All things jeep.
Pic related, I'm thinking of buying a jeep simply for fun and as a commuter. Are they just meme cars? Or actually fun to drive.
http://www.newsday.com/classifieds/cars/consumer-reports-best-and-worst-car-brands-in-2015-include-lexus-mazda-and-toyota-1.10387053
Go to the bottom, that's where you find Jeep.
>lowest possible reliability rating
I'm also thinking of buying a jeep but I hear they break down often, anyone have experience with this?
How about a nice Corolla?
Hey /o/
What are some good car related gifts? What would you guys like to get ?
Small budget please
I want an 80s Corolla.

I was at the mall the other weekend and almost grabbed one of these wallets for my BMW fanboi friend.
Get real authorized stuff tho. That cheap eBay junk is garbage. Those wallets were actually nice and real licensed BMW shit. Wanted $75. They had nice watches too.
>>13998062
good questchin
What's your favorite adventure of Tacomeat Fijiwater?
>>13997779
I liked the ep where he and his brother Sasuke looked like NEETs from /o/. Really added to the immersion and realism of the show.
I liked the whole of 1st Stage to 3rd Stage.
He actually had a personality back then.
I liked the scene where fuji got his dick wet
is it wrong that i think the 328i is nicer looking than the m3? i don't know why but i just get that impression.
>literally identical apart from the wheels and mirrors
>>13997759
>4-door ftw
The 2-door E36's and E46's don't look bad. But I really wish they made 4-door E36 and E46 M3's. I always thought the E92 looked awful. That body/door line on the bottom just looks goofy. E90 M3 is GOAT.
>>13997854
OP's has the M3 side skirts and front bumpers too, right? Or did they offer those on the E36 328is?
Alright /o/ show me your toolbox
What tools do you have?
What tools do you need?
What tools do you want?
Here's mine.
I have a socket set, wrench set, screwdriver set, breaker bar, torque wrench and assorted odds and ends.
I need a proper hex key set as I only have random sizes laying around.
I want to get an impact gun, but I need a better flowing compressor first
And here is my ratcheting wrench set
I suppose this is what I have... not a box in itself, and I share it with my father. Pretty much everything on the right wall is stuff I've bought, while the main wall and left wall is his stuff that he has bought and inherited
Still need a proper impact wrench, oil-filter cap set and some new vice-grips
>>13997628
I need to organize my shit sooo bad. Just been lazy. My big tool box is buried in the garage, and I still have 5 boxes full of random shit sitting in my bedroom that I need to organize and put in the tool box.
Then I have a smaller kit for stuff around the house, and another box full of assorted tools. What a clusterfuck.
Pic related has been on sale for $50 lately, I'm thinkin about grabbing that. I also want a nice set of the ratcheting wrenches. On Black Friday, they had some GearWrench ratcheting wrench sets for cheap when I was at the mall. Shoulda done it but I don't need them that bad.
Hello /A/
Im considering buying a car, in around 7-8 months when i have the payment ready(4-5k).
Im 20 years and currently studying at college at the side i have a job.
I want to buy a used car, i've been looking at an Audi A1 for 19k $
The down payment is roughly 4k and i'll have to pay 222 $ a month for 7 years(84 months) interest pro anno is 6 %.
The ones i've been looking at have been going 74k miles and fabricated in 2012
Mostly im curious does this sound like a bad idea? 222 $ a month doesnt seem bad. But 7 years into future is a lot which i think is what seem so scary.
Im from Denmark and cars are in general expensive compared to what you really get.
I recommend buying a 90s beater with your $5k instead. No $222 a month (plus don't forget, MUCH cheaper insurance) is very nice. You can use that money to do fun things instead. Get an old corolla or something those last forever, I dunno what the used car market is like in Denmark but $5k can get you a really nice condition one here.
>>13997581
It literally wont get me anything in Denmark and i want my first car to be a great experience. I know it can be hard to predict the future but i would be keeping the A1 for as long as it would make sense(Repair cost and such). And from what i know Audis can drive pretty far before the engine gives up so i dont think 7 years is unrealistic for a 2012 model with around 74k miles on the engine? I could be wrong i dont know much.
And when it comes to money and fun - i live alone, i workout, go to college and have a job i have the fun i "need" and could easily spare the 222 $ and even more.
>>13997546
What the fuck is /A/? Buy a civic and shut up.
Why is Ford so inferior to Mazda?
Not the same company anymore.
>>13997507
Im glad the Maxima is Nissan's most reliable model.
>>13997507
Also, I can't believe Toyota's hybrids are more reliable than its solely combustion engine cars.
Anything is better than the is250 tho. That car is shit.
What is an NSX? There's only been one before now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUDLUSqfqxg
I think it can best be decribed as a pure racing glove, combining man and machine to produce speed. The old one did it with great mechanical engineering, and the new one seems to do it with electronic engineering as well.
