What's this for, MOTs?
Stancefags will just throw on a normal set of wheels for the test and then instantly turn it back into a stancemobile.

Was losing coolant and temperature gauge has been slowly going up over the past three months.

After watching the radiator for a while I found out the fluid is coming from the top hose and so I replaced it yesterday with a new hose and a new clamp.

I saw no fluid for about thirty minutes and called it good but while running errands today I watched the temp gauge go back up to 3/4 which is a no no for me.

I have no idea how the fluid is getting out from the same area considering I
Put a new hose on
Put a new clamp on
Put sealer on the area before the flare valve.

Picture shows how much came out in only fifteen minutes of driving.

I'm just not sure what else I can do to this?

Looks like you have already repaired the upper hose bipple before. Go to Autozone and ask for the Coolant pressure test kit to rent. Select the right adapter, screw onto rad cap hole and pump to the pressure rated on your cap. You will instantly find your leak.
>>
>>14049499
The coolant is coming from the hose area you can see some in the 2nd picture.

How is the fluid getting past the flare, clamp, sealer?

I'm not sure what doing the pressure test will show since I know where the leak is?

What are some reliable trucks in the $5K to $7,500 range?

Looking for a truck mostly to haul shit and tow my little 18' boat. Could possibly deal with a V4 or V6 to be easier on gas as it would also be my DD.

Should I only stick to American brands? I've always had the impression that Japan/Europe makes shit trucks.

My daily driver is an older model Tahoe
Its still got stock everything including 5.3 liter vortec V6,
Its got 300,000 miles now and hasn't needed any real work except for when a faggot smart car smacked it while parked, I needed a new bumper
>he died
It handles small boats well, and can be found cheap
>>
Whatever you do, forget about Rangers. As reliable as they are, their tow rating has always been complete garbage. As for mid size trucks the Tacoma has always had a decent capacity, even back in the 90s it already towed 3500-5000 lbs. You can get a Colorado younger than ten years old for this little money, but its tow capacity depends heavily on the model and can be as low as 2000 lbs and as high as 6000 lbs.

Other than those it's safer to look at older full size trucks in terms of towing, though of course those will have worse mileage, become lethargic with anything less than a V8 and are less convenient to daily drive. The first gen Tundra wasn't quite full size and might be worth a look.

The serenity of driving through the country everything covered in a fluffy blanket of snow, white and pure. Heater on full foot-defrost, hot coffee in a travel mug, heated seats on low favorite music playing softly while you and your loved one make small talk and banter pausing to point out homes with nice decorations.

Rclb 2wd the configuration of work

I'm picking up my Toyota 86 soon. While researching the car, I found a company called Sprintex that made a bolt-on Supercharger kit for it, and I also found a mechanic workshop within two hours of me that can source and fit it, along with providing an ECU remap.

I spoke to my dad about it, who's an ex-mechanic of 35 years, and he basically said it was a stupid idea, trying to bolt a supercharger onto an engine that doesn't support it, and said that over time, a ton of issues would pop up, including, in no particular order, diff, clutch, gearbox and the engine bottom. I raised what my dad said with the mechanic, and he said they make sure the PSI boost is kept in 'safe' ranges, usually 8-10PSI for a supercharger.

What are your thoughts on this? I want to stress that I'm not going to jump right in the day after I pick up the car. I'll be happy driving it stock for a few years, and if I feel like a need a bit more at the end of that, I may consider it.

Pls no hate, I'm not a mega-car guy.

4-6psi is a safer bet, and have a tuning shop to a professional tune

The transmission and diff can all take more power safely, and it just sounds like you want a bit more punch in a car that sorely deserves it.
>>
>>14046965
That's what I thought. The shop quoted me near-on $7 grand AUD, which was for sourcing the part, labour to install it, and an ECUTEK re-map and Dyno tune. If I DO end up going for it, I will of course be getting all of that done. The mechanics have done a ton of these in the past and apparently haven't had any issues.

Do you think the 8-10 that they said would be pushing it, or that it's just better to be safe than sorry?

I've decided on getting an S2000.
I've got $11k to spend on one that has around 90k miles on it. Currently 19 and live in a big city (San Francisco).

I've never really worked on cars myself before.

Am I gonna get fucked?

thats as good of a car as you can get for 11k
>>
>>14046687
What about the 350z?

That was going to be my second choice.
>>
I don't own an s2k but there is no reason you should be fucked, just do a lot of research and start doing little things yourself.

Is it cheaper to maintain your own car instead of having an independent mechanic do it for you? It's obviously cheaper monetarily, but is the time investment worth the money saved?

>>
Regular maintenance takes minutes. So yes.
>>
>>14046580
If you know what you're doing, i.e. you're a mechanic, then yes.

If you know a little bit but have to watch YT videos and read blog post tutorials, you can save some money doing small things like oil changes, hose changes, and so on, but for big stuff like rebuilding engines or trannies, I'd say that you should take it to a shop where the job will (most of the time) be done right.

If you have lots of time, see if your local high school has a shop class, or more likely, a Vo-Tech school.

You only pay for materials, labor is part of the classes.

The downside: A bunch of high school kids messing with yoru car.
