Am I absolutely retarded for wanting to buy a 240z and restomod it and then put a viper crate engine in it?
I want this so much.
As long as you dont make it look ugly as sin, mate.
>>14060658
This isn't forza, a restomod and "put in" a viper crate engine isn't just the push of a button.
>>14060668
I'm perfectly aware of all the things I have to do it "put in" the engine. Did I trigger your autism or something by using a widely accepted term?
also forza is shit
Be honest /o/, would there have been a market for the BMW M8?
>expensive european car
yes
>>14060255
??????
This didn't come out? There is one for sale on local CL right now
>>14060265
It's probably a regular 8-series. Links?
How is the 350Z as a DD if you only need 2 seats?
Can I just say that I hate equally the RWD obsessed trolls who shit on every Honda and the Civic Type R benchracers.
>>14060053
My mom had one
Its ride is rough and the seats aren't comfy. You'll really notice the lack of torque and ricers will constantly try to race you. Also don't be a retard and get a convertible because it leaks (like every other convertible my mother insist on getting)
>>14060086
Definitely not getting a vert, I live in Canada and can only afford 1.
Most cars I'm looking at are probably going to get me revved at so I'm not too bothered by that.
You do anything fun today /o/?
>>14059932
>Everyday_until_you_like_it.jpg
Drove a 430 Challenge car around a bit, mostly fun until I found out the steering angle is really shallow at full lock so you can't do normal U turns and parking
>>14059926
My wife got a flat today
Mechanic said I needed to replace all 4 since her car is AWD
Its a brand new car/tires. Less than 20k mileage
How full of shit is this guy?
Or how stupid am i?
Pretty stupid, unless all of her tyres look like racing slicks.
>>14059731
You're probably good replacing one. The only reason I can think of replacing all four at once is so the uneven replacement times don't get out of hand and you eventually have tires with all different levels of wear being driven on at the same time.
Patch the tire. Though he's not bullshitting about a full replacement on an AWD. Having different treads will fuck the differentials
Just finished initial D and was wondering if /o/ can recommend any anime, comics, manga, movies, shows, or webcomics about racing.
there arent any
well there arent any that are good

Capeta.
Hey /o/, I'm looking to buy a 1999 Audi B4 Avant. Does anyone have any experience with these cars? I'm in love with the German wagons. So the one I've found is well maintained, but I'm concerned with maintenance costs in the future. Any tips/experience would be nice
Look up parts that commonly fail on those models and, since that's a 20+ year old car, see what the mileage is like, and decide whether the engine still has a lot of miles left in it. Unless you're willing to do a swap.
Let me tell you a story. Not going to greentext because I'm on my phone.
After driving a shitheap 93 cavalier, I wanted something fancier. Not necessarily fast, just more luxurious then that pile. I was in your same position, what could go wrong?
Thanks to the blunder that was cash for clunkers, the used car market was garbage.
But, I found a 99' A4 Quattro, "well maintained"
There were a few scratches and the airbag light was on, but nothing else seemed amiss, and it was rust free.
The first year it ran great, then all hell broke loose afterward.
One day it wouldn't start. VW dealer looked at it, said it was a bad starter.
They would have charged $700.
Did some shit myself and said fuck it.
Later on, the transmission decided to randomly go into limp mode. Water leaked into the connector and fucked shit up. Fixed it I guess.
Shitty pneumatic locks all quit working. Windows stopped working as well.
Blew out a turbo, and then later on everything just died, would not turn over. Upon further inspection, as in , taking the entire fucking front of the car off, the serpentine belt shredded, worked its way behind the front engine cover, and then fucked up the timing belt. Belt vales galore
Top end rebuild- 800$ at a specialty shop, misc parts to replace a bunch of stuff for the timing belt was another 200.
I get the valves back, put everything back together, violent shaking. cont
>>14060176
Turns out the shop didn't align the top end right so it was out of time. They paid for another guy I trust to take it all apart and adjust.
I get the car back, its still running like shit, misfiring likely do to a vacuum leak somewhere. There are a billion fucking lines.
For shits and giggles I unplugged the MAF and it runs better.
tl;dr while the AWD is amazing, the audi's are shit meme is true and I was a diehard fanboy.
AVOID
I know /o/ is full of diverse opinions, so please help me out. Seeking some sound advice.
I have a 2010 Maxima SV Sport with a little over 42K. KBB rates her @ about $13.3k trade-in value.
I've wanted a STI for a long while. Yes I admit to being a fan of the fast n furious and my dream car is a Skyline/GTR.
I want a quick car, RWD is always a plus, I love the idea of the turbo and I hear Subaru are among some models that don't see the inside of the shop must.
Browsing /o/ I see ppl are pointing out head gasket problems and gear-box issues.
