nope been in love with my mr2 ever since i got her
Nope. Getting behind a v8 rwd car with a landing strip for a hood everyday is a pretty good feeling.
Is there going to be an 2016 Civic Si?
>>14009346
yes. the last time i read up on it there was still a tossup between keeping the NA engine or using a turbo'd engine. i think they also might be offering both engines depending on trim level you get
Will they put a turbo in the new Si if the Type-R also has a turbo?
>>14011386
No, it might kill the corvette.
Hi /o/, newfag here.
I'm thinking of buying a cheap old sports car to have fun and learn how to into cars with, what kind of car should I get?
I know basically nothing about cars, but I'm thinking maybe a Supra, a Skyline or an MX-5 because they're all pretty cheap and I think they're cute.
I want something which isn't too beat up to be unusable, but which isn't so good that I won't learn anything about mechanics from fixing it.
Then you're going to need to figure out which parts are easier to come by. Out of your list, I'd say the Supra because Toyota parts gotta be cheaper and easier to come across.
>>14009323
They're less common than MX-5s and Skylines though.
But I honestly have never bought a single auto part, so I wouldn't know what makes them cheap or not.
>>14009319
>Supra
>cheap
lolno, anything that hasn't been ricefucked to shit with a clean title is going to run you 25k+
>Skyline
>cheap
15k+, every skyline in the US is grey market import, and that shit cost money
>MX-5
its just a fucking miata
and yes you can go buy one, a new miata is going to be the same price as a 15 year old supra or a 20 year old skyline
>he thinks you need 300+ horsepower to have fun
Depends on how much the car weighs 200hp in a 300lb car is different from 200 hp in a 5000 lb car.
>he thinks you cant DD your project
>>14009255
>He thinks you can have fun with less than 300hp
Have fun with your civic, faggot.
Okay so this is gonna sound heretical.
I'm looking at used Skyline HCR32's in Canada to import into the states.
And I'm wondering if I'd be better off getting an automatic gearbox over a manual, for both ease of cruising and maintanence.
I'm not looking to slam it, or track it, or hectic drift it (okay maybe a couple hectic drifts). But I'd think an automatic would let me focus on the driving aspect, as well as dissuade me from tryna do stupid shit in a rare car. Plus, would it have a longer/better lifespan over the manual?
I can drive stick (i'm admittedly rusty, but not incapable.), but i dunno. Plus I'm seeing automatics that are much cheaper than the sticks.
Thoughts?
If you actually can't focus on driving when driving manual you shouldn't be driving and should have your brain function checked.
>getting a sports car in automatic
>why
>why
>inb4 getting any car in automatic
plain pleb teir DD cars in manual are annoying unless you're a povo cunt and can only afford one car

>HCR32
>automatic for ease of cruising and maintanence
>rare car
0/10
Too obvious
So, how would I go about converting a CVT to a 6-speed manual?
>tfw no nismo sentra
feels bad man
>>14008994
can still get some shit for it from the spare parts bin at nismo.
know anything about converting a CVT to manual?
Buying the manual version of the car.

Count me in Anon, always wanted to die in a firetruck driven by a stranger I met online. Can we get some pizzahut first though? I want the bitches cleaning up the scene to never want to eat pizzahut again, not that I personally hate pizzahut or their business practices but I just really enjoy pizzahut, and if im dead who cares if im helping them go out of business because of what those poor bastards would see at the accident scene. Hell ill even buy pizzahut for all you guys, stuffed crust and all. I hope we can be friends before we all die.

As long as eurobeats playing and we're sliding it around every corner we can.
I just want to lap the Nordschleife in a Miata man...
>>14008840
You're in luck - miata men are gay, so you'll have no trouble finding one to hop inside while you do your lap.
>>14008840
Funny you say that, I literally just drove a Miata around the Nordschleife in Forza 5 ten minutes ago.

First car shopping time
I really like the 98-03 5 series, and I'm leaning towards the 540i M Sport version because I want to put a nice growly exhaust on it, and have it be a nice stealthy cruiser car. Angel halo headlights, repaint it black, or wrap it glossy black or maybe satin white, and just some nice maybe deep dish rims and lower it, but not stance it or anything like that.
I will be driving it maybe 1 hour per day, 3-4 times a week just to university and back, and I won't be pushing it or anything often unless I'm at a car meet or something like that.
Can you guys tell me your experiences with them? I don't mind paying for maintenance, and my budget is around $10,000 - $2,000 for tax and licensing, so like $8,000 Canadian
Are they good daily drivers, what about winter driving? I'll put some bridgestone Blizzaks or the Nokien Hakkapelittas on it for sure, I know cars have maintenance fees and I'm prepared to pay for them. If I keep everything working properly, take it in for 3-4 month checkups with the mechanic, and keep all service up to date, what are the major problems it could give me? The ones I'm looking at are in good shape, not much rust, and around 200,000 kilometers, or like 125,000 miles. There are some that are only 160,000 kilometers, but they're around $2,000 more, and is it worth paying the extra $2,000 for them, or are they all basically high mileage and will give similar problems from now on? There are some that are selling with 400,000 kilometers as well, so it leads me to believe these things are bulletproof if maintained well.
Good car, maintenance will cost around $1500 a year at that mileage, and fuel will be not cheap, but since you're driving mostly highway I assume you won't be that hurt, also very fun car, good luck, get the lowest mileage one possible, and take care of it, it'll be worth a lot someday!
Look for one that's already had the cooling system redone. Check for rust around the jack points. Ask if the VANOS has been rebuilt yet- it's not gonna stop the car from running but you gain a lot of power if the seals are in good shape. Use it as bargaining power if it hasn't been done and do it first thing when you get it. If you can do basic shit yourself, you'll save a lot of money on maintenance. Most of the things that will need to be done on it are simple and take 1-2 hours. Even if you have somebody else do your work i don't think the maintenance would ever get to $1500 unless you're going to a dealership for everything.
>$2000 for tax and licensing
fug
I paid USD $25 tax and $150 to license my 530i
>>14008829
530i's are nice too, you know. Classic inline 6 smoothness, and probably less maintenance on the enigne.

Village Idiot I thought you weren't a shitposter.
Anyway not entirely surprised, the FA20 was a new engine and needed some kinks worked out, as well as some bits on the rest of the car like the tail light seals.

I was waiting for the ST thread to die before posting this.
Post up your beautiful, performance Ford's.

Gt sounds like crap. 350r sounds heavenly but its only real rival is the camaro who is basically a gen behind but shows mass improvements, so we will see what happens with that battle. Gt still sounds like you took a nice v6 and put a fartcan on it

So my boy threw on a throttle body and plenum from a 04 5.8 f150 on his 02 mustang gt. Like that's badass. And his throttle response is actually faster. I know I can use the gt40 heads and intake from an explorer, but are there any other cars I can take parts off of to use on my 92 5.0? I'm trying to gain a little bit more power on a budget
He gets the minor advantage of every single Ford vehicle having a modular. I don't think a 302 will have the same luxury. A larger MAF sensor supposedly increases performance too.
>>14008739
Not much really, but those alone will help alot. Get the heads ported would help a bit but would be kinda expensive for not a ton of gain.
Honestly aftermarket parts are so cheap for 5.0 foxbodies you might as well buy new parts with the exception of the GT40 heads and intake
