>Oil change every 8k km or 6months
I'm currently running on my current oil and filter since October. I plan on changing in 1-2 months myself once it gets warm.
How important exactly is it to change it every 6 months? I'm at 4k km since October.
The time thing is mostly BS designed to sell you more oil changes, if you're driving the car a lot (not just short trips). Just go by distance.
>>14700205
I did 32k 14 months. Since then, I've only done 4k because my new job is 5km away. I drive mostly short distances nowadays. How differently does short distances affect the oil change timing?
>>14700219
In short distance driving, basically not enough time for the engine to warm up, the engine is considerably more stressed. I'm not 100% on the exact science myself.
Will I be able to fit a LT4 supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine into my 2010 miata?
Technically/mechanically, sure.
>LT4
Stock up on radiators.

Not sure why this guy posted this question on /pol/ but I wanna know what /o/ has to day about it
They're all built from bits made in China anyway.

it IS only an NA.. but...
How badly would i have fucked up if i buy it.
>>14698402
They are actually pretty good Cars.
And I hate Subaru. But those early legacy's go forever
after resetting the ecu and clearing the codes how long or how much driving does it take to reset the faggot readiness flag thing so i can go do a smog check
i have a 98 maxima btw
>>14698401
I've always heard you have to drive ~100 miles to clear it. May be different for each vehicle though.
>>14698401
Depending on what it is and whats causing the problem, driving it immediately will almost always cause the CEL to light up.
>>14698411
already fixed the problem bro
replaced upstream o2 sensor
no engine light now
but the motherfucker at autozone told me you gotta wait a while after clearing the ecu to smog or they will fail it when they hook it up to the machine
Help me, /o/.

Welcome to the future.
Gm has recently been arguing in court that you are only licensing it's ECU software. You own the car, but they own the software that makes it function. with OTA updates, they can update it to track whatever they want it to track, and you're stuck with the choice of accepting the new software EULA, or owning a big fucking paperweight.

well that was hard wasn't it?
Hello /o/
I come to you for help, as I'm sure every other useless faggot with auto troubles does. So I apologize in advance if this is anregular annoyance.
I have a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT 5.9L V8.
About two weeks ago it started idling all fucked up. After driving it for about 5 minutes, when I came to a stop the car would rev up to about 800-900 RPMs and then sharply drop to 250-ish and then back to 600 RPMs which is its normal idle. Sometimes it would do that two or three times in one sitting. After it did that it rarely did it again for my drive home, which is about 15 minutes. From what I have seen it ONLY does this on my drive home, so I am lead to think that the hotter temperatures later in the day might have something to do with this, but I really don't know.
Friday of last week, it did the same thing at a stop, but when it dropped to 250 RPMs, it just died. It started right up again with no more problems and I got home fine. It did the same thing again yesterday.
I'm really at a loss for what could be causing this because in the 14+ hours I've spent looking this shit up online, I've found 100 different people with the same exact problem, but each fucking person did something different to fix it.
I am but a lowly poorfag and can't afford to just start replacing all sorts of shit.
I've seen people saying to clean/replace the IAC, saying to replace the ECM, saying its the fucking transmission fluid sensor, the fuel pump, the O2 sensor, the EGR valve.
I really just have no idea what the fuck to do.
I've spent my life playing with guns and neglected learning about cars, and I feel I've made a terrible mistake.
Any help or info would be fucking hugely appreciated, and again I apologize if these threads are common from manchilds that don't know vehicles.
>>14693991
Any check engine lights? Tap on the iac valve while it's running and listen for an idle change. Do a power balance test too. Just look it up on YouTube.
>>14694025
Sorry I meant to add that there is no CEL on at all.
I will definitely do the other things you listed, but I have an even more newfaggoty question, should I let the car cool down for a while before fucking with the IAC valve while its running?
I'm sorry for being such a plebeian. Cars just aren't something I know about.
>>14694049
No. Temp doesn't matter.
Hi, /sci/ here. I'm starting my first real job and I need a car to get around. This will be my first car since I took the train to uni everyday for the past 4 years.
What would you guys recommend? I want to get a Honda because they seem super reliable and inexpensive. I have been gravitating towards a si because of the extra bit of power. They seem kinda overpriced at ~12000 CDN. Anything with more bang for my buck?
Thanks for any advice!
>>14693747
a new si?
how much do you want to spend?
>>14693747
>people still think Hondas are reliable
get a used v6 camry
Buy an RX7, or an R32 GT-R
When buying a used car how many miles is too many?
Infinite if it's taken good care of. I'd buy a well maintained pre-90s Mercedes with a million miles before buying any Chrysler with a hundred thousand miles.
depends, the range is:
Dodge Stratus: 5 miles
Benz w123 300 Turbo Diesel: 5 billion miles.
The best choise if you 2nd owner and you buy a car right after warranty period.
Just bought this 03 galant, rate.
sexy
I grew up around a beige 03 Galant, it was actually a great car.

Green middle with Orange outer case.
Just buy fluke and be done with it.
>>14692358
Came here to say Fluke, cheers. or find an old Beckman, they're calibrateable and stuff.
Do you guys like my Mustang?

Considering these requirements:
>RWD
>4-door sedan
>up to approx 4000lbs
>at least about 300hp V8
>naturally aspirated
>manual
Would be nice to have:
>400hp V8
>6500+ redline
>No electronic nannies
>classic looks
>>14698451
>S6/RS6
Not available in RWD or manual. Harder to find in sedan form.
>RS4
Not available in RWD. Harder to find in sedan form. B5's aged worse than E39's aesthetically.
>AMG
No manuals, hard to find n/a models, either 15 year old(badly aged styling) or 25 yo (underpowered), or 5 yo (exponentially more expensive).
>Alpina
Basically BMW.
>Lexus LS/GS
No manuals. Similar styling gap to Mercedes.
In some cases, the mentioned cars are cheap enough for a manual conversion to be possible within an m5 budget, but still.
There's also modern stuff, like the Chevy SS, Dodge Charger etc., but most of those are even heavier, still don't come with manuals, and don't offer the perceived sportyness of an E39 M5.
>>14698454
The SS (and G8 GXP) is the closest you'll get to a modern M5. They both come with manuals but are more expensive up front than an E39 M5 but they're probably cheaper in the long run.

How about a charger rt