The body looks pretty disgusting, I will give you that, but everything else looks very promising. Everything about the drivetrain and suspension seems highly tunable and therefore open to further improvement. I like the fact that it has a linear power curve, and I don't mind the fact that computer's control everything. What I do mind is the lack of control they are giving the driver in the video in their current state.
Take planes for example, we used to have all mechanically controlled dogfighters in WWII, now we have completely computer controlled
fighters that wouldn't even fly without flight stabilty systems. Why not apply this same thought to cars?
Gimme your opinions /o/.
Should've been FWD
I don't think its progressed far enough to do with an NSX. They aren't going to sell any because it is now in the realm of hypercar, in which it is mediocre, but it's still too expensive for the type of people who would have bought the old NSX when it first came out.
It's also really fucking ugly.
Good review. Will it be faster than the GT-R?
About exhaust sound from the comment section:
> its the sound of your roommate turning on the vacuum to try mask the sound of smoking a bong lol
Hi /o/ can I have advice/opinions/stories about the ford ranger? I was thinking of buying one I saw that only had 100k miles, are the smaller, older ones reliable?
You're better off with an S-10 because it's not a ford and when your balls drop you can do a v8 swap.
rangers are without a doubt the best mid sized truck you can get.
if it has the a4ld at 100k and hasnt been rebuilt, make sure you have the money to fix it because that is the weakest point.
>>13997387
I'm asking about ford rangers not chevy.
>>13997395
A4ld is automatic yeah? It's a manual 5 speed which i think are more reliable but idk
>I used to think BMW was british because of how much Top Gear shilled it
>>13997365
>fwd is fast
>pushrod engines are good
>rwd is better than awd
>>13997365
I used to think Subaru was Australian because Crocodile Dundee shilled it.
can someone explain crankcase ventilation to me pls?
it looks simple on some cars and a clusterfuck on others.
why is this and what is the best way to design a system on an engine you're rebuilding from scratch?
bimp
on most cars you arent revving the tits off it all the time so the excess oil that can be sprayed out (vented) isnt that high - so its pretty basic.
on a car like you posted, this is probably tracked (or at least should be) so due to spending more time at higher revs more oil can be vaporised/atomised/whatever the term and needs to be caught and emptied.
>>13998105
but with an engine like the RB that has oiling issues what is the way to spec it from scratch?
assuming some hard driving, more power than stock and the occasional track day?
any basic principles?
ITT: Car features you don't like
>rear-view cameras
>driver assistance braking (or whatever it's called)
>sport/performance mode on autotragics
>>13997287
>not liking rear-view cameras
Are you a fag?
>FWD but is heavier than 2,700 pounds
>ipad in the dash
>pretty much every car made after the year 2000
Rear view cameras are needed with gunslit rear """"windows"""". Sport mode gives the steering some feedback usually, which is nice. Also makes the throttle more linear.
Idiot-enabling auto-braking (not ABS) is pretty bad, though.
Hello /o/. I want a WRX STI but I've come to find that there are many options on the market for AWD sports cars. Should I spring for another current of future option, wait for the new WRX model or go with what my heart says?
The STI is a head turner, but in AWD sports car. Id say go German, Audi specifically. expensive to repair, but its a more comfortable ride, and stealth wealth is a virtue
Going to post AWD sports cars until I get responses.
I'd say go for an Evo ix or whatever if you've ever wanted one l, they're gonna appreciate sooner rather than later now.
What does /o/ think of the Toyota Avensis?
Boring as fuck. Don't buy it if you have any life left in you. You've only got one life. Go get yourself something awesome.
Other than that it's fine as an A to B car.
The minicab guys don't even touch them.
>tfw no manual rwd performance Toyota sedan or coupes
Why don't they exist
I can't find anything for sub 5k
I'm crying
Why is there no thread about this? Honda gonna make a new S2000.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/honda-s2000-sports-car-return-mazda-mx-5-rival
>Now a third generation is said to be under development as Honda tries to reconnect with the S2000’s dedicated fan base. Representatives from Honda’s advanced engineering department are said to have attended a recent S2000 owners’ club event in the British Isles - a sign that the firm wants to listen to enthusiasts in order to help it to position the next version of the car accurately.
>The new S2000 will stay true to the original’s principles of a front-mounted engine, sited behind the axle line, and rear-wheel drive. It will be pitched as a faster alternative to the MX-5, although its performance should be more of a match for that car’s stablemate, the forthcoming Fiat 124 Spider, which uses a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine instead of the Mazda’s naturally aspirated 1.5 and 2.0-litre units.
I don't care about rwd verts
> said to be under development
> Honda tries
> advanced engineering department (as opposed to the regular engineering one)
And it looks as generic and anonymous as the NSX concept- horrible.
looks like a transformer or some BSG cylon raider
