Do 2000s rangers count as minitrucks?
>steering wheel detaches
what do?
>>14198578
put it back
Why would my steering wheel detach. My car is worth more than $200
>>14198578
Stop steering
MEL and 385's welcome.

>>14198601
429 ci, 360 gross horsepower 11 years later.
>>14198601
so like 200 horsepower by today's measurements.
Hey, /o/, I'm thinking of buying pic related, a 1997 BMW m3 with 205k miles, and 5000$. Anything I should know?
>>14198546
Is this your first car?
>>14198546
That's a lot of miles. I wouldn't dare touch a car with that mileage.
>>14198558
No, it'd be my third, and I still have my Yukon as a daily.
o I don't get it. What is the purpose of the trend towards larger wheels on small lightweight cars made for acceleration and not top end speed (like the ND)?
Pros for bigger wheels on samll lightweight cars:
>looks (opinion)
>better tire selection (being shilled by more popular heavy ass can't turns)
>cheaper to produce than smaller WIDER wheels with similar tire widths /205-225/ and aspect ratio /45/ (fine)
>big brake kits (really?? Just buy better pads and maybe pistons/rotors)
>better top end (don't need it)
>quicker to stop because wheels are heavier (making the car heavier? Again better pads or pistons)
Cons:
>WAY slower acceleration
>WAY slower to steering inputs, especially countersteer
>WAY less grip at lower speeds/transitions (treads are optimized for higher speeds on larger wheels)
>Heavier, more unsprung weight
>More rotational mass (means need more power to rotate even if lighter)
>Cost more of everything $$
Why o why o
>tfw want an ND on 15s, hot damn
>quicker to stop because wheels are heavier (making the car heavier? Again better pads or pistons)
No, that's backwards. Heavier wheels = much slower to stop. It's one of the biggest things that affects your stopping distance actually.
>>14198543
>the trend
what
are you talking about stanced show cars?
are you talking about normies that just buy any wheels they like?
did you literally just start a thread to sperg over others personal preferences?
how could you care
sort you are life out OP

Hey br/o/s I have a 1990 Miata with serious engine issues, so rather than keep pumping money into the old girl, I've decided I'm gonna use another car for a while and save up for a new engine in it.
What kind of engine would you recommend I put in it? Should I try to find the same engine I have now? The 1.6l or should I get a 1.8l or should I maybe go up to a v6 or something. I don't think a v8 would be easy to fit into the engine bay, even though its probably possible.
What are your suggestions? I have a friend who is going to help me work on it, and I'll be participating in some of the work. So the largest expense is the price of the engine and parts to make it fit.
What engines would you recommend? I still want to have it be relatively small engine so that I have room in the engine bay to work. I was thinking maybe the Mazdaspeed Miata 1.8l turbo engine they offered for a few years in certain models, but finding that engine might be hard.
>>14198398
dont be a bitch
give that miata a j series swap and enjoy it for another 200k

>>14198424
What would the average price of one of those engines run me?
>>14198424
forgot pic some anon has a jswapped miata here
maybe he'll show up
a low mileage acura cl j32 can be had cheap
and the j35s are just as plentiful but make more power and thus cost a bit more
Subie bread. Lets see your subie
>>14198341
I regularly drive a buddies 2010 forester for long periods of time on highway and city.
It's horrible. Heavy, no power, transmission is laggy as fug, seats are hard as a rock (although heated)
All that being said, nothing has broken on it yet.
>>14198365
We all know that the only subies OP was talking about were turbo charged ones... lol
>>14198365
cool fucking anecdote bro

Why are cars so shit now? Bean counters.

Why there isn't a BMW M3/Audi Quattro/Mercedes AMG in the Initial D manga/anime series?
>THEY WOULD SHIT IN JDM FACES!!
ooohhh there is no replacement for displacement!!
But rly i know its all Japanese and shit but why didn't they put some other cars?
It was meant to be about cheap shitboxes people in Japan could get their hands on for cheap (except the R32 GTR, but even then...).
Euros and US cars are expensive in Japan.
>>14197964
how many supras and skylines would the series feature if it was staged in germany?
There is a Mercedes in Initial D.
What's the best sports car for under $10k and why is it the MR2 turbo?
Too rare sorry
>>14197895
Shut up moron
the suspension is shit
it's heavy
it's unable to turn
how about no
So I've been shopping around for a car and I've come across PT Cruisers as being cheap and with decent history reports. Can anyone explain to me why this is the case, especially for the earlier models? Is it because they are physically ugly and not high in demand for some? Or is it because these cars are unreliable? It seems as though people give this car a 1/5 or a 4-5/5 rating.
>>14197786
They look and drive like shit
Otherwise if theyre cheap hceck it out
They were "cool" cars and now the trend has died
They're bombproof reliable (except for cam position sensors, $70 and 10 minutes to replace), parts are absurdly cheap because it's on the Neon platform, just if it's not a turbo it will be slow.
>>14197865

Hey guys, thought /o/ would be the closest board to help me out with this question: I have a large leather CD case that I leave open on my passenger seat and the past few days there has been water on the front page when opening the case and all my CDs are wet (considerably too). The car has a leak behind the passenger glovebox in the corner that couldn't get to the case and rain doesn't seem to be causing it since it has been like this on non-rainy days. I keep a towel pressed up against the leak but some days the passenger floor is wet too. Any ideas? I thought maybe dew or moisture since the car isn't fully sealed but it seemed excessive for that
shameless bump for help
Sorry , pouring water on people's CD cases is my fetish. I'll stop doing it to you I guess.

sick bastard, how do you get past the damn windows?