Should I stick with what I want or what should I consider. I'm not rich and a car note is fine with a warranty
get the wrx instead
>>14059343
Ok, if you're a fan of fast then have a listen.
>r32/33 GTR.
Yes, it's old now. But i own a 33 with a 34 nur engine in it and i've had more fun in this car in the month i've had it than in my 35 GTR.
There's something about them m8, they are so fucking fast when turbos kick in and fun to tune and more importantly, indestructible.
Unless you're putting in 40psi, you won't blow the engine.
The only problem you will encounter is oiling problems which can be fixed by either...
>Getting a 33 over a 32 (the 32 is lighter and thus faster but also an older shell and comes with more oil problems)
>If you get the 33 you can go aftermarket and replace the oil pump/lines for aftermarket ones, no more problems unless you're literally trying to drift it while redlining it (and if you're doing that, oil is the least of your problems, the turbos will put you in a wall).
Now let's talk cost. Here in straya a stock one, unmodded is about 20k. 30k if you want one already modded.
You want a pre-purchase inspection which is a couple hundred bucks, just to make sure it's worth buying. Get a trusted mechanic with good review to do this. If it comes up clean, go for it.
After that, expect a bit of general maintenance just because it's old, replacing the old parts with new ones. 5k Extra for that, you might not even need it.
So you're looking at 35k max, but you'll most likely spend like 24 if you're patient and smart to find the right one.
And there's not a single day i don't love this car. And it has AWD.
Subarus not seeing the inside of a shop?
They almost live there.
show me some frame flex
>inb4 all Fords
>you will never rally
>you will never rally your DD
>you will never be the Takumi of rally
>you will always own an FF shitbox
>you will always have no skill
>wanting to rally your DD
>not owning a seperate car for DDing and a 2nd for rally

Took a promotion and paid off the last of my debt, so I am buying a V8 Chevy, question is: >Roadster, Coupe or Sedan?
>>2017 Chevy SS
>Most likely one of last year's if not last
>Future cult classic like the Pontiac G8
> 400+ HP LS3 w/ 6-speed, 4-doors, and room for 5.
>Sleeper status, comfy AF, near luxury
>>2017 Chevy Camaro
>Waiting until 2nd model year for kinks to be worked out
> 450HP LT1 w/ 6-speed or 8-speed paddles, backseat and big boot
>Runs mid-10s with 150shot w/ DRs, high-11s all stock w/ DRs
>>2017 Chevy Corvette
>Hopefully the 4th year model will get a refresh
> 450HP LT1 w/ 7-speed or 8-speed paddles
>Muh racecar, exotic look
I will probly put enough down to cover the immediate value-drop from leaving the lot, finance the rest. What does /o/ think?
Pic related, the 6th gen is as fast as the Z28, ZL1, C6, or C5Z with tires, faster than a C6Z or ZR1 with NOS.
>v8 chevy
sorry to hear
>>14058893
LT1 Vettes like to explode and the Corvette engineers aren't very good with the idea of keeping it cool
Camaro's are yet to be seen, give it some time to see how the LT1's hold up in those cars
The LS3 powerplant is rock solid, an LS3 owner myself, and many others abuse the shit out of that engine with zero problems. I'd narrow it down to the Chevy G8 or the Alpha Camaro. The new G8 is such a nice car to sit in, I haven't gotten the chance to sit in a new Alpha Camaro yet.
>>14058901
Doesn't one of those have 50HP more than the other? Kind of a small performance gap. Also, the cars I'm looking at are 15-40k less than a 350R or Z28
how does it feel knowing i could smoke you in my watermelon rx?
Ooga booga, booga muh dik bix nood mofugga shiiiiieeeeeeet
>>14058753
Sorry I don't drive a miata.
I could smoke the fuck out of this in my 1994 EG hatch with a couple of simple mods.
some days ago senpai, not only the Focus but Fords as a whole
desu i kinda miss the inline 5
>>14058686
we have EcoBoostâ„¢ now though
never did
>His engine displacement is less than 5 litres
>>14058238
>He drives a Corvette
unless you have a 10 cylinder it should be
optimum displacement in liters is half the cylinders
>tfw bought an ecoboost mustang
>tfw it's pretty fast, but wish it was faster
>tfw looking at a $2000 list of tuning related parts to put my performance in a range similar to a stock GT
>tfw should've just coughed up the money for the GT
>tfw would've kept the factory warranty and not had extra engine stress
i don't even care about my 5% weight reduction for having an I4
slap a bigger snail on it and a boost controller
Wait a little while dude, the Ecoboost Mustang is a relatively new car, so there isn't a whole lot of established aftermarket support for it yet. Give it time, all that shit will come down.
