You know the 2-stroke 4 cylinder engine is pretty fast and powerful right?
Shitpost away faggots
Last week some F-body Camaro guy was blaming his long gearing for losing to a basic RSX.
Never heard someone blame their gearing before.
I looked it up and their gearing isn't even that long.

>All is normal until the 2 minute mark

>your car weights ~850kg
>no ABS
>emergency braking
>brakes lock up
>sliding ensues
Would rapidly pumping the brakes actually shorten the braking distance (especially when looking at the example GIF) or would it be such a small difference and not worth it?
Anyone whose ever gotten their drivers license knows you don't lock up your fucking brakes.
Push until you lock, than ease off to stop sliding, than apply just a little more for max braking.
The issue is people panic and don't threshold brake.
You brain is already a built in ABS.
Pumping the brakes would be fucking retarded when you can just avoid locking them all together.
>>14002345
>Would rapidly pumping the brakes actually shorten the braking distance
yeah
So, I'm left with the decision to either get a car similar to a 1991 cadillac seville which I love the aesthetics of or a car like the toyota camry which I don't but saves me money. I'll have to commute 100 miles total each day and am not sure which car I should get. A car I like the look of but has worse fuel economy or an ugly car with a better fuel economy.
Which decision would you make and do you think the difference in fuel economy is that big of a deal?
If you're driving 100 miles each day, the camry is your best bet. As much as I like Cadillacs, that Seville won't be able to take that much punishment for as long as the Camry will, and the camry is much more reliable.
>>14002274
The Seville is a terrible car, and I would advise against it. Not sure what the market you're in is like, but check out if e30s are reasonable. They would be a very nice middle ground for you with more luxury and aesthetics than a camry and better gas mileage than a Seville (from the experiences of my friends). They can usually be found for around $2000 where I am, but some markets have seen them jump in price recently. They are very durable cars and easy to work on, but they will bleed you dry if you pay a shop to fix/maintain it for you.
If you like the K body series, consider the Buick and Pontiac's with the 2.5 liter, which did a modest high 20's on the highway.
The truth though is that those body style cars have COMPLETELY devalued and are all worth less than $2K. There are newer more efficient cars in that price range.
I grew up in a Delta 88 that looked just like your picture. It was a roomy car, but nothing special. You can do a lot better. Look into the late 90's STS or Eldorado if you're going to buy a 4.9 equipped K.

Are car meets allowed in yurop? I'd think sharia law would forbid that kind of stuff, what with the secular music and all.
are dogboxes expensive?
>>14002079
More than a catbox I would imagine. Good luck getting him/her to use it.
>>14002079
Relatively, transmissions nearly the most expensive part of the car and a dog box is pretty far from typical.
That and pretty much ever setup has to be custom made, you'd be in it for probably around 5k for the transmission alone.

are there any kits for beemers?
Face it guys, half of the threads on this board are dedicated to this topic, driving pleasure is dying off and were being propelled into a dark age
How do you plan to preserve your rwd naturally aspirated shitboxes until time takes the last of them away?
i hate it when people fucking act like you OP
RWD cars will go extinct long after you are dead, and despite the recent increase in hybrids and electric technology, all of us will continue to drive gas powered vehicles for the next 100 years
calm the fuck down, dude

>Mitsubishi discontinues the evos for crossovers
>Nissan claims that the Z models have been crossovers all along
>BMW makes fwd eco cars

I don't even like reading auto related news anymore, its just all bad feels, sure there's companies like ford and mazda who are preserving it, but we all know it wont last.

hey /o/ i was looking for advice on exhaust systems. i currently have a 2015 kia forte 5 with a 2.0 and i just want to enjoy driving it a bit more as my daily. so how could i make my exhaust louder but not obnoxious. ive looked into it a little and from what ive seen mufflers just make em raspy and loud but i read that length can make it much smoother. so does anyone have proof of this or atleast can some one explain how that would work. i love the sound of the car but its so damn quiet. any and all help is appreciated.
i was told 2-3 inches would make an audible difference so what would a foot and a half do or is that to much
im off to bed feel free to talk about it when im away ill take any and all advice
Buy a catback or have an exhaust shop make you one.

Any mechanics that know BMW e46's? Idling really rough, low on power, pic related
isn't that almost always due to misfire? and if so, you'd have to check out your air, fuel and spark delivery to see if anything's wrong yes?
>>14001946
Not an expert on E46, but my grandpa has one and also has rough idling. As suggested by a friendly mechanic, we opened the gas tank for a few hours. Next time, the idling went to normal.
However, this was a mild case. It might be something else.
check your fuel, ignition and timing
http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/2018-subaru-wrx-sti-news-specs-performance-hybrid/
>A report coming out of Australia indicates Subaru will join the ranks of automakers that are turning to electrification in a bid to boost both performance and efficiency when it hits the reset button on its WRX STI flagship.
>Subaru hasn’t decided how far it will push the hybrid envelope. The electric motor could simply help the flat-four spin all four wheels, or it could be mounted at the rear of the car in order to spin the rear wheels by itself. Regardless, the drivetrain will use a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it will be tuned to generate approximately 321 horsepower, a roughly 20-pony increase over the current model. Whether an enthusiast-approved manual transmission will be offered is up in the air at this point.
When will it end?
Why can't they just kill them off and start a new model instead of butchering the name like this.
It's like hollywood just rehashing shit for the new "progressive" audience

Porsche to take all-electric Mission E concept to production, Tesla BTFO?
Porsche's production confirmation restates those power and acceleration specs, along with the 500+ km (311+ mile) range and accompanying 800-volt charging system that Porsche says can bring the floor-integrated lithium-ion battery up to 80 percent in 15 minutes. Porsche also reiterates the concept car's wireless charging capabilities.
Mission E concept was powered by a pair of permanent magnet synchronous motors teaming up for about 590 hp (440 kW). That power number and the acceleration estimate of 3.5 seconds for the 0-62 mph (100 km/h)

Porsche are a bunch of lying stupid cunts, then.
