I am looking at buying a new car next month. I have a 350z Nismo, 3 240sx, a ek hatch with a built h22 to a b series tranny. I won't to step up my car game, I have spent the last 6 months building cars in my head. I have got the list down to a few and wanted some input, on ease of builds, how cool the car is, handling and "smiles per gallon", would like to end up in the 400ish hp range and a total of 25k spent for the car and mods

Alright, /o/. I drive a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado. It's the most comfortable car I've ever driven, but it's plagued by the problems common to Northstar engines, and will eventually shit its head cylinder if I keep driving it. I really like the car, and I can replace the engine with a Jasper; I've heard nothing but good things about Jasper engines, and it will make my car a reliable DD. The cost of the engine, labor, associated parts, rebuilt transmission (because if I'm going to pay for all that labor to replace the engine, might as fucking well), will be about $10,000. I talked with my bank, and I qualified for a loan of $8,000. I'll have to sock away money to make up the difference, and hope nothing else expensive happens to the car in the meantime
So what I need from you guys is to talk me out of this crazy bullshit, and convince me to ditch this fucking money pit of a car.

how do these little tuners work? The way i understand it is you upload a "map" to the ecu that changes the internal lookup tables to make the engine behave a certain way. my question is mostly in relation to bolt on mods. how does the little tuner know what mods my car has? if i put a catless downpipe in my car, i'd need a new map, right? is there some database that has a ton of possible combinations of parts your car might have?
for example, could i just go online and download a "ecoboost mustang with upgraded intercooler and catless downpipe" map? are they user created?
or do these things really only work for nonmodified cars? or are they good enough that they can somehow tell what your car has modified?

No, they usually just map stock cars. Sometimes they'll make things called "stage 1,2,3" and each one has a kit that you bolt on, sometimes they'll request that you send in your stock ECU so they can add the map that goes along with the mods in the bolt on kit.

If you've got the balls for it, sure, you can probably outrun a cop. But if they are really feeling up to it, they can get you. Is it really worth going to prison for a speeding ticket? If you're at the point where you have so many speeding tickets that you're gonna get your license taken away, you're probably an idiot anyway and don't deserve to be riding. At most you should be going 10-15 above speed limit in certain zones, which doesn't really warrant a huge fine unless it's in a school or construction zone, where you should be doing the speed limit because its actually there for protection of others, and not just your dumbass self.
