I'm about to be singing off on a new ND Mx-5. Just need to choose the trim, but I've run into a bit of a dilemma.

Do I get the club spec and just change the springs over the Bilstein dampers for $300-500 or get the sport and part out the suspension to get a set of full coilovers $3K- oem suspension return. Currently looking at getting the Integral Kobe Type-S set.

Am I crazy or is this doable? Is the peformance increase worth it over just getting new springs?

Hey guys, I'm just a bit annoyed by this 4 vs 6 debate. Because the answer is obvious. Isn't it?

For example: I have a clone and his name is Mike
>Mike buys a base 4 cylinder Toyota Camry
>I buy a base V6 Toyota Camry

We drive the cars in the exact same way with impeccable maintenance records because we are the same.

>Mine lasts longer.
>Mike is mad.

In terms of longevity 6 cylinders are better.

V8s are more reliable than both though.

Also, Ford>Toyota.
>>
>>14171678
Depends. I guess you could argue that, being driven the exact same way, the 6cyl is stressed much less than the 4cyl. While the 4cyl is using 80% of it's potential on a daily basis, the 6cyl is only running at like 50% most of the time.

It all totally depends on the engine, maintenance, and everything else. Can't say anything for sure.

But some 5.7L LS V8 pushing out 300HP will probably have a much easier time making it to 300k miles than a 2.0L turbocharged I4 making similar power.

Oh yes.

Hey guys,
I am looking to invest in an "okay" or "good" tool set. I want to pay around $70. Just looking for something basic. I just got a Ford Explorer sports trac that I want to work on.
What are good brands and what should I be looking for in a set?

Thanks

$70 isn't a lot of money for tools. But for that, I would keep an eye out for a sale on a Craftsman ratchet set. Or Kobalt from Lowes.

If you get a decent ratchet set, just buy the rest as you need it.

And as far as sockets, I would look for deep 6pt sockets. 3/8" drive should get you through most, but a 1/4" with some bigger sockets will help when you really need to use force.

You're also going to want some Torx and Hex bits for sure. And a big C-clamp for brakes. Pliers are worth their weight in gold as well.
>>
>>14171513
Set aside $150 for a decent jack and stands from Harbor Freight. That is real important if you don't want to die. Especially since you are working on an SUV.

And testing lights are real cheap and a great tool for electrical stuff.

What is the most American brand to buy from?

>Assembly and where the parts are from.

I had a guy from work telling me that Toyota is the most 'murican car manufacturer. He also went on to include that the location of the gas tank relates to foreign or domestic. Any truth in that?

>>
>>14171351
I used to work for a GM supplier, I never touched an american made part.
>>
>>14171351
Yes, as far as US sourced parts are concerned I believe it's the Avalon that's the most 'Murrican vehicle.

stupid bong question here.

whats the difference between dodge charger and challenger, apart from one being a coupe and looking retro.

are they both considered muscle cars? pony cars?

which is cheaper in general spec.
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>14170968
Charger is slightly longer and 4 doors. They are the last muscle cars, being too large and heavy to be considered pony cars. Theyre close enough in cost that it comes down to personal preference.
>>
>>14170982
thanks is a pony car not a muscle car then?

are camaros and mustangs pony cars thus but not muscle cars?
>>
>>14170987
Pony cars are the smaller, lighter subset of muscle cars.

hmm, maybe use penetrating oil and a torch on it?
but you might warp the head that way.

Okay so i accelerated and braked on my bike by accident at the same time and now the wheel wobbles. The bar that is circled used to be attached down where the arrow is pointing but the bolt snapped and now i need to fix it. The bar itself itself is bent now and i need a new one.

Problem is i dunno what its called...

Can anyone here tell me what it is so I can buy a replacement?
