were originally looking at just getting a scooter (Click 125) but figured I'd rather get something I'll actually enjoy riding every day.

Anyone opinions on these bikes? I'm also considering the Z250/300 and possibly the CBR500F due to the less aggressive stance which would make it easier to carry a child on the bike.

If anyone has any experience with any of these bikes their input would be appreciated (I've owned a Ninja 250R and a GSXR1000 in the past).

Note: Before anyone starts making comments about driving a bike with a child, don't. In Thailand it's not rare to see a family of 5 riding a 115 scooter. A car just isn't practical to me due to the traffic here. It would take me an extra 30 minutes each way to go to work.

Oh and I'm 5'11" 230lb and my wife is 5'1" 100lb. She might drive it the odd time but we aren't worried if it ends up being to big for her.
>>
Get a naked bike, or at least a sport without clip-on (with normal handlebar).

New 250-300s "supersport" looking bikes are terrible for riding in the city. 300-500 naked bikes on the other hands are great and comfy to ride in the town/tight turns and they are also a lot of fun if you wanna go on the toegay.
>>
>>13936722
My 2012 Ninja 250R worked for me fine while riding around Chiang Mai for 6 months. Their traffic is about as bad as where I'm living now (Hat Yai), it's why I was considering the R3 and Ninja 300R.

I've seen quite a few of the Z300's running around here and I like them (I've also got about 1000kms on a Z800). I just love the supersport styling which is why I'm interested in them the most. But I'll definitely give the CB300F and Z300 a check.

I'm still leaning toward the CBR500R though. It's got good power for when we decide to go on longer trips (being a 3-5 hour ride from some of the most beautiful islands and beaches in the world will lead to a lot of long weekends).
