Mini seems well past expiration. There was a huge amount of excitement when it came back, but there's really no way to evolve a retro design. I really don't see how they go forward: they have so many "models" that all look the same, and nobody seems to buy any of them.

That poor V6 got 14mpg, had a rear main seal leak, weak fuel pump, smelly A/C and forgot to shift to 4th half the time. Was a lifesaver when I had nowhere to sleep, put the seats down and crashed in the trunk.

The B8 A4 is one of the A4s with the least problems. I don't know what engine you're looking at, I've only owned the 2.0tdi. But I've owned two of them, and neither has had any major flaws. Maintainence is as with any car, you change oil and all the filters every 18k miles or so, and if you get a quattro you'll have to replace the oil for the awd system too (atleast if its haldex based) Timing belt has to be changed at 120k miles or so, or when the car is 7 years old.

Anyways OP, im happy to see you're considering an A4 wagon. A4 sedans look like shit and have a droopy butt compared.

Obviously not. I mean, the car was assembled in the first place and not every car is optioned the same. You just need to figure out what connects to what.

That said, you are likely to run into a situation where the radio/nav is part of the car's network and it not reporting ready can cause all sorts of issues from a measly Check Engine light to the car not running at all. This sort of thing can usually be corrected with a reflash of the PCM with updated parameters but you have to have the equipment to do it with first.
