Post em.

VQ35
-Reliable. My Uncle's got one in an 05 G35 coupe and he is the worst car owner ever, barely does any maintenance and he's had it for 10 years since new, still runs.
-Sound. It's quite the nastiest little V6 I've ever heard, even on an a stock altima it sounds good.
-High ass compression made VQ35 really powerful for the time, considering its displacement.

Cant have a V6 thread without one of these.

>Reliable
>Powerful
>Good fuel economy
>is what made the GNX the GNX

Actually wanted to swap one in my car but i don't know if that's possible (W-body)

unfortunately that's the only V6 i know enough about to confidently post.
>>
>>14061972
I bet the supercharger whine sounds awesome over that V6, My mom almost bought a cobalt SS back in 07, but we needed a sedan.
>>

>Godly
>V6
Does not compute.

VQ35 is heavy and wide. Like, as big as an LS (if not bigger), with way less output.

3800 a shit.

Also, yes, the W-body came with Buick V6's from the factory, so swapping them in should be possible.

Does /o/ read motorism-related literature to better themselves as drivers, be it for track days, vidya, general DD, or just for plain enjoyment or better understanding of the workings of a car?
What are some books you would recommend?
Car mags and repair/maintenance manuals and biographies/historical also welcome.

Read Driving on the edge by Michael Krum, wasnt THAT much of an eye opener, but would recommend as a present for a gearhead you know. Currently going through Ross Bentleys Speed secrets and it is much more in-depth with more and better examples, defo recommended and well worth the value IMO.

I believe that driving is something best learned on your own. I could talk to someone all day about racing theory but in reality the only thing making them better is themselves and seat time.
>>
>>14061722
While it's completely possible for someone to just drive until they are amazing at it, knowing a little bit about the physics behind it gives you a massive edge when you're learning.
>>
>>14061722
I agree somewhat, natural talent and balls can't be learned. And to an extent race craft can't be learned as it becomes intuition with experience.

But, I think we underestimate how little the typical person knows about performance driving.
Even just line selection.. using the whole track.. fast in slow out.. being smooth.. things that are ingrained in you from age 5 as a karter or whatever are completely foreign to normal people.

So, I think a book could be beneficial. Just like an instructor is. But you have to practice what they teach. You can't just read it and go do it.

I was thinking that too

How much does one have to make to afford one of these?

I make $38k/year, have $16k in cash and live with my mom. Expenses are very minimal. I drive my first car still and really fucking badly want one. My dealer can order me the 5.0 I want for about $34,000 OTD.

That includes the performance pack, recaro seats and a CO paint. Should I bother thinking about the premium model btw? It's an extra $7,000~ for all the other options such as heated seats, fancier radio etc

so the plastic housing that held up my fuel hoses got ripped away or fell off. I ziptied them back to the remaining hardware and it's holding well but i'd like something better to protect them. Short of fabricating my own housing (what i will probably end up doing when it's not rainy) does anybody have any tips?

I have an exhaust leak and my dad has a coupon for Meineke. Should I bring it there?

>>
Sure, you're gonna get hosed anywhere. Why not let meinike talk you into a complete system?
>>
>>14068661
Haha, I know, that's why I'm asking you fucktards. <3

But seriously. I don't even know how bad the leak is because I haven't had a chance to get under it. My dad is a dumbass boomer who thinks a corporate coupon does anything. My baby-boomer's-baby-brother mechanic friend from work can probably look at it this weekend, maybe. Fumes are coming in my cabin sometimes, and sometimes the exhaust pops in second gear when I let off the throttle. I will have to pay my dad back for the repairs. I feel like I'm answering my own question. Fuck corporate shops.

Thoughts?
>>
>>14068677
Take it to a specialty shop, an shop that's focused on exhaust work. less likely for them to fuck with your car.

thats only the driver titles

From the article
Also of note in 2015 was Corvette Racing’s three endurance race wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Chevy also took the manufacturer’s championship in IMSA’s Prototype class while Chevy drivers Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi nabbed the driver’s championship. Elsewhere on the road course the Camaro Z/28.R was enjoying success, winning its first-ever championship in the IMSA Grand Sport class and taking Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell to a driver’s championship win.

Only if you discount all the cars from manufactures who were trying like Audi, Porsche, Toyota winning in the minor leagues is like coming top of your class in "special" school.

How can I make my car handle high revs for longer? Not to rev harder or increase power or anything, just want my DD to be reliable if I rev it hard through some S-Bends, without damaging the engine

Landcruisers and their Lexus counterparts are expensive af, 4 Runners are all beat to shit.

My only choices are the Rav 4 or the CRV.

Both made in Japan and asre very cheap where I am, I'd like to use it to carry some tools, camping gear, and for road trips across the country.

If you've owned either one, tell me about it!

I also considered Caldinas and Subbie wagons but I need something "bigger" that I can fall asleep in.

Their weak engines are really offputting though, same with anything in its class.
