Why is it so hard for people to understand that you perceive speed in small, light and almost non-insulated cars totally different than in huge, modern cars?
In your average modern 1.8 ton car you have literally tons of insulating materials and metal around you. This is okay since it keeps you way safer and relaxed than the old and loud shitbox but it also more and more disconnects you from what is happening outside.
This is why hooning around like a madman in a 100hp golf mk2 is usually way more entertaining than doing the same in a 200hp modern equivalent.
And people still think the "driving a slow car fast is fun" is just a maymay
>>13990840
Only americans don't get it. Mazda has said many times before that it is better to go fast in a slow car, then to be forced to go slow in a fast car.
0-60 in 5 seconds? Cool, enjoy going 30 on public roads.
>hit 250 kph limiter in friend's Audi A5 on the Autobahn
>"oh, okay, didn't expect it this soon"
End of story. Zero excitement.

Let's have a nostalgia thread. Post anything nostalgic about cars.
Pic related, I just found my most favorite toy car from when I was a kid. This thing is over 20 years old.
Are you guys man enough to guess the model?
Please respond.

MK2 Celica Supra
First is a Mk. II Supra, second is an Opel GT.
Guess I'm a man now.
Hello everyone! I am the creator of this thread here!: >>13984031
I have decided to forego the voting process because I and so many of you feel strongly about this vehicle and that it has the right to win this honour.
A few things about this car:
> it is affordable so it will get many people to fall in love with driving/track days
> it's styling is superb. For the money you can truly be proud to drive this car. The wheels look amazing too.
> it's performance is great. Especially when it outclasses other fun, cheap sports cars like the Toyota frs
> it is cheap to own. It is reliable.
> it can excite in ways more expensive super cars cannot. It can be taken to the limit enjoyably unlike a supercar which will scare and kill you
> the interior is A+
> it is the best Miata yet
So there you have it! The Miata is the 2015 /o/ Car of the Year! I know this is the right decision because since it has come out we have all praised its looks and performance. Everybody wants one!
Congratulations Mazda!!!
No one cares. Saged

It really all depends on how much you like your gear box. if you are even 50rpm off the beat you are doing damage.
>>13988749
I feel like I might have given a bad explanation, but let me clarify.
You can both quickly up and downshift very quickly. Your rpm should ALWAYS be matching the speed during any shift, otherwise your bike will lurch due to the mismatch of rpm (at that gear) for the bike's speed. When upshifting this is a no-brainer. You reach your shift point, and you shift into the next gear.
When downshifting you also need to be at the right rpm. This usually means you're going to pull in the clutch, quickly 'blip' the throttle to gain some rpm, downshift, and let the clutch out. Since you're going to be in a lower gear, you will need the extra rpm to match your speed. Then the engine brake will slow you down. It also can be done very quickly. It becomes muscle memory. You need to know how hard to blip for the speed you're currently going and the gear you're shifting down to.
>then I assume you just brake and hold the clutch in as you shift back down to 1 or N.
It's usually wiser to engine brake almost the whole way until you come to a complete stop. It's just better to have the bike in gear should anything happen. When coming to a full stop, I will rev match and use front brake down to 2nd gear, and the last 20 ft or so I will usually just hold the clutch in and brake to a stop.
Simply holding the clutch in, clicking down to first, and only using brake to reach a stop could leave you vulnerable. If for some reason you need to accelerate, you need to do a lot of work to get your bike in the proper gear for your speed and give the right throttle.
>>13988802
>Press up on the shifter, rev the throttle a tiny bit, you just moved up a gear without touching the clutch.
getting a used gixxer 600 soon with low miles. what mods do i need to do to it to get it track ready? is there a check list somewhere i can follow? stuff like fairings, etc? where can i get racing graphics?

Pass them, switch lanes in front of them, slam on the brakes. Make sure they can see my Hurrdurrring sticker real good before I sue them.

So I'm looking to get a V8 car to augment my daily driver because they seem to be the cheapest most reliable RWD platform to live with.
I'm torn though between the SN-95 Mustang and LS1 F-body. I'm looking to make this a long term investment.
Any advice on owning either? Common issues? Etc.
>>13988778
I'm normally all for Ferd over a similar GM product. But in this case, you should get pic related.

u want a near 12 second car or a high 14 second car
My area has a lot of cheap 80s corollas like pic related, would one of these be a horrible first car? Could I drift it if I get a rwd one?

>"Oh yeah, it's a stick too so it can't get stolen"
>Nig barber literally stops my haircut to talk about this man's eurocivic for ten minutes
Why?
>>13987186
BMW gets a lot of praise for no reason in the US.
Litteraly worse than a civic.
And euro civic is a correct statement. Shit is looked at like Hondas are looked at in the states.
ITT: poorfags
They're great cars, anyone that says otherwise is mad because they can't afford one.
That being said, fucking everyone owns one. I honestly wouldn't buy anything other than an M or a less common one like an E39 or E30. They're more common than V6 mustangs FFS.
