Didnt see anywhere else in the catalog to post this.

I am looking for a DD between $2-$4k, and I have two cars in particular nearby. One is a 2000 Altima GXE for $3k, with 80k miles, the other is a 2004 Volvo S60 2.4t, with 111k, for $3.5k

I am more interested in the s60, but I am wondering about the reliability, and if parts are any cheaper than newer model volvos and other euros, due to the age? And anything I should look for specifically in it? Any help is appreciated.

>>14683193
Damn that altima is an absolute steal, volvo is probably nicer though. If I were you I'd snatch up that Nissan, given that I know virtually nothing about volvo. Given that it is a turbo though, expect to have to buy premium fuel, and keep in mind you might have factory turbo problems down the line
>>
>>14683193

On the volvo look for worn parts that are going to need replacing soon.

Check the mounts, check the suspension parts (strut tops, bushings, etc).

Generally reliable but make sure you keep up with maintenance.
>>
>>14683207
Yeah, and the altima has a 1 year 12k mile warranty from the dealership. But damned if Im not drawn towards the volvo. 200hp and a turbo is pretty alluring.

I owned a 1.8t audi for a while, so Ive dealt with turbos a little bit before.

can someone explain something simple to me?
supposedly, f1 engines need to be heated up in order to start because otherwise the pistons would be too tight in the bore and cause damage...

if I'm not mistaken metal expands when it's heated up so would the piston not expand when heated up and fit even tighter than when cold?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>14683146
Yes because the piston is the only metal object in the engine...

> once again retarded tripfaggot proves his stupidity
Tell me more about your horribly misaligned car that was in line with recommended specs?
>>
I'm guessing it's actually for the metal to expand enough to have the piston rings seal properly, rather than because of fucking up the walls. Whoever explained it to you probably fucked up

5th gen ign lock and key switch.jpg

Ok guys I need some major help. I've got a Honda fit that the steering is fully locked and the ignition is stuck in the lock(0) position. The key isn't stuck in it but turning the wheel and nothing has. I've tried everything short of drilling the locking pin spring out, which I'm going to do next. Anyone know where to drill from to get it out with out damaging the lock pin to start the car? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my only way to work tomorrow. Pic related, switch body looks like this.

Spray PBlaster in the key hole. Let it sit for a little bit then try again.

What kind of bushings do you guys use on your car? I changed most of my suspension bushings to urethane, and I've been reading into aluminum & delrin for things such as subframe/diff/engine/tranny mounts.

I also hear some people swear by OEM if its not for a track oriented car so I'm just curious to see where /o/ stands on this?

Also

>03 350z track

Doing an engine swap, and can't pull the trigger on a material for engine/tranny mount. Probably just change my diff bushing and subframe while I'm at it. What would YOU buy?

>>
>>14682665

Poly for most mounts, delrin subframe bushings, aluminum control arm joints.
>>
>>14682680

You got rubber mounts custom made? Were you able to choose the level of hardness?

>>14682723
i've read that poly mounts make engine vibration more noticeable than solid aluminum.. not sure why this is so, I couldnt find any other info

ayyyy. got a 2007 nissan versa and i went out Saturday morning to start my car and nothing. all lights worked and everything except it would not crank at all. My battery is less than a year old and trying to jump did nothing. i assumed it was the starter and replaced that today. Still nothing turn the key and nothing. I did the old screwdriver trick with the new starter and it just cranks and cranks but wont start

Yeah but chances are you'll need a racing seat, or modify the stock seat to be comfortable. My friend is 6'4 and has a Spec NB that he fits in with a helmet and a cage so it's definitely reasonable to fit without those things
