Who regularly drives at over 2500 rpm here?
Who needs upshifting when you have torque?
autofags need not apply
>>14512538
I do in my NA Silvia. Only because I like the exhaust tone.
I drive a performance vehicle not a diesel semi so yes
Tfw vtec engine
Fun dont begin till 5200 rpm
I'm car retarded so idk what to do with my girlfriend's car.
She came home after work and as soon as she turned the car off she heard a bang from under the hood and some sort of neon green liquid coming out near the front left under the hood.
It's not the antifreeze because that's orangish yellow. I couldn't see anything wrong with any of the lines or hoses. I just have no idea.
She has a 2005 Ford Taurus.
>>14518133
It's a Ford so it uses green coolant. Was the car overheating? You could have blew a head gasket and locked the engine. Try starting it again.
Torque pulls trailers, Horsepower wins races.
>>14511655
I don't care what the right way is. All I know is I want more torx than horsies.
>>14511710
Why?
horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you
Have a 97 jeep i bought at an auction, so no seller to smog it. Looked up it's records and it failed a smog in 09 due to tampered part.
Anyone know someone I can go to and pay extra to get a smog passed?
>>14511465
>Have a 97 jeep i bought at an auction
that's where you fucked up
It used to be easy any shop would do it for an extra hundred. All that changed like 4 years ago. They did a major sting operation and arrested like 200 people in a month for it. I don't know if anyone does it anymore but it's very rare and very hush hush.
got it for 600 so I'm not too mad would just like to get it on the road
Why are there so many butt mad old fellas on the forums tellings kids not to get high performance vehicles?
I am 19 years old and own a 2008 STi which I have been driving for 7 months now and havent came close to crashing. Before the STi ive owned several super sport motorcycles that I have been riding since 16 years old and I am alright. Only reason i dont have one now is because it got stolen.
Because you're too precious to risk. We'll need your contribution to society. Think of how your mother would feel.
>>14508609
Only ragret is insurance is $200 a month for basic coverage. But seriously get off your high horse. If i kid has the money to buy a nice vehicle dont talk shit. Its these years we should enjoy them. Sorry youre old and a cuck in debt so you cant enjoy high performance
>>14508619
But high performance vehicles are much more safe than normal cars. They have better brakes, suspension, tires, and computers helping you to avoid accidents.

I don't understand the complaint here.

Do you really fall for this meme? It's the same quality as all others.
Anyone here an AC tech? This is driving me nuts, I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo that I've been trying to fix the AC system on for the past month and have already wasted so much money. Originally it had a weak AC that would only go could if I pressed the accelerator which I diagnosed to a weak compressor. Now I've replaced the AC compressor, evaporator, control valve and dryer and it's not getting cold at all. I've followed the procedure of flushing it out and then running a vacuum to boil out any moisture.
This is the readout on the manifold gauge, the low pressure line is high while the high pressure line is low. The compressor engages fine and I've already wasted $50 worth of AC coolant and it's still not getting cold with the same gauge results like this. What the hell is going on??
>replaced everything
>still isn't functioning properly
just pulling out of my ass here but the wiring's probably all fucked
>>14503467
Is the clutch even engaging? If it is then you've got a restriction somewhere. If not test your pressure switches and check for voltage at the compressor.
>>14503467
It doesn't look like it's doing shit. Is the compressor even coming on?
Well I inherited a 2011 silverado with about 10k miles valued at around $22k, I cant afford the insurance let alone the gas this thing guzzles. My daily driver is an older subaru and I can tell its on its last legs. Ill run it till it blows and junk it.
Anyway im considering trading it in for a newer wrangler. Winters are harsh here so no matter what i get it needs to be awd or 4x4.
There are plenty of off road trails where I live so I would most likely be indulging in some mudding from time to time.
I dont know anyone personally that owns a wrangler so I cant get a first hand opinion
Any wrangler owners care to give their thoughts?
>>14502120
>can't afford gas for a v8 truck
>somehow able to afford gas for a v6 suv with terrible aerodynamics
They get the same mpg brah. Truck might even do better on the interstate.
>>14502120
>Winters are harsh here so no matter what i get it needs to be awd or 4x4.
Nah.
>>14502134
This truck gets 8mpg m8
Im almost certain a 4cyl wrangler would do better
At what horsepower, factory stock, should Toyota/Subaru sell the GT86 before it enters legendary territory?
I think 250-300 hp, and I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
>>14498856
Needs the STI engine as an option
Congrats on finding the right board
I'd agree but then the autists on here will complain it's too expensive because 50-100hp just appears magically for free.
Would be at least 28-29k at that point.
Toyobaru should have tried to revive the g35 so yah 250hpish towards 300hp would have been beast since its light
Who would pay for it and how financially fucked would you be?
1:
2.
my fucking jdm has been at the shop for almost two weeks
i'm scared to imagine the bill
but i will b e fine because i'm a jew with money
and 3
i need your opinion guise
im probably buying a house soon and i have a dilemma
>house 1 is tiny and old but has a large 2 door garage near it, is cheaper by 17k and has more land space
>house 2 has a more decent size but a 1 door garage, more expensive and in a residential area
as a car guy im really tied

What's the car culture like in Canada?
>>14496531
>Canada
>not Tim Hortons
Fuck you -A
Canadian here
>classic cars
People who do car shows
Very little racing
>Motorcycles
People like doing long distance trips, Canada's basically two steps away from a dominant ADV culture. It just loves Harleys and cruisers too much.
And with such a big country with so much wilderness, it would work really well.
>Trucks
Are not made for people, and should just be made as practical work vehicles. Literally everyone who has a brotruck is cancer.
>Off-roading
These people tend to actually use their vehicles and put them through the paces
>Import/tuning
Almost non-existent, except for the big cities. But even those are rare
>Exotics
Rich snobs, Arabs and Chinese exchange students.
>>14496569
what?
What's your opinion of Hyundai Genesis? Is it a turd?
Turd.
>>14496520
Apparently it's pretty damn good for what it is. Some people will tell you it's shit because it's not a race car though.
>>14496520
The new one's apparently pretty good, they even got Lotus to help tune the suspension.
Other than cost, why don't more car companies use timing chains?
noise
weight
>>14493858
Most companies have switched to timing chains. Very few engines use belts anymore.
>>14493911
>tfw my accord uses belt
>tfw just bought it for 2k and will need new belt soon
>tfw broke
